Good morning.

I was wondering if anyone knows how fade-touched procs interact with skill upgrades.

For instance, if I have the walking fortress upgrade, will the 5 second WF proc receive the benefit of that? The same goes for things like the chain lightning proc, shield bash, etc.

I haven't farmed enough fade-touched mats to do the research myself.

Thanks for your input!

I didn't think any of the enchantment type power casts received bonuses like that.

thanks for the response!

I'd be really interested in some nice MLG pro player would do some actual testing, though.

Maybe it's time to call in PengiunFetish XD

Hmmm, I had assumed they did. Why make a special case for enchantment buffs?

I guess the only way to know for sure is to try a respec-ing experiment. I wish there was a combat arena in Skyhold where you could set up an enemy with known characteristics and whack on them, or have them whack on you, to see how much damage is done in a standardized way.

When I finally get the material that gives you 10% chance of walking fortress I will test it out on my warrior champion and post the results here.

Although that only explains that one material. We'd have to test each one individually since who knows what might be bugged or not.

Plus, some of the bonuses are already at the level of the upgrades - the tier 3 hidden blades material already has five added hits on proc. so I doubt the upgrade and the tier 3 proc combines for 10. In fact, I can confirm that it is most definitely five hits, whether you have the upgrade or not.

If anyone does some personal testing on their end, please post it. Maybe we can get a comprehensive list in this thread.

...maybe I'm being way too much of a go-getter lol

Yes, I did a DW rogue / assassin and had the same experience.  The fade touched hidden blades will have their listed number of hits regardless of getting Overkill or not.

Moon Axe on w/ Horn of Valor is another one that could be tested, although watching the damage bonus might be tricky (I run it on Templar in MP that way).  Or Bow of Helpful Hazard drops Caltrops, and a rogue could test that with the duration upgrade.

I can understand making special case code for stacking that would obviously be OP, like Overkill + proc (on each dagger of a DW, wooweee!) But I imagine it would actually require extra code to make a 5 second WF proc not have Siege-Breaker, if that skill has been paid for. The proc is just a stamina-free activation of the skill, with a random activation rate instead of a cooldown.

Unless, triggering the skill while the proc is running would count as stacking?

That's my theory, anyway.

As far as chance on hit materials, they can proc on any attack or damage dealt by the player.

For example, I played a DW rogue that had two masterwork tier 3 daggers, one with hidden blades on hot and the other with chain lightning on hit.

I found that, as an assassin, the damage dealt by marked for death can proc hidden blades and chain lightning.

Additionally, neither, one, or both of the effects can be triggered at the same time. Also, the effect of one ability can proc another if it deals damage.

It is always awesome when I use twin fangs on a guy who instantly dies, then ,lightning strike his corpse and spreads to nearby enemies, and those enemies that get shocked are also affected by hidden blades.

I don't think the proc carries over the passive bonus, but I wouldn't go as far as saying I'm more than 80% positive. All I know is, when horn of valor procs, the horn of valor buff from the skill is replaced with the new (longer) one from the fade-touched material, and damage output *seems* to be slightly lower due to not having the passive.

The same thing happens when another warrior buffs my upgraded horn of valor with their base horn of valor - the buff is replaced, and the passive no longer applies.
