I would like to play as her, but her mats seem a bit excessive. It will take me so long to save up to 49 leather and 26 cloth....
Why does the Duelist cost so much to create?

All the new ones need lots to unlock them.
Fortunately after that they don't need anywhere as much to craft the alt armour sets.

Thats true. But it seems her mats are much higher than both the other two. Zithar I belive only requires max 22 cloth, compared to the duelist costing 46 leather and 26 cloth

You can also unlock them doing dragon runs on either threatening: "chance to get the armor of one of the new characters" or Perilous: "increased chance to get the armor of one of the new characters" (source: FAQ)
I got both bard and avvar within 8 perilous runs so I'd highly recommend it if you have AW unlocked, saves a hell of a lot of materials! ![]()
I do think it's unfair to people who haven't had the opportunity to play as much of the multiplayer as getting a high amount of 1 particular variant of a material is kind of annoying, especially when the other unlocks can already take some time. I've also seen a large increase in armor drops from chests though (at least for me, excluding the 3 new classes) so hopefully it's now easier.

Thanks a million, I will give this a go. How exactly do you create the dragon call? Sorry, havent had a lot of time to play since the dlc launched

Go into the "weapon upgrade" section. It should be the highest schematic. Costs 10 leather, metal and 5 cloth. Gets destroyed after summoning one dragon.

EDIT: The Virtuoso requires two separate deposits of cloth, far more than the Duelist.

Your belief is incorrect.
Zithar costs 51 cloth to build, so be happy if you got him for free.

The new classes cost so much because Bioware realized that most players have an excess of materials and nothing much to spend them on (i.e. they still haven't delivered the schematics that were advertised before release). It also provides value for the Dragon's Call on higher difficulties. Furthermore it artificially extends the time needed to acquire them and makes the new content seem bigger than it is. By comparison, there were only 3 ultra rare classes in ME3MP and they were released across the final two DLCs. The worst part is that Bioware continues to ignore the cloth discrepancy despite complaints within the first week (6 months ago!).
EDIT: The Virtuoso requires two separate deposits of cloth, far more than the Duelist.
So, instead of creating some kind of rare or super epic armors or weapons of some sort as a reward for the people that plays most that actually have a lot of materials, we put a BIG wall here. Because that always work well... Well done, Bioware. Well done.
In ME3 MP the chests are a nice reward. Some can give things that I can't use, but a lot of them were nice. I get all the classes after 3 or 4 difficult missions. Here, I get the good gear in those random events, never from chests. Chest give me just garbage. "Oh, a 1200 gold chest... Congratulations. You have 3 useless piece of 4% reduction of flame dmg, one +10% dmg skill ring for warriors and 20 DPS staff. And 5 healing potions! Oh, but don't worry, you can recicle all of this **** and get... YES! More iron!"
Also, it's very nice to have like 200 kinds of different materials, so instead of having 4 stacks of 20, you have 20 stacks of 4. Never enough to make anything... As I said, well done Bioware...

Getting all classes unlocked in ME3MP required significant luck, especially as time went on, and while I didn't put in huuuuuuge amount of hours in ME3MP, I still didn't get them all.
It wasn't untill they added the chests that had a higher chance of soldier drops that this started changing.

I didn't no this. I am now happy especially seeing as the guys at bioware are hiding that cloth on us. I say I have 40 pieces of cloth, with my max for one of them being 10 lol

It looks steep, but I already had so much saved up I had two characters unlocked and in their max armour within ten minutes of installing the DLC, Then I found the third guy in a dragon chest a few games later, and bought his purple armour straight away. If they made it cheaper most people would have everything unlocked straight away, which reduces playability and progression. I have only spent 200k on chests and am only prestige 386 atm, so I am not even a high level player compared with many.

You must not have made any of the regular armour sets then Killstreak ![]()
I'm at a bit over 400K spent now, and would craft armour sets reguarly so my cloth supply was always below 8 ![]()

Ya that was my problem as well @TormDK. I have a habit of getting really into a character, creating all their armour, getting bored and moving to another one and repeating this over and over lol. Left me scraping for cloth hahaha

Whats worse, I have on so many occassions crafted the wrong armor lol. I remember I wanted the cool hood for the AW and I got the one that makes him look like a butch lesbian hahahah. Needless to say, I have wasted plenty of mats this way ![]()

I'm finding cloth drops quite a lot anyway these days.
As to why the new kits cost so much to craft initially, BW consider them to be advanced classes iirc so aimed at longer term players.
