Random ideas that pop up in my head. Things that could be used in Dragon Age Inquisition and/or future games. Will add stuff as I think about them.

  • MP could use to have an option to allow bots to join you temporarily OR permanently while waiting for people to join you mid game.
  • MP monsters should be difficulty scaled to the amount of players joining matches and change as players join, to allow some solo farming on earlier levels. Experimented players don't need to do that, though some people who aren't lucky enough to find partners are stuck to play alone.
  • Please allow us to leave loading screens if they take too long to send us in a match, specially on the Ferelden Castle loading screen. It takes forever.
  • MP usernames should have a language flag for people with microphones saying which languages we can speak, making conversations easier and faster.
  • MP classes and skills would be fun if they were implemented in the SP mode through a DLC or an expansion. I would love to play a Virtuoso-like specialization for a mage Inquisition as I'm a huge fan of Support-type classes.
  • MP characters would be interesting if you could have conversations with them in the SP as you unlock them either through in the SP through quests or MP armor making.
  • Some AoE spells can be a little bit tricky, I suggest spells and skills that would affect every allies or every enemies in sight, a bit like the Focus ability "Rally".
  • More tweaks with the Tac Cam, as the way it's handled right now in the game is not satisfactory. Please allow players to play in bird view.
  • Allow SP players to convert weapons, accessories, upgrades into materials like MP players. I can't understand why this option isn't there yet as you can already "destroy" those items. Converting into materials would save us a lot of trouble from purchasing some of them or having to look for them.

Add your own ideas.

With all the Problems I have had with the MP systems and I can't be alone in this as solo works fine, MMOS etc. work.  Having an option to simply use companions or add them when someone is dropped would be handy.  B4 folks rant on DAIMP is for only people, consider how long it has been out and MP has only linked only a short times b4 it failed.

They need a saturation limit that warns you of instability B4 you start.

Better team IP balance -a warning if someone is 20% Slower than the team, they will likely drop out especially if they are dropping packets.

  • A way to ban players from joining your hosted games, not just kicking them. Sometimes, I happen to cross some people who are rude or won't cooperate with me or my other team mates, than that person always wants to kick me out of the team, even when I am the leader. Having a "ban" option would help some people having a better multiplayer experience in Dragon Age.

Yes that one may be sensitive, but some folks are so self interested they make poor team mates, so an exclude list like your firewall or antivirus would be preferable.  On the other hand, folks you like, but have connection issues dropping packets and the, like could be on an "if stable" list

Like, seriously players... respect your Keepers... You need barriers right? Then protect them. Virtuoso and Keeper are two of the best support classes there is in the MP and if the melee characters keep moving in different directions, we're forced to run after them and it breaks our formation to keep everyone safe. XD

  • Bringing the Mabari Hound in MP as a playable character, with the warrior skill to bash through wall. Other species of pets as playable characters could be fun as well.

For SP adding some humanoid enemies spawns e.g bandit, mercenary after a area has been cleared, gives away for people to finish req quest, gather materials after the previous enemies stop spawning.

PSN has an ignore list.  I'm pretty sure that would work.

Kind of defeats the purpose of it being a team-based co-op.  The less people in the match with you (whether due to them being in the Fade or just no one being in your lobby), the more difficult the game gets, which makes sense considering how the MP is designed.

  • Please allow us to leave loading screens if they take too long to send us in a match, specially on the Ferelden Castle loading screen. It takes forever.

Ok, that's a reasonable request.  Personally, I'd like something like the option to leave in ME3 MP if you get WFOPed (stuck on the 'Waiting for other players' screen).

  • MP usernames should have a language flag for people with microphones saying which languages we can speak, making conversations easier and faster.

This has more to do with online gaming in general rather than just DA MP.  The only way I can think of to check someone's primary language is to check their profile, which isn't exactly practical while in a match.

  • MP classes and skills would be fun if they were implemented in the SP mode through a DLC or an expansion. I would love to play a Virtuoso-like specialization for a mage Inquisition as I'm a huge fan of Support-type classes.

I'd like this too, but I doubt it'll happen.  A lot of abilities in ME3 MP never got carried over to story, and I'm pretty sure it'll be the same for DA:I.

  • MP characters would be interesting if you could have conversations with them in the SP as you unlock them either through in the SP through quests or MP armor making.

Hearing banter between them (think Citadel DLC) is probably the most we can hope for.

  • Some AoE spells can be a little bit tricky, I suggest spells and skills that would affect every allies or every enemies in sight, a bit like the Focus ability "Rally".

That kind of defeats the purpose of them being AoE abilities.  Yes, some of them are tricky to place, but that just means you have to adapt rather than ask for the mechanics regarding their placement to be completely changed.

  • More tweaks with the Tac Cam, as the way it's handled right now in the game is not satisfactory. Please allow players to play in bird view.

Honestly, I think the Tac Cam is fine as is.  And I've played plenty of RTS games to be used to having a bird's eye view.  If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

  • Allow SP players to convert weapons, accessories, upgrades into materials like MP players. I can't understand why this option isn't there yet as you can already "destroy" those items. Converting into materials would save us a lot of trouble from purchasing some of them or having to look for them.

That would defeat the purpose of having to find said materials in the first place.  In DA MP, you can't sell the stuff you don't need and you can't go out and collect materials, so the only way you're able to get materials and open up inventory space is by salvaging equipment.  In story, you have to search for the materials, whether by harvesting them or buying them (I prefer the former because I'd rather save my money for weapons, armor, accessories, and schematics).  You have more freedom when it comes to gathering materials in story than you do in the MP.

