If I can choose to be a female, then I'll always be a female. But if the game looks interesting and I want to play it, it doesn't matter to me if it's just a male protagonist. But if there's a female, she better have big boobs!

I bet few people would want their character to be ugly or unattractive (both character genders).

Not really. If the game is fun and the story is good that's all that matters. If its a CC sometimes I'll play male others female. It really doesn't matter.

i don't like bewbs. but I like Ellen Ripley (in the first two movies when she was trembling ball of fear who in the end was able to do what needs to be done... in 3rd she became cliched badass, Shepard style).
yeah, i like playing as such female, it's a "go, girls!" moment for me. if she was a male... that wouldn't be so awesome, there's plenty of amazing male characters.
video game women? Lara Croft never resonated with me, even her new version. i had more fun with Alpha Protocol or Serious Sam than any of Tomb Raiders.

Gameplay is paramount over what my virtual avatar's sex is. That's how one of my fave games of the past year ended up being one that had an all female cast of cutesy cartoon furies.
And despite this appearence, Freedom Planet is a very manly and badass game. I got rekt about two dozen times on the final boss. >_<
