The Warden's party would win because they were led by the Warden so they were trained by the Warden and learned from the Warden.

The warden companions were much better then those in inquisition...
You had such a variety compared to inquisition it's no brainer..
from the Mabari dog to the giant qunari through a bloody golem.... shape-shifting witch... possessed enchantress, Royal bastard grey warden which was a templar.. I mean... you can't compete with those... and there were many more.

The title says it all. Who'd you think would win if each companion had a one on one versus a comparable other. Some characters may be left out
1)Morrigan vs Solas ( Apostates with secrets)
2) Wynne vs Vivienne(Spent their lives in the Circle)
3) Cassandra vs Alistair (Sword and shield templar types)
4) Blackwall vs Loghain (Sword and shield champions seeking Redemption)
5)Iron Bull vs Sten (Quanari two-handed)
6)Leliana vs Sera ( lithe female archers)
7)Cole vs Zevran (Stealthy Duel Wielders)
Optional :
9)Varric vs Oghren ( Red head Dwarves adding Humour)
10) Dorian vs Anders(Wise Cracking Mages)
1) Solas, because Morrigan is overrated and everybody seems to fawn over her, so I play it hipster and hate her
2) Both boring, maybe vivienne because she has a bit more interesting personality
3) Alistar. Weird humour, and my canon-warden's love, so a no-brainer. But Cass is a cool char nevertheless, and I like her
4) Blackwall, again mostly to piass off the whole "Loghain is such a good villain"-crowd ... see 1)
5)Iron Bull. Because Sten is very much a "true" Qunari, and I hate "true" Qunari, may they all burn like the arishok, hehe
6) Lelianna, she is a redhead, which always wins. And she sings. And is bi. And a spy. Yet Sera is wonderfuly bonkers...tough one
7)What kind of choice is that? Plague or cholera? Ah, let's go Zevran here, at least he has some charm, and not such an awful HAT!
8) What happened to 8) ?? Shale? Shale wins
9) Varric, better voice, more personality, less annoying. Winner all the way
10) Dorian. The moustache alone gives him an edge over Anders the Ever-Whining. Hopefully he returns in the next game

Even though I like her, I agree that Morrigan is highly overrated as a mage (at least before she possibly learns how to transform into a High Dragon). Of course, my opinion could be clouded by a high level of gameplay-lore segregation.

Seriously why many seems to discuss who is more powerful between Solas and Morrigan it's a no contest, the answer is clear, Morrigan bend on the knee in front of her Mother, while Flemeth bend on the knee in front of Fen Harel.
Solas is so superior that he has even rejected the well of sorrow,he is completely into another league at end of DAI and look at the power of his Orb.

I believe that The Warden's party would win hands down. Consider the circumstances of their respective adventures: The Warden's crew were outlaws, hunted by the well loved Logain and his allies throughout the country as well as the Darkspawn. Constantly hounded, they had few allies and had to rely on themselves throughout their journey. In contrast, The Inquisitors inner circle had a foundation, resources and the support of hundreds from the very beginning. While unquestionably skilled and set against a dangerous enemy, The Inquisitor and inner circle had a plush ride while based in their castle. And were the surviving members of The Wardens party to regroup and take on The Inquisitors party in present day Thedas they would still win as not only do they have their previous wins under their belt, most have all no doubt grown in skill, experience and power in the subsequent 10 years since they disbanded.

2.Vivienne. She is ruthless.
3.Cassandra. She is trained to hunt corrupt Templars AND Mages.
4. Loghain
5. Iron Bull because he is Iron ****** Bull.
6. Leliana all day. Is this a joke? Sera would be dead before she could open her annoying trap.
7. Cole because Zevran is a poor assassin. Leliana even says this when talking to her in Skyhold.

