Perhaps I'm misunderstanding how this works, but doesn't flirting with Harding trigger the gossiping nobles in the Great Hall of Skyhold? I only ever got them when I was testing out romance options and later I got him to talk even when I wasn't doing anyone's but Harding's.

Doesn't one of Soris' endings involve marrying a human woman? And I think Gorrim also marries a human woman in Denerim.
I'm not certain Gorrim specifies who his wife is, just that her father is a smith. I've always assumed she was a dwarf since they had a baby on the way so quickly. Soris supposedly marries a human woman, moves to Highever and has a huge family if you play the CE origin. Dunno how much credit to give the rumor screens, obviously Oghren sobering up, becoming a great general and naming his first child after a warden who makes the US doesn't happen ![]()

I think her appeal is a bit like Bethany's, to be honest. She's nice, "normal", cute, doesn't come with a lot of drama llama ding dong and genuinely seems to like you. Plus, she's a dwarf you can have a flirtationship with... that goes a long way.
I suppose my issue is that I find her so unbearably dull and uninteresting. She's just so mundane, and I don't mean it in the non-mage way.
Whereas I think Bethany had a really interesting character conflict that was brilliantly and subtly done (so much so that almost everyone missed the point with Cullen in Act 1).

Bethany's probably my favorite character from the second game, but I don't think the appeal of any given love interest is necessarily predicated on having a complicated personal crisis to resolve.

I recognize that; I suppose I just want to express my contrary view for the character in the hope that if Bioware is planning on being responsive to the request to include her or a similar character, they consider what her detracts find unappealing and will look to - in some way - address that either in her arc (or the similar character's arc) or in another party member.
In the end, Scout Harding is anti-interesting for me. That's the best way I could put it. I find her utterly dull, and it's incredibly rare for me to find a character dull in fiction.

I'm down for a scout harding romance. I'd rather have her be an option for the next game tho, so she gets fleshed out more. I thinks thats the appeal of her, she's largely a blank slate and that leaves people to fill in the gaps with whatever they find attractive. Bit of a double edged sword for the devs tho. But they managed to pull of Cullen, so....

Am I the only one who kinda wishes that Bioware would alter canon slightly so that Bethany and Carver both survived the prologue and the only variable was who was left behind when you went on the Deep Roads expedition, meaning that one of them always ends up as a Warden or in the Gallows?
Both characters are too good to waste simply on a class variable, besides, Varric's book omitted and exaggerated a lot of details anyway?

The Keep doesn't though.
Unless enough people pester them to change it?
It won't happen, sad to say, but that's a retcon I think most people could get behind?

I dunno, I'd prefer it, but a lot of people enjoy the tears involved in all of Hawke's tragedies.

Yeah, Hawke's tragedies are pretty character defining... I suppose even if both lived past the prologue, you could still have the chance for a worldstate where one or both of them died anyway, either in the Deep Roads without Anders to find any Wardens, or Circle!Bethany possibly being offed in the pro-Templar ending?

True. I honestly thought they overdid the tragedy with Hawke. Too much and you just kind of get numb. Then you have to do things like, oh, blowing up chantries and starting wars to try to up it ![]()

*Sigh* So still no more flirting options, but Harding does have a couple good lines at the beginning and end of the Descent. I'm almost starting to wonder if somebody on the dev team is teasing us.

You know what's sad? I probably had about 600 hours put into the ME games, and it took me a random glance at the name of her voice actor on her DA wiki page to realize that she's voiced by Liara's voice actor. I'm usually better at recognizing VAs....blew that one, though.
