IMO, Leliana looks atrocious in DAI. Her face is anatomically incorrect, her eyes are eerie and lifeless (much like in DAO), and, as some other person once mentioned, she looks like a sex doll. Very creepy. Makes it hard to like her, apart from how edgy and dark they made her in this installment. Either way, I hope we never have to see her again. I also hope she gets an awkward and abrupt "Lair-of-the-Shadow-Broker Liara" tier face lift in a future DLC, kek.

 

In summary, all the screen time Leliana's creepy, lifeless, and wrong face gets is upsetting to me.

 

I think Morrigan is gorgeous in DAI and very much improved upon, but again, that's just me.

 

Good read. I agree in regards to leli that something is a bit off, but do you think it's forgive able and passable? I think she still look good, but could be better if not rushed by the EA whip.

Narrower jaw, wider nose, wider mouth, different eyes angle, longer face, longer chin ... all those small details cumulate and makes those two face completely different. 

Same goes for Cass, Morrigan and other returning characters. IMO they dropped the ball when it comes to faces.

Hmmm, the geometry count has increased quite a bit since Dragon Age Origins, it's only natural these characters change to some degree.

 

I am not biased when I say this, but Leliana in Inquisition looks beautiful, sexy, gorgeous. Especially in that bottom right picture.  What hurts me the most is that I'm stuck with Cass when Leliana is clearly the best romance option for straight male.  awwwww

 

I agree with you in regards to Cassandra, she has downgraded.

 

But I really want to understand your perspective. What do you think of Leliana in this picture? From Dragon Age Origins Trailer:

 

 

If you compare this to how Leliana looks in DAI, then I agree with you that there was a downgrade. The above concept of Leliana is excellent, she should technically look older by now in DAI, but with the above concept, I think she'd look as you'd want her to no? Then again the above polycount must be super high, especially judging by the fingers.

I do think Leliana was quite pretty/cute in DAO (and far less annoying); it's just the lifeless eyes that creeped me out. I'm just amazed that of all the characters whose initial faces were remodeled during the making of DAI, Leliana's was seen as perfectly adequate and not at all off-putting in any way. (Really glad they remodeled Cass and Dorian, though. Their first faces looked awful. Egg looked awful, too, but he doesn't look any better now, IMO.)

 

Leliana's the only uniquely modeled character DAI who pretty much encapsulates Uncanny Valley. Everyone else who does that is a creepy, default-faced, nameless NPC of no consequence.