Here's Shale's reply:
1)Morrigan vs Solas
"The Swamp Witch is sadist as a bird, but the Egg needs a good crushing if it dares hatch. The Fight goes to the Swamp Witch."
2) Wynne vs Vivienne
"The Elder Mage has experience as its asset, but the Preposterous is acidic in tone and it is certainly brutal in its ways. The Preposterous takes the fight through sheer aggressivity."
3) Cassandra vs Alistair
"The Grey Warden is proficient in the art of defeat and receiving wounds. The Braided Dragon Hunter is proficient in the art of victory and inflicting them. It takes the fight."
4) Blackwall vs Loghain
"The Bearded Soldier stands its ground strong but the Rogue-Soldier knows its warfare. The Rogue-Soldier was once defeated by its inability to kill its own progeny. Maybe the Bearded Soldier could exploit its strategic weakness. I would crush the both of them if it would come to that."
5)Iron Bull vs Sten
"The Horned Qunari looks strong, but it has poor taste in drinks and lacks elementary notions of hygiene. Is it as fearsome and marvelous in battle as the Qunari? I have my doubt. The Qunari should make short work of the Horned Qunari."
6)Leliana vs Sera
"The Sister calls itself after the Spawn of Evil and consorts with Dark Pigeons. It has clearly passed the line and it should be executed swiftly and with a definitive lack of mercy. I specifically told the Bowman of its weakness for elegant footwear, I presume it will prove a formidable asset in its fight against the Sister. The fight goes to the Bowman, I will personally make sure of that."
7)Cole vs Zevran
"The Spirit Boy speaks of others as if it was in their heads. The Painted Elf speaks of itself as a Crow. I don't want to hear the Spirit Boy shriek like a bird. Make it quick, Painted Elf, if possible elsewhere."
9)Varric vs Oghren
"The Chest Hair and the Drunken Dwarf have a lot in common, but if the chest hair can refrain from smelling the foul breath of its opponent, I think it can take the fight home with a bolt where the Drunken Dwarf likes to scratch. Then the Chest Hair will please me with the wonder of its weaponry: it looks like a good design for the hunting of birds"
10) Dorian vs Anders
"The Tevinter and the Grey Warden should get a room. I have seen what comes after fleshlings consume alcoholic beverages in fair amounts. Their faces glow pink and their coupling grows near. We shall not discuss this anymore. This fight is a tie."

1) Morrigan VS Solas:
Solas, because Morrigan isn't carrying Mythal just yet
2) Wynne VS Vivienne:
Vivienne, I think Wynne is too much of a softy and lacks enough attack power to take down Viv before she can use her KE spec to it's fullest potential
3) Cassandra VS Alistair:
Cassandra, she's much more experienced, a great leader and a hero in her own regard. Also there's some rumors going around that Alistair did in fact take Lyrium, which basically makes it a no brainer that Cassandra can just knock him out straight away with her Seeker gift.
4) Blackwall VS Loghain
Loghain, a seasoned warrior that helped free Ferelden of Orlais' iron grip. There's not much that can win against him, especially not a chevalier.GJ Blandwall, you're so boring I forgot your background
5) Iron Bull VS Sten
I think IB would win by sheer force, but he probably will let Sten win if Sten took up the mantle of Arishok
6) Leliana VS Sera
Leliana, although give Sera a few more years and she can get on an equal level with Leli.
7) Cole VS Zevran
Cole, he's a spirit, can make people forget. Unfair advantage for him from the get go, Zevran really stands no chance, unless the elf outsmarts Cole somehow
8) ?
9) Varric VS Oghren
Varric. Ranged VS Melee? Srsly? This is just unfair from the get go, so long as Varric keeps kiting Oghren, there's no chance Oghren can get in range to whack Varric even a single time.
10) Dorian VS Anders
Dorian.Because **** DA2 ANDERS!Dorian's most likely more experienced because Tevinter allows mages to flourish as well as the fact that in theory, Dorian's Necromancer spec is 10 times more usefull than Ander's spirit healer spec. An army of undead is great against a single mage.
^This. Word for word.

