This.
Yeah now we out dps spirit blade with our normal staff attacks. If they don't want people using spirit blade why not just take it off the tree all together...
I hope youre phenomenal at bating arrows cause that's all it's good for now.
*Edit - I could do without the weekly nerfs. WTF kind of business plan is that? I can only imagine the meeting.
"This game's not doing well, what can we do to fix it?"
"Well we can ****** everyone off every week."
"How does that help?"
"I dunno, it worked for Howard Stern. They just kept coming back to see what happened next."
"Ok, let's do it."
I love how DMV that thing looks.

Better yet, drop the cost to 15, return the damage to 300%, and call it good. If we're going back to 20, gonna need something extra ![]()
Drop the damage to 100 so tired and seeing AW ![]()
5 mp cost is better than the 20 :x . I think if they just increased the swing speed, perhaps replaced Gathering Storm with Clearn Burn, and maybe gave the Spirit Blade passive an increase in barrier generation, it would be pretty balanced. Arcane Warriors aren't suppose to do amazing damage.
Retire the AW give people the chance to play with their other characters.

Maybe I'm way too drunk, but that sounds like a huge buff to me.

I suppose. I mean, I'm actually ok with the way it is now, but I do have a fair bit invested into Willpower (nothing crazy) and the Dragon staff, so my hits do like ~250-300 and 60-80 on the rune. It's enough when you're hitting 2-3 guys who aren't spam blocking, I think the main thing is it just swings so slowly. If they sped up the animation it would help drastically. I also thought I saw someone say that enemies aren't suppose to be able to block it, and they were working on fixing that. Frankly, I found it rather strange my giant etheral spirit sword could be block by some dudes tiny one handed longsword, but I guess I don't know his life maybe he's pro.
I don't mind the change SB has just gone under, as I've mostly used it as a defensive spell, but, it is a one handed sword, I do think the attack speed should be in line with that.
Just my thoughts.
Bioware is being extra on this. If they dont want the Arcane Mage to use melee easily, they shouldn't put him in the game.
Or, just remove the blade and call him whatever.

Arcane Barrier?
Arcane Barrier?
At this point, he's more like Arcane Failure.
He's still probably my favorite mage, followed closely by the Elementalist.
Hmm OK!
I'm in tears right now. I never thought I'd actually see someone complete one of these.

Perhaps 15 then. If the base damage doesn't go up, they will need to redo the barrier and guard multiplier so it will have some sort of purpose.

No, he's a jedi.

Without some sort of overhaul (a patch, since balance updates are limited in functionality), a mana cost of 15 and 300% damage seems to be the best middle ground. However, Luke is apparently open to experimenting with extremes. In its current state, despite the very small mana cost, SB is nigh useless since it only does 50% more damage than basic staff attacks (basic staff attacks + Gathering Storm > Spirit Blade). Going in the opposite direction, we could possibly see a purpose for Spirit Blade (high cost with high damage on a skill with no cooldown), though that would likely be a bit much. We have other high dps characters, we don't need the Arcane Warrior becoming the Arcane Assassin. So, I still postulate that a mana cost of 15 with a damage rating of 300% is the best option.

This. They should keep Spirit Blade at 5/150% but either make it generate double barrier (so like 300% without the damage) or replace Gathering Storm (or even add Spirit Blade to the description) with Clean Burn, or another useless passive, so that it's basically an alternative to a staff attack, and your spells (like every other mage) are what deal your damage.

It also doesn't calculate in the spirit rune, doesn't it?
