Leliana's popularity is weird imo, she seems to have the Liara style "popular & hated at the same time" following, although id say she has less haters then Liara does

Yeah, I see more fans than I do haters, but I think part of that is a response to her popularity. Then you get accusations of "argh spotlight stealing Mary Sue!!1" and it just gets nasty. :?

Is annoying how "Mary Sue" is misused so much, generally just means "specific character i dislike" now

A friend told me that he romanced Leliana and then chose to die in the game. And then he said he regretted romancing her, because Leliana commited suicide in the epilogue. Did he lie to me?

Kind of. The epilogue can be interpreted that way -- it's what came to my mind, too, when I saw that slider in my game -- but it is not actually stated as fact. Here:

Leliana remained in the royal court for a time, mourning. She poured her heart into a ballad that would eventually become known throughout Thedas. But after one performance, Leliana quietly vanished. Some say that the Maker came to her in a vision again that night. Smiling, tears in her eyes, she told a maid that she would see her love again at last.

Since the Warden is dead, that can be read as implying that Leliana is planning to off herself. (On a tangent, I'd have liked to hear that ballad in Inquisition. Or at least a mention of it, if it's so famous.)

I can't see how else such an epilogue could be interpreted except suicide, it's worded in a narratively beautiful and correct way to describe it (we can't know for sure what happened to a person who didn't leave a suicide note, so the explanation is called a rumor). But indeed it allows for a convenient cop-out. I'm glad that she is still alive.

Me too. Her throwing her life away over this relationship was the very last thing that both I and my Warden would have wanted. There was quite a bit of dismay from us sacrifice-players on the issue back in the day, hoping that it wouldn't turn out to be suicide after all.

On the upside, I suppose losing the Warden in this manner cured her of her silly "Oh how romanctic!" attitude towards tragic love stories. Being the one left behind isn't so romantic after all, apparently.

It could be interpreted as her being exalted, like how Andraste was.

Maker I hope not.

She's done nothing to be in the same league as Andraste.

Let's not and say they did, then move on to new things. Better to actually get a story DLC that has more appeal than a romance DLC that only a few who want to romance Leliana will use.

I'd also support romancing a romanced Leliana :P

Ohhh! Can we get a DLC that allows us to throw Aonor to the darkspawn instead. That'd be more interesting, and more fun!