The Warden's Party would win because i feel that all of them are more experienced then The Inquisitor's party. The Warden also has a Hulk... i mean A Shale and a Barkspawn. The Inquisitor does not. The Inquisitor does have a Hawke but that will just annoy the Shale and cause her to go into "SHALE SMASH! Mode.
The Warden's Party fought all kind of horrors whilst having a large bounty placed on their heads or sharing the same bounty because they were with the Warden. The Inquisitor fought Demons, Dragons and a bit of Darkspawn but they are not soldiers. All of the Warden's companions could have easily become Grey Wardens due to their skills in battle. Demons are bastards to kill but Darkspawn are bigger bastards and can kill you even after death unless you're a Warden.
Oghren vs Varric: Provided Varric doesn't shoot Oghren in the head and Oghren's helmet doesn't do much, Oghren would win. He is the best warrior the dwarves have to offer and it was his job to fight. Now, he just fights Darkspawn for the Grey Wardens and slowly bringing the organisation into a lot of debt for buying too much booze on the Grey Warden's tab. Maker help Thedas if the two go out for drinks and go on a pub crawl.
Morrigan vs Solas: This is a tricky one. On one hand, Morrigan knows a fair amount of the old magic and is a powerful witch that can turn into almost anything. On the other, Solas is an elven god. I would say it's a draw unless Solas is back at full power. Even a Mage Warden may not be able to defeat a fully powered Solas. DA:I Solas, Morrigan would win due to her spells being more damaging and she is unpredictable.
Sera vs Leiliana: Leiliana is immune to death. Sera could keep killing her over and over again. Nah, just kidding. Leiliana is a hardened Bard that knows too many ways to kill someone and not go "Mwahahahah, i am Evil Princess Stabbity, Stab, Kill." Bows, Knives, Poisons, Summoning The Warden once per decade, those are her skills. Sera is a talented Rogue but has a lot to learn. That said, Sera may find her breeches being nailed to a chantry board.
Dorian vs Wynne: Dorian would win due to him being a necromancer and Wynne is more of a healer. She could nag him to death about his socks turning up in her bedroll though.
Zev vs Cole: Zev would win because he knows a lot of ways to kill people. He is the best crow in the business and pretty much tears it apart instead of waiting to be killed. He managed to avoid being killed in combat by the warden although that could have been luck and was smart enough to set up an ambush that wasn't "There's teh warden! Everyone! Charge at him at close range! Fire at him from a short range!". However, Cole is a spirit and i get the feeling they would not fight. Just end up in bed together.
Sten vs The Bull: This would be an interesting fight but i would say in terms of sheer brute force, the Bull would win. Dude is ripped and pretty much uses brute force to kill his enemies along with speed. In terms of tatics and patience and cookie eating, Sten would win. He is a soldier of the Antaam and his sole purpose is to be a warrior. Stenishok would most likely order Bull to stop and Bull would probably obey. In terms of Qunariness, Sten would win. Bull is The Iron Bull! Sten is The Sten that obeys the Qun and was given the title of Arishok because he fought against Darkspawn just for an answer.
Alistair vs Cassandra: It would be a close fight but i would say Cass would win due to her having more experience then Alistair and being a Seeker. However, Alistair is a Grey Warden that fought an Archdemon but i think most people would rather face an Arch Demon then Cass's deadly disapproval stare. And her fists. And her tendecy to break the furniture or stab books.
Shale vs hmmm, The inquisitor doesn't have a portable Battering Ram that loves killing birds.
Barkspawn vs the mounts: He is a pure bred marbari warhound that loves to be a bit of a cheeky puppy. The mounts are a bit boring and lack characteristics.
Sandal vs Dagna: ENCHANTMENT! Sandal is erm..... er..... Well, Sandal. He kinda just exists and froze a charging ogre.
Scout Harding vs Sigrun: According to Oghren and Varric, they both make hot steamy dwarven love. This may or may not have been told during their epic battle against the thousands of pints of booze that they consumed.
Mr Snupples vs The Inquisitor's sock puppet: The Nug wins. Why? Because the Inquisitor never gets his/her own pet.
The Warden vs the Inquisitor: Both get utterly drunk and wind up in Antiva in their small clothes, a broken Starfang and a cake of despair.
Hawke vs teh Warden: Warden and Hawke get drunk in the Hanged Man and end up accidentally being ran out of the city for drinking the entire city's supply of ale. Hence the Tale of the Champion being amde up by Varric as no-one wants to hear about The famed Hero of Ferelden and The Champion of Kirkwall getting drunk. Rumour has it, that they are now using their beards to summon the biggest beard of all so that they can consume it's power. There shall only be One bearded Badass in Thedas.
Yeah, i kinda got a bit silly along the way. The Nugs forced me to!

