MMORPGs suck, but I'd still play MEWOW if it had quarians
What if bioware made a world of mass effect

You know who really should and could make a badass MMO? Wizards of the Coast with their Magic: The Gathering universe.
Except they should sell the rights for it to some company who can actually make it, because they can't even make their MTG online client work properly.

Any WoW clone will fail completely, no matter what universe it is based on. If Star Wars couldn't succeed, then Mass Effect won't either.
It's something I repeat in every single beta since 2005: Do not try to copy an existing game because then players won't have an incentive to switch to the new one. Who would leave all their friends, guild, characters, achievements etc behind to basically play the same game again?
Long rant available on request. ![]()

I don't want your rant because the only reason I'd play a game like that is quarians, and I wouldn't care about how terrible the game actually is or how many other people were playing it (as long as some of them were quarians).
I'd rather watch paint dry than play WoW or any of its clones like ToR.

You say that now but just wait when whatever two-bit dev team they use ends up completely ignoring all lore and you have things like Quarians with tails and Quarian wizards using "blood magic" and other random ****.
Don't say it can't happen. Shitty MMO teams can make anything happen (except good games ofc).

Stay in a Citadel-themed Hotel...

This is absolutely perfect. Legs straight...inserted into Elcor's back...upright posture...that's how it's done.
Any Hoth action figure of Han or Luke riding a Tauntaun will tell you the same.

The next ME is probably going to have overly large areas like DAI, if that is what you are looking for.
Hopefully the MP won't be promote to win like DAI though.

DA:I is already an MMO and a terrible one at that. I wish I haven't bought it.
You want ME4 to be a fetch quest galore too? Go get this, go get that, kill 25 of this and 50 of that.

Well, it kind of is. It is using a ton of MMO style time sinks and mechanics.

AFAICT DA:I is an MMO just without the other people and some kind of story shoehorned in - same pointless fetch quests and random bumbling but without the fun of griefing anyone. I could honestly do without that in the ME universe.
*disclaimer: yeah, I've never actually played DA:I - it could be awesome for all I really know but the term "open world" with regards to RPGs leaves me cold... I don't even like the Elder Scrolls.

Fun fact: DA:I is not open world at all. All that changed is that now the maps are huge but they are still seperate. The NPCs aren't any more interactive, they don't "live" and you have very little freedom to do what you want.

I would classify DA:I and Destiny as "Tryhard MMO" meaning they are pretending to be an MMO but failing miserably

No it isnt since when did a 4 player linear dungeon crawler become an MMO?

If you concentrate on just one attribute, then of course it's not like an MMO. That's the same like comparing a horse wagon and a car because they both have 4 wheels.
You have to look at the big picture. How interactive the world? How much time do you spend with the main quest and how much time is dedicated to leveling, gearing up etc? You have MMO style time sinks like farming materials, completing collections, fetch quests you don't care about but do because gold + exp and so on.
If you played MMOs a lot, then the DA:I SP will seem strangely familiar... and that's not a good thing because there is no reason to limit a player in such a way since they aren't competing with anyone.

Depends on if its standard MMO fair with toolbars and stat based combat, or if it plays like Mass Effect, but with more people roaming the galaxy.
I'd prefer it if they did like ME1 where you could explore the galaxy with a crew, two companions (like TORs system), and land on and explore planets.
But keep it as the TPS gameplay, DONT convert it to MMO mechanics like the failed Elder Scrolls Online mess did.

Quarian wizards
Quarian mages with fireballs and ice spells in ME3MP.
Welp.

This is key.
The main reason the WoW clones fail is because they too hard to stick to the formula, and always wind up lacking what keeps me with WoW: The immersion. The lore. The exploration. the RP opportunities in the cool areas we can explore.
