Unlike previous Bioware games they have taken a firm "YOU WILL PLAY THIS GAME HOW WE  WANT YOU TO PLAY IT OR NOT AT ALL"  If you don't like this then your only choice is to move on IMO.  (Or play on PC.  PC gamers cheat on everything)

You can dupe in previous DA games, but you won't be doing it again in DAI.  You can XP cheat in previous DA games, but you won't be doing in again in DAI.  You can get easy gold in previous DA games, but you won't be doing it again in DAI.  This is the theme.  If you find fun in those type of things then Bioware said screw you.  You can play it their way or no way in DAI.

I wouldn't put any faith in any cheats or tricks or whatever else you want to call them coming back to the game.

Yes they were purposely removed, no they won't be coming back.

If you play on a PC, you can make all the AoP you want.
If you are on a console, too bad, so sad. That's just another drawback to playing on that platform.

Why bother?
Use this free MOD and fix by yourself :-)

And this is exactly why they should make games exclusively for consoles.

I just found one for Cassandra in the Fallow Mire. My game is fully patched. Is this one supposed to be gone, by chance? Because it isn't.

No. Cassandra's amulet in the Fallow Mire, Blackwall's in Adamant, and the player amulet in Crestwood are the only remaining amulets that can be looted.

They actually removed some Chantry-related valuables from the chest you're speaking of so that the amulet would be the only thing in it (which prevents it from being exploited).

I think its based more of if they could be exploited by the bottomless treasure chest issue in the game, so if it wasn't impacted by that I think it would have remained by design.

The problem is that they removed amulets that couldn't be exploited (at least as far as I'm aware).

You can't exploit bodybags (they're not stored if you leave an area, and they don't get regenerated if you only loot them partially), and there are some in areas where you could never return (which I think was a necessary part of the exploit). BioWare removed all those, and kept ones that could be exploited by moving them or removing other items from the containers.

And their process wasn't even equitable, as they end up leaving a companion with virtually no amulets (Dorian's sole amulet is inexplicably locked behind something entirely unrelated to him, which requires recruiting a different companion, getting enough approval with them to trigger their quest, completing their quest a particular way, and navigating a convoluted operation chain from the war table just to get the amulet).

If you are on a console, too bad, so sad. That's just another drawback to playing on that platform.

This is false.

Amulets (as with all equipment) can be freely duped when playing with a controller.

They fixed numerous exploits in Dragon Age: Origins as well, I remember the infinite attribute point exploit that was quickly fixed in the first patch and there probably were others I never noticed.

I wouldn't know about any other console system cheats, I don't limit myself by using them(consoles). They did, however, stop the container exploit from being used to get unlimited AoP. The spirit of my statement is still true, consoles have a ton of limitations that PCs don't. We can also fix bugs and make changes that will never  be realized on a console.

Oh, get off your horse please. I have PC enthusiast friends who'd be disgusted to be associated with folks like you who enter threads only to proverbially ****** on other systems. This isn't GameFAQs; you have nothing to prove. Be happy with your platform of choice and let that be the end of it.

I hardly ever use them. Even when I do, it doesn't make any difference in my game. Count me as one who says they don't really matter.

If you are part of the superior PC Master Race Platform, you can just mod them back into the game.

Even here the system wars rage?  It should not surprise me.  But it does.

I don't understand the big deal over AoP's.  As it is, there are more ability points than abilities we can use together, and plenty left over for a good choice of passives.  I'd need 4 more abilities (selectable with an additional shift key on the controller--yes, it can be done, since there's one unused button) before the number of ability points even fazed me.

Why shouldn't we be able to play however we like?

Also, that would just encourage us to mod the consoles (or emulate them on PC, something they should totally allow, because it would increase the available market for the games).

I am not going to drag this thread into any more Platform War than it already is. I apologize for my part in taking it there.

On topic: several AoPs are not available on consoles, on PCs they may be.

This doesn't need to be about platforms.  You're advocating a mod-free gaming landscape.  Why?

Isn't an XBox emulator coming with Windows 10?  Or was that one of those rumours that just appears out of nowhere and then winks out of existence?

I honestly didn't see a lot of meaningful effects from unlocking more and more passives at a certain point. I unlocked all the passives in the archery and double daggers tree, got a few for dex in the subterfuge along with my favored ability (shadow strike) and pretty much filled up Assassin, with the exception of a couple of things I have no use for, like that bomb one and the focus-based ability. That alone actually gave me quite an edge against pretty much everything, before the substantial boost in attributes crafting grants when using higher tier materials. It's certainly a good feeling to fill up a lot of slots on the trees and make the Inquisitor more and more powerful, but it just seems like little to no difference once enemies start dying in a blink of an eye. I hit a dragon with mark of doom and everyone else goes to work and it's like the Inquisitor should have just brought a beach chair to watch.

Several reasons which are not on topic for this thread.

There was an unofficial emulator for the original XBox, not to mention the controversial Bleem emulator for the PSX.

But since consoles are fundamentally computers, the technical barriers to emulation are surmountable.

Not quite.  The XB1 runs a version of Windows 8.  That gets bumped to Win 10 whenever.  After Windows 10 releases on the entire Microsoft landscape, XB1 games are slated to be streamable to other Win10 devices.

You know, I've recently bought this game because I wanted to play legitimately and have access to the Dragon Age Keep. When I first read that the patch fixed a loot exploit, I thought: well, it's a shame I'll not be able to have every ability, I'll have to spend skill points more wisely. But I'd never imagine so many other amulets were removed and that has made me regret buying the game to some extent.

Why am I upset? Well, like many of you think, in a singleplayer run, I think the players should be free to do whatever they want with what was originally in the game. In this particular case, they should be free to decide weather to play without cheating or use some sort of trick to help you. It's not up to the developers to make that decision, but to the players. Besides, the other amulets were already there, so their first intention was to give 2 to (maybe) 4 free skills in order to help build a team as the game progresses and gets more difficult, but one amulet could be "farmed" isn't the excuse to remove something that was already in the game.

The point is that many players, including me, are angry not necessarily because we shall not have some easy skill points, but because the developers have removed something integrated into the game, for which we've all paid a considerable amount of money; enforced a decision that belongs exclusively to the players and finally, they haven't done anything to fix some more important bugs and glitches that actually affects the gameplay, for example: the agent recruitment system (alive Florianne, the mercenary working for Gaspard, the men in the upper garden of the Winter Palace, among others), the stonefist impact detonator bug, the codex entry of the Hero of Ferelden, the herb seeds , the invisible merchant, and I can continue (but I've written too much already).

So for those who think it's just about getting extra skill points, it's not just that, but all that I've written above. Thank you for your time. DFirayner