As a team, Warden's party could defeat Inquisitor's party easily.
What they achieved is far greater than what Inquisition achieved and they did all that without the help of another powerful dragon or a powerful ally like Orlais. They defeated a Blight with its whole Darkspawn Horde and a "True" Archdemon while ending two civil wars (Ferelden, Orzammar), ending ages old Werewolf Curse, ending a possible Blood Mage rebellion before it actually started and finding the Sacred Ashes and the Anvil of Void which even the most devoted Andrastians and ancestor worshipping dwarves didn't believe existed. Also, Warden defeated even Flemeth herself.
Solas is perfectly calm throughout entire DAI except for just one time: The conversation between him and Inquisitor after what happened in Adamant. Solas freaked out when he learnt that Orlesian Wardens intended to go to Ancient Prisons to kill Old Gods, fearing they would unleash something far worse than Corypheus and his pet dragon. When Inquisitor says "they could have given a demon army to Corypheus" or "I think that would be a good idea, to prevent future Blights", Solas says "demon army is just a tool, not that important. The real threat is Blight". Blight seems to be a threat so great that even Solas freaks out.
Also, Warden's party is led by a better leader and a stronger warrior. Warden is obviously the most powerful protagonist. Some people believe that any grey warden could end the Blight, they have not played Darkspawn Chronicles, obviously. Darkspawn Chronicles exists to show us what would happen if the Warden didn't survive the Joining. Alistair leads the party and the army and fails real hard. The Blight destroys everything including Alistair, Leliana (Alistair's lover in Darkspawn Chronicles), Morrigan(mocks and insults Alistair constantly, even for very little mistakes, and never respects him), Dog (That moron named the dog Barkspawn) and whole Ferelden. Also, those people obviously haven't heard about the previous Blights. Take the Fourth Blight for example, there were thousands of Grey Wardens in whole Thedas and they had Griffons yet it took about two decades for them to end the Blight. Warden is also the breavest one, that is canon regardless of our choices and dialogue options in DAO. Warden goes directly to the Archdemon while even Hawke and Isabela flees Ferelden at the mere sight of Genlocks and Hurlocks.
Individually;
1)Morrigan vs Solas: It is hard to tell, in Solas' weakened state. In his weakened state (since he was newly "awakened") Morrigan may win but in his full power Solas could win I guess. Though, that wouldn't be good for his health, especially if the Warden romanced Morrigan.
2) Wynne vs Vivienne: Wynne is more of a healer type but still she is experienced, has a spirit inside that helps her and enables her to perform miraculous healing magic (plot skill) and is a veteran of Fifth Blight so I say Wynne. Wynne also was able to hold all the Abominations in the Circle Tower all by herself, so definitely Wynne.
3) Cassandra vs Alistair: That's a tough one. Both are strong. One has a spirit in her, other has dragon blood. Against Blight Alistair could be much more useful though Cassandra wins in a single combat I think.
4) Blackwall vs Loghain: Now that's what I call a single combat. Orlesian commander vs Orlesian-Hating-Fereldan-Commander. Though it would hardly be a competitive match, Loghain could easily win. He killed so many guys like Tom Rainier in the Battle of the River Dane.
5)Iron Bull vs Sten: Another easy single combat. Sten is just too cool and too strong to lose to a Tal-Vashoth, even if that Tal-Vashoth is Iron Bull. And he's a hornless Qunari! Arishok wins of course. Also let me remind you this simple fact, Sten fought against creatuers much bigger and stronger than Iron Bull.
6)Leliana vs Sera: Leliana doesn't even die and she's a very good archer, just like Sera. Leliana is also good with blades and can be very ruthless. Not dumb like Sera. Leliana wins.
7)Cole vs Zevran: Spirit vs Crow. Tough match. I cannot say but I love Zevran. The only assassination target he failed to assassinate was the Hero of Ferelden and he is a veteran of Fifth Blight so he may win, or may not, depending on "what" exactly Cole is.
9)Varric vs Oghren: Not even a competition. Oghren is the best warrior of his generation and thanks to his fame he was able to marry Branka. Oghren of course.
10) Dorian vs Anders: Anders of course. With or without Justice/Vengeance I think. If left in upgraded Vigil's Keep in DAO: Awakening, he holds all the waves of Darkspawn attacks and keeps the Vigil safe, hailed as a hero and that was before when he became Vengeance's vessel.

