Uh, what? ME1 came out in November 2007. It hasn't even been three years!Ararara wrote...
I hope it's like 4-5 years like mass effect 2.
Plus if you got the PC version like me, it's only been less than two. Learn to count. 4 years is too long, anyway.

I figured that it'd probably be 2012 already before it drops. But if it's sooner than that, I wouldn't complain.

Also better graphics and the inventory system will be more 'streamlined' no one will use weapons or biotics at all, instead there'll be an excruciatingly slow minigame involving elcor pheromones instead of real combat.

Doesn't the world end in 2012? That means I won't be able to finish the trilogy! waaaaaaaaaah

Yeah they're gonna have to think up reasons why you join the collectors because they bring you back from the dead after you die on the SR2 in the first few minutes of the game, and they're like "we're all for humanity now, i know we were bad in the last game but two years is like forever in galactic time. Here's a ship and some people now go be a council spectre like in the first game but its different now cause they wont help you and neither will cerberus"

Your sarcasm is epic. Also, I'd pay for elcor pheromone minigames.

No, the devs actually said that it would be late 2011 because they already know where they want to go and won't wait for feedback from the fans to proceed. They've been working on it since last December. So probably around September-December 2011.
You have a link to this info? Thanks.
Packardbell also mentioned they had the engine worked out. Folks know if they'll just be using the same engine as ME2? I like it, but pie-in-the-sky I was hoping for some slight improvements, mainly in the facial animations of the chars...sometimes they fall a bit flat.

30 hours is too short? ME2 is already longer than ME1, which was longer than most games out there now.conglomerator wrote...
ME3 was originally planned for 2011 release, but seeing as that ME2 was postponed from 2009 to 2010, I imagine ME3 will be released in 2012. But truth be told, I would much rather wait an extra year and get a LONGER game. ME2 was way too short, I completed it in mere 30 hours, as opposed to nearly 60 hours it took me to get through Dragon Age...

I'll see if i can find it. It was a Casey Hudson interview where he said how they were already starting on it and they won't have to wait for fans to give them feedback on much like ME2 for improvements because they already know what they're going to do and where the want to go with the story. I'll search for it and see if i can get it back again.

4 years. We need time for them to excuse an even cooler ship, some giant reverse engineered lasers, and a dramatic swing in galatic politics.

And the staggering number of choices from ME1 and ME2 will make ME3 a staggering technological accomplishment. (Do they take the easier design choice of making ME3's cast completely new, or go ahead and put together survivors from ME1 and 2 who may not be alive in all games--certainly the crowd pleasing choice!)
It's worth pointing out that the shooter gameplay has significantly improved, and they *may* not decide to build an entirely new combat engine for ME3.
It's also worth noting that they'll want to get it out the door this console generation. (The conventional wisdom is that no 'Xbox 720' is in sight, but they might try to be all gimmicky with Project Natal.)
