I'm pretty sure that the Reapers are intent on trying to continue using humans for Reaper reproduction and furthering their Husk development, especially considering that they seem hooked on Shepherd. So using humans as a backup is probably unlikely, especially if they try to turn more into a Reaper again.
Edit: I'm pretty sure that Harbinger is a Reaper, given the implications at the end of the game.
Shepard seems to be too much of a entity to waste on a Husk.
More likely they want to include Shep into the Human-Reaper collective program.
Are Husks standardized? I mean, I can't see the Dragon's Teeth working on say... an Elcor. And I'd hate to see a Krogan Husk. Why do we only see humanoid based? (allowing for bizzare constructs)
Or does it all come back to out genetic diversity? <_<

Really? I just thought he was a
high-up Prothean, their leader perhaps and was given the ability to
move at any Collector body at will.
"You have failed. We have other means. Releasing control."
I'm betting the Collectors only have 1 base. That means Harbinger was somewhere else. AND WHY DO THEY ALL HAVE NAMES LIKE THAT?

Did Harbinger escape at the end?

I also thought Harbinger was just the most prominent of the Prothean offshoot species. But I have heard people say he was, in fact, a Reaper.
Did Harbinger escape at the end?
Yes, as you can see he leaves that body when the eyes go dim.. in the cutscene anyhow.

As for only humans being used for husks, if you read the Codex info on the Scion, it suggests that an Asari may have been used for the creation of the Husk in reference to it's skull.

Harbinger was never actually in the Collector base.

That would slightly explain the biotics.
Now, back to an older question of mine, because I'm definately not spacing them out nicely:
During a standard 50k year harvest, are the sentients merely eliminated, or harvested for making more Teapers?
If they're harvested; why bother with the Collectors at all? Only other thing I can think of harvesting for would be repair materials, which strikes me as unlikely in the extreme. Damaging Reapers seems all or nothing, bar Dead Floaty Fish.

Makes you think how organic life has the slightest chance against that many Reapers, Sovereign itself took down a lot of the fleet by itself.

Indeed, that scene was epic.

To quote Independance Day: "I gave it a cold."
Failing that, the Geth will redeem themselves to the galaxy by hacking and overloading every single Reaper one by o-*is assassinated by Bioware story designers*

I would pay to see that fight against the Reapers.

I would imagine that if they were suitable for the creation of a Reaper, that's what the majority of the sentients would be used for. If not, then it would be safe to assume that they would either be genetically modified like the Protheans, or turned into Husks. After all, EDI did speculate that the Protheans were not suitable for Reaper reproduction, thus turned into the Collectors.
I missed that line by EDI, cheers.
But, why bother with Collectors at all? If you're going to invade and convert all suitable life, you're going to convert all suitable life.
Unless they want a Mark..........{Stupid number of Roman Numerals}.................IX Reaper to lead the return each time, there's no reason not to do all specieses at once, goodness knows they have the resources.
And the Collectors aren't really a backup, they're a sideline. (If they were a backup, Harbinger would just wake the rest of his pals up on finding out Soverign failed)
Something doesn't add up.

I hope in ME3 you reverse the
genophage affecting the Krogan, rally the Geth Empire, seek out the
Rachni Queen and unleash the FULL might of the Citadel Fleet (including
the dreadnoughts of every species) with the Council's full blessing.
I would pay to see that fight against the Reapers.
We'd get Trashed.

Meh, I dunno about reversing the genophage, but methinks the geth will play an important role in the defeat of the reapers.Elithranduil wrote...

I'm hoping to see some well received characters to be turned into a monsterous Synthetic to be used by the Reapers as emotional leverage against Shepherd. All the arrows point in that direction with the Husks and Human-Reaper.
A) Shepard goes "There's nothing left of them.." *bang* "NOW I'LL KILL THE REST OF YOU FOR DOING THAT" *dramatic point*
C) Shepard passes a Renegade test and talks the character into breaking free.
C'mon, this is Bioware.

This is almost starting to sound like the Dragon Age plot, gather your allies and fight the menance
That was pretty much ME2.
Horde of soulless evil freaks? Check.
Annoying uncharismatic leader you don't have any empathy/respect for? Check.
Big bad final showdown in your home base? We did that in ME1. Awakenings must clearly be held at the heart of Darkspawn territory.
:innocent:

Well no I mean a big battle to end all battles featuring thousands.
Hee hee.
Trouble is, given the fact there are at least hundreds of Reapers, we're screwed.
Anyone got any ideas on the Leviathan of Dis? Or was that confirmed as Soverign while I was asleep?

Haven't seen it mentioned in ME2 yet, I think it's a Rachni ship since it's purely organic.
Maybe. Do we know if Rachni definately have living-organic ships?
Doesn't seem right. The only Rachni at that stage was an egg on a derelict ship, or remanants from the wars.
Jartar is noted for the discovery of the "Leviathan of Dis," the apparent corpse of a genetically engineered living starship. The Leviathan was found in the bottom of a crater by a batarian
survey team, and estimated to be nearly a billion years old. It
"disappeared" after a visit to the system by a batarian dreadnought
twenty years ago.
Since then, the batarians have steadfastly denied that the
Leviathan existed at all – and all the more vociferously when shown
recordings of the corpse made by salarian researchers.
A corpse. A billion year old corpse.
Could they have thought a Reaper was a living starship? Or was that what the first Reapers were based on? Ships like this, converted to metal like how humans were to make the new Reaper?
That would explain it vanishing, the batarians simply woke it.
I get the impression that a single dreadnaught could not remove a "Leviathan" corpse.
This codex entry is probably an easter egg reference to the early 2000s SciFi Channel series Farscape, in which the main cast travelled aboard a sentient ship belonging to a species known as "Leviathans."
Hmm.. That could be all it is. Perhaps.

Poor girl, she would have been more useful as a Scion or Praetorian. I found them to be more challenging than Human-Reaper.