On terms of pure power, a rogue has no place
Power is only as good as one's ability to use it before being killed. A killing machine that can wipe out the enemy before they're even aware that they're about to die has a place everywhere.

Cassandra Vs. Alistair: No contest. Cassandra would win in seconds. Remember that she, as a Seeker, has the ability to affect the Lyrium in the blood of Mages and Templars. Alistair is a Templar, though he never took the regular treatments of Lyrium of Templars fully dedicated to the Order, he must have been taking some small amount to maintain his abilities. Also, depending on choices made in DA:O, he can end up a king or a drunk. A drunken Alistair will not be winning any fights, especially against a Seeker. As a king, Alistair hasn't been on the front lines of battle in a long time.
Zevran Vs. Cole: I would give this one to Zevran if he were fighting against another Rouge, but he is not. Cole, as a Spirit, has unpredictable abilites, the ability to read minds among them. If Zevran were aware that he was to face a Spirit then I'm sure he would prepare, giving him a slight advantage, then again, how can one prepare for forgetting that your opponent exists? Also, Cole may look like human but what about physiologically? If Zevran stabbed Cole in the juggular he would be wounded but would it kill him like it would a human or elf? Does Cole have a juggular? Would poisons affect him the same way? These unknowns could instantly shift the balance of power in a fight between two skilled Rouges. With so many unknowns as well as the ability to become unknown I think that Cole would win.
Morrigan Vs. Solas: Tough, considering we do not know Solas' full capabilities. For the purpose of this post I will assume that Solas has the capabilities of a powerful Mage as he demonstrated in DA:I. In this case I believe that Morrigan would win. Not only is she ruthless, experienced and a veteran of the 5th Blight, she, like Solas has deep knowledge of old forgotten magics. Unlike Solas however, Morrigan knows how to wield them. Solas states that while he knows about Blood Magic, he does not practice it. Morrigan not only knows a great deal about Blood Magic and other forgotten Spells and Rituals, she has practical experience in actually using them. In this battle, and any really, practical knowledge and experience trump knowledge by itself.
Dorian Vs. Anders: If we were to rank the Mages of Thedas by their countries/organizations based on power and skill then Tevinter and The Grey Wardens would both be at the top of the list as neither country/organization restrict their Mages and both encourage the use and growth of their talents. The difference being that the Wardens train their Mages for hardened combat and while there are no doubt powerful Mages in the Tevinter military similarly trained, most Mages in Tevinter are not expected to be on the front lines. In this The Warden Mages have the advantage as does Anders. Dorian, while skilled in combat, was not explicitly trained to be so. Anders has the advantage of combat training as well as experience. He survived against Abominations and Blood Mages during Uldred's uprising and the siege of Amaranthine against The Mother. And of course lets us not forget Justice. One could conceive that a Mage skilled such as Dorian could make up for the other disadvantages with his top notch magical education and lifelong unrestrained growth of magical talent but the boost in power and resilience granted by Justice would be too great for Dorian to overcome.

Morrigan over Solas -- both are very knowledgeable about magic, but Morrigan does not have boundaries against practicing them all like Solas does.
Vivienne over Wynne -- anyone who thinks an elderly spirit-healer would best a battlemage is plain nuts.
Cassandra over Alistair -- Cass may be the strongest companion in the series, so she would mop the floor with the Therin man-child.
Blackwall over Loghain -- I imagine they are close in skill, so age decides it. Loghain is old now. Blackwall is pretty much in his prime.
Sten over Iron Bull -- Gotta think that if 'Bull were really a better combatant than Sten, he would be Sten of the Beresaad instead of... Sten.
Leliana over Sera -- Leliana is supposed to be one of the best in the business; Sera is a glorified thug.
Zevran over Cole -- reading Zevran would overwhelm Cole with dirty thoughts and leave him stunned, easy prey for Zev.
Varric over Oghren -- I suspect Varric would have enough tricks up his sleeve to keep Oghren out of melee-range. I'll say this, though: if Oghren can get a lick on Varric, though, it's over.

