So i just bought the schematic of legend Axe of the Dragon Hunter in the black emporium. I thought it didn't have any upgrade slots (for haft and pommel) for two reasons:

1. The original 'Axe of the Dragon Hunter' sold by Bonny Sims in Skyhold doesn't have any upgrade slots.

2. Too many materials to craft one, so i thought it would be like those hakkon schematics: powerful but no upgrade slots.

Axe of the Dragon Hunter schematic has offense: 20 metal, offense: 12 leather, utility: 6 metal plus upgrade slots for haft and pommel (and the obvious rune slot). The Hakkon's Valor schematic requires the same amount of materials but it has no upgrade slots for haft and pommel. Well it is pretty much worthless now for a 'Tier 4' schematic, obtained after the hardest battles in the game.

The problem is that the crafting screen doesn't tell you how many upgrade slots the weapon (or armor) has. The same happens when buying a schematic: you don't know if the item has upgrade slots.

Since there isn't a crafting table in the BE, after buying a schematic, you have to fast travel to skyhold or a captured keep, go to the crafting table and craft the weapon/armor then finally check if it has slots. That's definitely not practical. I'm not sure if i should buy the 'Staff of Corruption' schematic for more than 10k gold or the 'Seer Staff' schematic for about 3k gold since the shop doesn't tell me if they have upgrade slots or not.

Whenever buying a schematic or crafting weapons/armor the menus should tell you how many upgrade slots it has.

Wish it showed a preview of how the item looks, too, somehow

More detail on what you are buying would be helpful as well

Best thing to do is keep the wiki open on your other monitor.

True. But some BE schematics are quite new so i couldn't find anything with accurate or complete information. This for example doesn't say the axe of the dragon hunter has upgrade slots. Oh well, i doubt Bioware will do anything about this so the wiki solution, like you said, is the best way to go.

Why not just save your game, try out the schematic, and if you don't like the result, reload your save? That way all you have lost is a couple of minutes if you're not happy.

It's what i do, but like i said, it's not practical because you need to craft the weapon/armor to check it out and there are no craft tables in BE. It's especially annoying if you want to try multiple schematics but don't have the gold to afford them at the same time, so you might be looking at multiple save/fast travel/craft/reload.

It's a simple information that is missing when buying/crafting.
