What is the hypotheses behind the study?

Also, since it doesn't seem like you were collecting names and handing out the "holy" approval slips they wouldn't let you test that.

Nope, I wasn't collecting names.

And the hypothesis was that there would a roughly 10% of the total population of the given area would attempt to press the button, and should a group approach it, the percentage would increase to roughly 30%.

Of the recorded presses, the solo pressers would most likely press the button a second time 30 to 50% of the time, which would raise when they would be in a group.

I know, I phrased it incorrectly. I forgot the term "consent form" for whatever reason, and it didn't seem like there was a way to do it with your proposal.

What does pressing the red button show though? What motivation do the people that press/do not press the button have for their actions? What does pressing/not pressing the button mean about them?

I get the feeling that the IRB didn't approve it because they didn't think that it would amount to anything besides satisfying your own interest (and we're not supposed to do that).

I imagine you would be able to do this as an unofficial study, but you wouldn't have any funding/backing/possible legal protection for it.

Oh yeah it was just a highschool proposal because we had 2 months after the AP test with nothing to do in the AP Psychology class, it was completely self-interest testing.

The button wouldn't do anything for the people that pressed it, and their reasons to press it would be purely by curiosity.

Now to introduce a variable I could do the same thing and put a "Do not press" sign above it with the same non-effect, to see how many would ignore a sign to satisfy their curiosity.

But as I said it was mostly for entertainment, I instead went with wearing colored lenses and recording color differences as my eyes adjusted to the color shift and back once I took them off.

Here is the real "question of the life-time"

Is there such a thing as Fate? Do we have free will? Or is our Future pre-destined?

It says "you can only pick one", so it means you can only "pick" and "pick one". That leaves the button out, you can't press it, only pick it.

It's obvious what the answer is.

99.9% of the worlds problems is solved by one of those choices.

What if the button leads to even more bacon!? A life time of bacon instead of a single package of bacon???

*slams fist on button in rapid succession*

You can't press it, so it's useless.
