I'm here to ask the question that's on no one's everyone's mind. We may have moved on from the horrible fundoshi nightmare that was nudity in Origins (not to mention the inexplicable vanishing bra -- thanks, Morrigan!), but if I'm going out in the field I NEED to know my crew is well-equipped.

So, boxers or briefs?

Dorian's "silky underthings" are canon, and I'm assuming he wears boxer-briefs... but I'm biased.

Vivienne wears high-quality undies, as per Sera banter. Obvs she's rocking the French Orlesian knickers.

Apparently Cass goes commando, or else she stitches her name into her undies. Verdict's out.

Bull likewise has got to be freeballin'. There's a reason he likes No Pants Fridays.

Josie wears a full-on lacy bodice and bloomers combo, maybe with a chemise or something, and nobody can convince me otherwise.

Solas wears hobo elf longjohns, probably with a butt flap.

Sera likes mooning people. Would smallclothes just get in the way? I DON'T KNOW.

At any rate... Despite the atrocious DAO underwear, I kind of assumed that most "smallclothes" were sort of like light cotton/linen breeches with a drawstring, so that's what I picture my guy Inquisitor wearing. Never gave much thought to my gal's underwear.

You're probably right. But with Thedas as varied as it is, I figured the underwear sort of matches the outerwear. So, braies for Fereldans, codpieces/petticoats/corsets as you go farther north...

Because of the influence the devs have drawn from the Romans for Tevinter, I'm not exactly sure what Dorian would be wearing. "Silky underthings" is hardly descriptive. He also does refer to his father wearing "smallclothes," but that seems like such a generic term it can apply to anything. The Romans apparently adopted the braies from the Gauls. But who knows really.

Not that I've thought about it   but going by modern undies (and ignoring the fact they'd be in pretty similar 'smallclothes' or nothing in their reality):

 

Sera- boyshorts or hipsters

Varric- briefs

Cassandra- Hi-cut briefs (but she has a few lacy pairs of bikinis  )

Vivienne- String bikini or tangas

Solas- commando or jockstrap (those leggings leave nothing to the imagination; no VUL or very minimal VUL for him)

Cole- doesn't understand what's going on so he's in a onesie with a butt flap at minimum

Dorian- bikinis, low rise briefs, or jockstrap

Iron Bull- boxer briefs, commando, or jockstrap (if there's one that can contain him  )
