Could there not be some option implemented where, occasionally, a dragon gong hammer falls randomly...

That's not a bad idea, but I can't see it happening. As for the topic, I suppose it depends on which difficulty you play. I'm assuming most people won't touch the gong outside of perilous, and I don't blame them. I had several perilous pug games yesterday where the gong was used every time, and the dragon killed. I've played some games on threatening for levels, and no one's ever used the gong.

I'm in the same boat as you, though. PC player whose friends are all console people. Not sure how I'm still playing this game, actually.

I agree that better loot needs to be given out on threatening. Let's face it most people play threatening but they play it with the top gear. So don't give them crap... give them something comparable to the purple 24 weapons... like blue 24s.

I like the dlc but they really messed up with the new gear. They add in a bunch of ultra high tier gear, a bunch of ultra low tier gear, but nothing in the middle....??? Why?

Can the shock attacks be dispelled like against the lightning dragons in SP?

Yes

but RNG has pooped rainbows upon my bowl of cheerios and have most of the desired gear at about 450k in.

Travel the smart route in the castle and life is easy yet still a lot of fun.

I really like this metaphor.

Landed in a threatening group with people who obviously promoted enough that they should be playing perilous (could tell they had great gear and weapons

Nah, they're a threatening group. You overestimate pugs.

a douch said "If you die, I won't revive you". Sorry to disappoint, I didn't die. Not sure why people are saving the fonts on threatening.

Haha I've said that to a lot of pugs, but I'm never disappointed when they don't die, and I'm usually the first to use font. Usually though, its "I won't revive you (because I can't)" or "Don't revive him (or me), go finish the next guy off".

CR is a Perilous-end game bow though, second best in the game for archer (and arguably the best). I would invite you to my Perilous groups if you played on PC with that gear. Mind you, I like to invite people with mics and no gear at all too-- they just have to start out on Keeper until they get the gear from playing with my teams.

I only play public matches and i've fought about a dozen dragons so far. I've crafted 3 dragon calls myself. I usually wait and see if the group seems competent and if it does i'm willing to take the risk. Yesterday i had a run with 1 team, and we ended up working together amazingly well for a public match that we ended up doing 5 dragon matches in a row, and everyone contributed.

I think it can't be overstated how its important to know when NOT to pick someone up. Just as many wipes happen because of someone going down as someone unsafely trying to pick someone up. I had a match where we were on the Storm dragon and someone was dumb enough to pick me up while the electric rings were on. So he essentially just made sure I was dead, and killed himself.

my exact words as he was reviving me up, "uhh, I'm pretty sure that's going to kill me... yep it killed me."

not a fan of the Dragon call, the fight is too tough and the materials are too costly  for crappy grey gear..

Those aren't weak kits. Those are weak pugs you don't want to play with. They're doing you a favor sending you to another lobby.

Personally I still recommend people go away from hunter and alchemist though. Also for them to respec their ele (or choose another class) if they don't go firewall + firestorm + firemine. If they're level 5, then FW.

Perilous Castle map has too many enemies particularly stalker / shadows to avoid those abilities. Barrier addresses stray arrows. FM + FS directly addresses the Dagger Rogue issue. FW addresses everything else.

If you're on PC, and want to play in a coordinated team, feel free to message me. I run Perilous games a lot. The caveat being coordinated, which means communication is required (even if it is yes/no using F4 and F2, and typing through Origin).

Was playing Keeper (like lvl 16) and had two PUGs rush in on zone 4 and immediately die to 345739485734857834795 Venatori archers on Perilous difficulty. Believe or not, a level 9 hunter who joined in zone 2 stayed back with me and I was too busy stepping through enemies to barrier him consistently. He didn't go down once and I don't think he even went into red health. I know for certain I didn't have all the aggro because I had to take cover to barrier myself more than once.

That fight at the end of section 4 is harder than the dragon fight in section 5.

My advice is to make the hammer and if you get to the gong with no one going down, you can use it with confidence. I would expect you to probably win even if people go down a couple of times.

An alternative would be to PUG the map with a non-tank until someone else rings it.

I'm a straight-up pugger, and I've killed the dragon twice. You can do it! :D

As to the cost...

Really????

I preffer to figth the dragon instead the TC and crew. it seems faster and easy, also you can use the Trebuchet for extra fun.

Specially if you use Isabela, you can talk to the crew to man the cannons and fire.
