so I had an Idea and let me know if you think it would work or if you have anything better in mind. So I was thinking that it would have been much better to have each companion with their own personal mount. so when the Inquisitor calls up his Nugalope or what have you they poof onto their own mount to follow. this would keep the banter trigger active so players could keep that going as they explore the more open areas of the game. it would also be interesting to see what each companion rides as it would fit their personality and give them a bit more realism then suddenly poofing away when I take my mount. this could open up fun races with your companions or dialogue about their mount. this would also give more purpose to the stables that only house one single mount at a time.
A way to fix Mounts

I personally really like the idea, but I really doubt bioware would implement in this game or any future games, if they keep the mounts, because of lazy...lack of resources. I would also have liked to be able to fight from the mount, but we can only dream ![]()

I like this idea, I doubt it would ever happen. Bioware's struggling with enough in the game but I really do like that idea!

I wonder if it originally was going to be possible to fight from mounts because of those perks you can get. How often did anyone simply ride through enemies rather than avoid them? So what was the purpose of the perk that made it harder to dislodge you? Did anyone actually take those perks?
I did the next best thing to each having their own mount and varied who actually rode the mount just to see what they looked like. Dorian in his long length mage outfit and Inquisitor Hat looked an awful lot like Zorro.

mounted combat would have been a great addition to the game and sadly it just makes the game feel like it was rushed with large chunks of the game cut out for time.

Agreed. If modding ever becomes possible, I know where to steal borrow some code ...

Companions on their own mounts, FASTER mounts and the ability to attack and interact on top of the mount (Don't you hate it to get off your mount, mark a landmark or smthn and then get back up?) would make em LOTS more usefull.

sad fact is this should not have had to be modded into the game

True. But I think it's even more sad that EA can't recognize the fact that modding isn't a competitor to its precious micro-transaction sales but is an element that keeps a fanbase continually interested in a franchise for years after its last major launch, which keeps people talking about it which helps usher in new players, new sales, etc. Currently Skyrim is enjoying 30k+ numbers on Stream charts to this day and there's no way such a number would be possible without modding.

Console Skyrim outsold PC Skyrim so I'm pretty sure that last sentence just isn't true.

That really is a good idea, but I'm pretty sure everyone has already thought of it... except BioWare... probably.
Seriously, that's the most obvious way to make mounts better, and I don't know why BioWare couldn't come up with that themselves.

I doubt Bioware hasn't thought of these things. Odds are they're just putting their effort in elsewhere, like singleplayer DLC or multiplayer. If I recall rightly, in a poll someone did here, or a thread or soemthing, it seemed as if most players never even used mounts, they preferred to just run around. While these ideas could very well cause mount use to increase, Bioware would have to consider the time it would take, and if that lost time would be worth it if ultimately most of the playerbase still didn't use the feature.
Party mounts would be the best thing to add, I think. It seems (though I am entirely ignorant to the process, so) that it'd be the easies to implement, at least? Combat would be difficult considering the varieties in class and attack styles, and I personally don't mind having to get off my horse to stick a stake in the ground sometimes. XD

I can't say what the devs where thinking but hopefully they take some of the great ideas on the forums and apply them to the next game.

Perhaps initially, but I'd have a hard time believing that's the same now.
And as far as I know, Steam Charts = PC Charts, consoles aren't included.

I have my headcanons about which mount each companion prefers and they do ride alongside the Inquisitor but it would be nice if it was in the actual game not something I pretend happens.

Yeah, I always feel bad for my party...well except for Solas and Blackwell.
I'm pretty sure on the second play through I just drug Solas behind me.

The only place "Console Skyrim" outsold "PC Skyrim" was in physical copies, which isn't a big surprise given that the vast majority of sales for PC is digital.

party banter not triggering is the reason why i never use mounts. if party banter still triggered while mounted, then i would use mounts.

A bit off topic, but I think the point is that modding extends the life of a (PC) game. Sales may not be anywhere near the peak first 30 days after release, but it is remarkable that 3.5 years after release, people still buy the game, usually to play a specific mod. Plus, modding keeps fans happy while the studio works on the next game ... which would be Fallout 4. ![]()

thats why a companion mount system is a good way to keep them in game and talking
