Also, I would like to re-iterate here, since the other thread got locked, that you're all scrubs because you don't cook with olive oil.

I am. Because I actually cook things in ways that don't kill everything inside me
Send us a picture of you without a shirt to prove this.
In my country only me and just a few friends still playing ME3MP, this is dork enough.
I'm guessing that is a country that isn't big into space travel?
Is it a country where you see someone spray paint NASA on a VW bug on cinder blocks?
ALL VORCHA WANT TO **** ARIA! MAIN REASON SO MANY VORCHA SERVE HER! HOPE TO GET LAID! WE CAN ALWAYS DREAM!!! *squirt*
Mental would be not wanting to do Aria.

or finding Carie Ann-Moss sexy. (Aria's voice actor)
I've played the the trilogy through 5 times, 1200 hours to me3mp. I've read the books and comics. I have 2 spectre hoodies, the other I wear at gym and the other everywhere else. I've spent time on this forum more at work than actually working for the past 3 years.

Right. Frying that butter will make you save some money, since it'll kill you quicker and so you'll have to pay less for food in the long run, I guess
You are mental.

Well, butter you use for cooking has a smokepoint of ~200°C. Unrefined/virgin olive oil has a smokepoint of 130-180°C. Guess which is better for frying meat and for your health?
I'm sure I wrote it in the other thread already: Olive oil is great but you shouldn't use it at high temperatures unless it is refined. Which most olive oils aren't since they are mostly used for salads etc. I also posted a short list of oils you could use instead, most of which cost the same or less than olive oil.

And that tells me what? That if you use butter you die from obesity instead of the cancer you get from burned olive oil?
As always, it's a matter of moderation.
From the article: "A 2014 systematic review looking at observational studies of dietary intake of fatty acids, observational studies of measured fatty acid levels in the blood, and intervention studies of polyunsaturated fat supplementation concludes that the finding ″do not support cardiovascular guidelines that promote high consumption of long-chain omega-3 and omega-6 and polyunsaturated fatty acids and suggest reduced consumption of total saturated fatty acids.″"
Btw... "Sources of lower saturated fat but higher proportions of unsaturated fatty acids include olive oil, peanut oil, canola oil, avocados, safflower, corn, sunflower, soy, and cottonseed oils." Hey look, it's my list from the other thread. More or less.
I highly recommend using peanut oil for frying meat, not only does it work better, it adds to the taste.

Butter is ~150 C. I doubt that it's 200.
Sesame oil, on the other hand is closer to 200 C. Ghee (not sure if you are familiar with it) is so much better than butter - it's closer to 250 C.

Normal butter, yes. There's butter especially for cooking though... not sure what the english word is... and that gets up to 250°C.
Also, this list: http://en.wikipedia....iki/Smoke_point
Edit: Translator says "clarified butter" ... not sure if that is correct.

Do you have a source for that?
Semirefined sesame oil and ghee (which I use) are two of the best I am aware of. Normal butter is closer to 150 C in my experience.
That's ghee, which I was referring to earlier (very close to it). ![]()
While it has a higher smoke point, it has a higher risk of cardiovascular diseases than common oils.
^this is easily the most boring discussion I have ever witnessed on a forum about shooting space monsters/robots and banging aliens.
I think you all may have the wrong site. Here: http://www.foodnetworkfans.com/forum/
