In many cases the term 'brown nosing' is used when in reality a person is just doing their job.  Like many blanket terms it is used incorrectly far more often than it is used correctly.

Example:  We have a boss called evil and fake in this discussion and probably more than one employee feels that way.  That doesn't mean you should not do the job you are paid to do.  The person that responds to the boss, does the work, gets the work done fast and efficiently is called a brown noser by the others simple because the boss is unpopular.  Happens all the time.

Falsehood, for the purpose of harming, is evil, you know.

They are also the person who gets a pay increase, a promotion, and eventually the power to fire the lazy 'cool' people who sat around not working and calling people who did brown nosers.

You don't have to brown nose to get ahead in the world. Just be good at your job and agreeable towards your co-workers.

Though in all honesty; I'd rather be a brown nose who retired at 50 than a 'cool' guy who raged against 'the man' till I was 80 years old, only to die on the crapper at work.

Read/listen to this

There's a difference between appreciation and flattery, and the difference is sincerity. If you flatter or brown-nose it will backfire on you.

You say you're a brutally honest person, but does that honesty ever manifest as praise?

Is there a particular shade of brown you are going for? It will make a big difference as you select the tie you want to wear on a given day.

If stepping on some toes at work gets you ahead, is that really a bad thing? Not like other people wouldn't do the same.

No. Unless they're with me that night and I'm just using it as an excuse to blackmail them. lel Just kidding.

Nobody talks like that and is actually sincere, unless you're a heartless douchebag.

Well, all of my employees all have to do our job. We work under a license and chart in a legal document.

absolutely. That is part of the problem. It is going unnoticed/unappreciated as are most of my attributes