Really, I don't see how making everything easier makes DA:I any better.  I like a challenge, not a super-easy game I can beat without even trying.  Making everything easier just makes DA:I seem a lot cheaper.

I'd like for the addition of an added difficulty that mixes up the factions like platinum in ME3 MP for DA MP.  I'd also like for a darkspawn faction (considering how the return of the Collectors as a faction turned out for ME3 MP, I wouldn't be surprised if a darkspawn faction surpassed the Red Templars in difficulty).  And a Deep Roads map.  Possibly a character like the Awakened Collector as a character in DA MP (possibly an Awakened Darkspawn).  Oh, and a Grey Warden character.   :D

Yeah, but think about the Fade-Touched Items you wasted, just converting those crafted items back into items would bring you those items back and nothing would be wasted. It's just an idea anyways.

  • More body types for each races, seriously. Chubby, skinnier, more muscular, taller, shorter, etc.
  • More hairstyles.
  • Customizable maps we could share with friends for SP or MP mode, sorta like Minecraft's Creative mode where you can create your own adventures, place the appropriate loots for people, etc. That would be one way to use the Eluvian or either the character could find a mysterious place that takes different shapes due to some mysterious powers.

How about a DLC showing the entire story from the viewpoint of Baron Plucky?

  • A way to override tactics as the controlled character in the ring menu or with a button on the PC, two commands in particular that would be good: "Aiming the same enemy" and another would be "defending the controlled character". Overriding tactics temporarily would help SP players having a more dynamic gameplay like the MP's "over here" (shield over yourself) or "focus on that enemy" (a cross over an enemy you want gone) commands. On consoles, for the SP mode, it could easily placed in the ring menu or the right d-pad button with the decided command. On PC, it could simply be placed in the task bar where you see all the skills, commands, potions, etc. This leads me to the next point...
  • More tweaks in the tactics system and maybe more options.

A lot of the stuff you're asking for would require the game mechanics to be rebuilt from the ground up.  The most that'll likely happen is that the combat mechanics (regarding tactics) will start to return to the DA:O and DA2 styling in DA4, but in a more refined way.  As for the rest, maybe they'll be implemented in DA4 as well.

Which is why it is an "idea" thread. Can be recycled for months and years.

Added this line on the first post: "Random ideas that pop up in my head. Things that could be used in Dragon Age Inquisition and/or future games. Will add stuff as I think about them."

Not to have open world game anymore. Takes too much resources from other stuff.

Focusing on what Bioware is best at, characters and story.

  • Tone down platforming puzzles and fetch quests like the Shards. Sometimes it can be very tricky to grab some of them and it is very frustrating when you forget how to jump "over there" on the following playthroughs. At least, if the tac cam comes back, make it so that we can select the "shards" or items our character needs to reach, killing two birds with one stone.

Just noticed on the radial menu that there is in fact an option for us to ask our squad mates to attack our target. The suggestion about "defending" the lead character still stands in my suggestions though.

The return of an in-depth customization system for companion AI, and the option to choose attribute points on level up in SP.

Pause menu -> Characters -> Tactics.  You can change the targeting priority on companions to defend certain characters, but, to me, it doesn't seem like it works all that well.  I miss the fully-customizable tactics from DA:O and DA2....

That's what I meant, though overriding commands for a few seconds is what I was talking about earlier.

  • More bard songs
  • More music while exploring
  • More artistic areas in the game(s) (museums), bard schools, etc.
  • Maybe some guilds or organizations that would act like your rival.

Fix the necromancer specialization, or make the drawbacks (of which there are countless) be compensated by awesome abilities (of which there are none).  Or make it able to be changed.  Tell me I didn't just waste 40 hours of gameplay to take a specialization that has one hand tied behind its back that all my companions are going to be annoyed with me for.  Seriously,  after finding out what the tree looks like as a PC and dealing with my LI giving me grief over specialization choice (REALLY, REALLY BAD IDEA -- didn't we have enough grief over Anders' overreaction in DA2, folks?), I'm fighting the urge to just flush the Inquisitor.  I hate the idea of wasting her, because I was having fun making realistic dialog choices (as opposed to metagamed) and different plot decisions.  If I knew that I'd have a useless specialty and have everyone mad at me for it, I would have made this a toon inquisitor.  They at least ought to have the idiot trainer warn you in much sterner tones that everyone was going to hate you and you wouldn't be able to do much with what you learned.  The way he talked, it almost sounded like as good idea as the others.  I guess I can go as far as mark of death or whatever on one side and then just concentrate on generalist abilities.  I'm still only 40 hours in.  I can even go back to just before Skyhold, since I have a named save, and only have to replay 30 hours or so.  (I'll just delete the long string of obscenities I just typed before the host does it for me.  They're there, and I hope Sera was paying attention.  She needs some new curses.)  Add to this the fact that there's no level scaling and the level of an area is set when the area is scouted at the wartable.  Materials to fill the trainers' requisitions are not equitably distributed.  To get deathroot, assassin elects need to go to the Approach, and foolish students of necromancy need to go to the Plains.  Bloodstone is only available in the Dales.  Either the Exalted Plains or Emprise du LIon must be scouted, and I usually go with the plains because at least that way the base critters in the Emprise will still be high enough level to get some experience for.

Put velcro on the shoes.

Take out the waterfall and shard sound files.  Completely.

It's generally a really great game and there are levels of complexity that most players don't bother with, though they're there if you look.  It's just disappointing to have to work so hard and put up with (admittedly minor and reversible) disapproval for a specialty, and then have it be one that is only useful for the passives.
