I wonder why Tranquility is only available for Mage Inquisitor?

I find it weird, what exactly stops a non-Mage inquisitor, especially one that might recruit Templars,to be unable to Tranquil Mages?

Anyone with knowledge to Tranquil being unavailable except for the Mage inquisitor seems very unlikely, especially when probably only the Human Mage Inquisitor has ever been to The Circle of Magi.

I wondered this, and also wondered what kind of mage would even possibly conceive of inflicting tranquility on another mage, even if they were pro circle/chantry.

Why can Tranquility only be inflicted upon mages? It is a mystery.

Alot of mages wonder why too, which is why there's a war table mission about this called "How Could You?"

Wow, I had no idea it was like this.

Well, I played a Mage (still do) and the only person that I made tranquil was the Tevinter Magister Erimond that was manipulating the Wardens.

My reasoning? To show the Tevinter mages working with Corypheus a clear warning: A fate worse than death for those who ruin the lives of hundreds, if not thousands.

Honestly, it was probably the most satisfying judgement I ever did

Alexius was atleast grief-stricken and somewhat repentant

There's absolutely no reason for non-mages to not have this option available to them.

Eh, Vivienne approves if you make Erimond(sp?) from Here Lies the Abyss tranquil

I don't use that option because it generally garners a lot of disapproval. OT, I really find it strange that you have to be a mage in order to do that. Especially when you probably have the means to do it at your disposal.

Erimond?

I did it strictly because of his reaction.

It's hilarious.

He basically pissed himself

Poor Warder. No doling out magical lobotomy for his default character.

Aparently the only reason is that the inquisition mages are only willing to accept the tranquility since the inquisitor is a Mage. Guess they forget people could have also sided with the tempars

The only punishment that actually phases Erimond is Tranquility.  He basically scoffs at all the others.  Therefore, (IMHO) Tranquility was the only appropriate course of action...

His reaction to the sentence of Tranquility can be seen here .

He does get upset, but then you're condemning him to a life of not caring about anything. Which seems kind of self defeating if what you're trying to do is inflict pain on him.

Or you could just do it because his reaction is funny

This is about why only Mage Inquisitor can sentence someone to Tranquility,i would love a BW reply on this,i don't think it was ever addressed in the game.

Honestly, why would a Dalish or Qunari mage even know about the rite? I mean unless they learned it from Vivienne, it only makes sense to get that as a human mage (with it being mage-locked).

It isn't a ****** lobotomy.

It's a disgusting and inaccurate comparison.

Tranquility doesn't impact the physical body.

No one dies from a botched tranquility.

There is really no gameplay reason to have it be a mage-only option (unlike the options that appear only if you have taken certain perks or requisite actions) so it must be something else. It could be more of a statement than anything, that non-mages, no matter who they are, should not have this power over mages.
