Is anyone really disappointed by the drops of fade rifts? And is anyone else disappointed by the annoyingly random way to get Fade-Touched materials?

Here's my suggestion: have every Fade Rifts drop a different Fade-Touched material. You only get one of each. However, to compensate and allow you to use them without the risk of losing one forever by messing up on crafting, you should be able to recover them from armors and weapons. This also adds some more puzzling and interesting choices into the game, because suddenly you can't just give everyone Fade-Touched Silverite (after entirely too many hours of farming -.-').

So basically, you get one Fade-Touched material from each Rift and you can recover them from equipment (maybe even from rare/legendary weapons).

I think that would lead to a more satisfying crafting system and thus a more satisfying game.

No. Getting only one of each would mean that I wouldn't be able to use 5 hidden blades or 5 guard on hit on several different characters and that would seriously suck. Also, I have no problems with the fade touched materials or the drop loots from rifts, so I don't see absolutely any reason to change them. So no, I'm definitely not disappointed at all.

Why? Do you honestly feel min-maxing is more rewarding than figuring how to make a party that works well together?

Everyone likes to play differently and I have my sixth playthrough (1526 hours in total/apt) going on just fine, without still needing to micromanage my team compositions/builds (maybe in nightmare it will be more needed). And if I have several same fade-touched materials in my disposal - ones that I like - why the heck shouldn't I be allowed to use them as I wish? There is no set rule how you should build your team. If someone wants to make every team member different then that's just fine but there's no need to make those who don't suffer for it. Besides, I highly doubt this is something that BW would ever consider changing.

"Not make people suffer for it." That's exactly it. Grinding is suffering, to me. I would much rather see decent rewards from rifts and a choice to be made about who gets what, rather than hunting hours on end for "the best" Fade-Touched materials.

Yes, but changing it to one fade-touched item per material would again be suffering/unfair to others, to players like me. It's a no-win situation right there. I'd rather see the drop rate of the FTM's increased, instead of limiting them to just one.

What is this? You can't just suggest that Fade-Touches items be easily farmed from a guaranteed source? I really don't like your suggestion and vastly prefer what we have now to your idea.

Agreed. I too prefer it the way it is now.

I like the way it is now too. How would your idea work anyway, OP? Would the easier fade rifts drop crappier fade-touched materials? Would we know which rifts dropped which material?

Couldn't you solve that problem by not farming? And solve your main problem by not grinding?

I hacked them all into the game. CheatEngine FTW! But the very fact that I have to use a CheatEngine to bypass part of the game is terrible design. That doesn't mean that Fade Rift drops are suddenly interesting though, nor does it actually make crafting any better. It's still ultimately min-maxing rather than working with the limited resources you have.

I was one of the people who actually liked the limited supply of runes you got in DA:O. I like crafting, but it seriously shouldn't be a race to the best materials so you can get the best equipment. And you shouldn't have to either farm for hours or actually hold on to your rare materials rather than experimenting with them.

Like have a companion option to go off and farm? By a menu or the war table and what you get is proportional to who you send.  Something to this effect was posted earlier as a Sera activity for her and one companion.

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of just making do with whatever drops, myself

The drop rate for fade-touched materials is already too high. They should be rarities that you hope to find (with power to match); instead, they're overpowered certainties in the current system. Adding in guaranteed drops would just make the situation worse.

Rift treasure is typically useless, but the rune-crafting materials are the main reward. I don't think they need to be adjusted (the rifts in Jaws do drop a lot more, but that may be because certain stuff can only be found within the DLC area).