Still no takers for the Zevran vs. Bull sex-off?
BSN is letting me down today.
This one is quite easy: one of them is Isabela's mentor. And he crossed out Hawke, Alistair, the Hero of Ferelden and Leliana from his todo list.
"Alright, alright, I get it, you want to Beg the Crow."
"w-wait uh I uh"
"You want the Kiss of Death. The Stabbing of the Queen. The Picking of the Lock. The Rapture of the Reaver. The Acorn Trick in the Tree Stump."
"well..."
"'Cause I sure as hell would like to ride the Bull."
Cut to Isabela running in slow motion, anime style, her hand reaching out, eyes half closed, tears flying, wailing "wait for meeeeee..."

The title says it all. Who'd you think would win if each companion had a one on one versus a comparable other. Some characters may be left out
1)Morrigan vs Solas ( Apostates with secrets)
2) Wynne vs Vivienne(Spent their lives in the Circle)
3) Cassandra vs Alistair (Sword and shield templar types)
4) Blackwall vs Loghain (Sword and shield champions seeking Redemption)
5)Iron Bull vs Sten (Quanari two-handed)
6)Leliana vs Sera ( lithe female archers)
7)Cole vs Zevran (Stealthy Duel Wielders)
Optional :
9)Varric vs Oghren ( Red head Dwarves adding Humour)
10) Dorian vs Anders(Wise Cracking Mages)
Morrigan vs Solas: one of the hard ones here. Both are largely unknowns in terms of true power. Solas has far more experience, getting down to things, but even he'll admit he's not anywhere close to as powerful as he might have been. Morrigan, on the other hand, is frightfully manipulative, ruthless, and clever, not to mention has been described as having power akin to the Warden...who is basically the Chuck Norris of the DA universe. For a fight in terms of survival, I'd go with Morrigan, the practical survivor.
Wynne vs. Vivienne: Wynne, with her spirit, is tremendously powerful, and that's on top of her already being a mage of notable power. I don't find this to be much of a contest.
Cassandra vs Alistair: Another close one. Cassandra has superior training, and at the beginning of their respective games Cassandra easily wins, but Alistair also has a tremendous amount of experience which eventually turns him into a force to be reckoned with. For that, I have to let Alistair edge this one out. Barely.
Blackwall vs. Loghain: Loghain is a swordsman, not to mention tactician, of legendary ability. This isn't a fight. It's a slaughter.
Iron Bull vs. Sten: Discipline versus passion and strength. From my experience, discipline typically wins out. Sten takes this.
Leliana vs. Sera: Leliana the immensely talented bard...and Sera the street prankster. Yeah, no.
Cole vs Zevran: This is an interesting matchup, mostly because Cole's ability is so incredibly overpowered. But one should not discount Zevran, who actually is one of the most powerful characters in the series. At first he comes off as somewhat pathetic, yes, but we eventually find he is supposed to be extremely skilled, not to mention eventually killed his way to the top of an assassin's guild powerful enough to run a major country and head off a fanatical army while being hunted by said guild. The thing with Cole is that he tends to rely on his power, and is arrogant with it. He shows his face before he kills, but his actual fighting skills are...little to write home about. If he were to straight up stab Zevran in the neck without ever having appeared then that'd be that. But he wouldn't. He'd come in while Zevran was sleeping, become visible, raise his blade, state some words...and be stabbed repeatedly in the face by the best assassin in the world.
Varric vs. Oghren: One of the top warriors in a warrior society constantly at war...and a writer with a fancy bow. Varric would shoot him multiple times as Oghren charged, only for the drunken lout to cleave him with his ax and state Branka hit harder.
Dorian vs. Anders: Anders in DA2 as Vengeance would have made him extremely powerful, but Origins? Eh... I think Dorian might just edge him out there, as Anders seems more the cunning rogue than a dominating battlefield presence, though he certainly is powerful.
