That is a greatsword from DAO, actually, ported over to DA2. It was called Ageless.

My point was that I don't see how anyone can act like greatswords looked so amazingly good in DAO while bashing that sword. And you just made my point even stronger, so thanks for that.

DAO by far. It was dark and gritty and really felt like the correct tone for the setting. They did say Fereldan was a back waterhole compared to other parts of the world and they NAILED it with the darkspawn design, only to  screw it up in DA2 onward, making them the putty patrol of DA.

I think the original poster said it best. DAI is like the disney version of DA and the awful hairstyles save for Morrigan, doesnt help things.

DAO >DAI >DA2. And that's simplifying it. I think each one did something better than the other. It's nearly a tie between DAO and DAI.

I felt like DAI was just too bright in some places. It feels...detached (and even then, I could also blame the lack of engaging sidequests/needing branching narratives in more zones. But that's a different topic). The way DAO looked really fit the dirty, downtrodden, sad story. It added to the atmosphere. Heck, I'm sure the music helped change the mood whereas DAI is almost always bright and silent.

It looks great, but the way I've envisioned DA up to this point wasn't what I saw. That's not to say parts of DAI didn't just blow me away.

I really enjoyed how much of an "artistic presence" the various races had in DAI. We saw a lot more than just scattered statues and paintings of people we didn't know. Solas's fresco could've been a throwback to art back during his time. Bold colors, kind of abstract. The Temple of Mythal with those mosaics were gorgeous wow. Then contrast that to the more realistic portrayal of human portraits in Ferelden in Orlais. I liked it. A lot. The dwarves were the only ones that had what I would really consider an "artistic presence" with their culture in the previous games.

DA2 easy.

It resembled the great artwork of their concept art guy. His stuff is amazing.

All it needed was more time.

I liked Inquisitions artstyle most, since I liked the way clothes and armor was differentiated for the nations which kinda started with DA 2. The bummer is that those armors aren't useable for the inquisitor.

Not at all. What is your problem with it, it looks like a perfectly functional sword compared to DAO greatswords.

That greatsword is everything but functional.

DA:I but on paper only, somehow it did not translated fully to 3D, in my opinion there were armors and scenes that looked amazing on the official book but kinda lackluster on the game.

Man, being one of this site's only big fans of 90s-era JRPGs always makes it really weird when people talk about how dated 2009 games look.

It's accelerating. Soon people in 2020 will be saying "God that game looks so 2019."

Tricky.

Origins did look quite generic, but with a few lore friendly mods in place you could give it a bit more character.

DA2 had by far the better narrative and companions. But visually? Well, it looked like a game which had been cut back to its bare bones due to a rushed realease. Aside from the Companions and a few key NPCs everything looked very generic.

Which is a shame becuse from a UI style it is probably my favourite of the series. The loading screens, and Varric's storytelling.

While I like the overal presentation style of Inquisition my main complaint remains the lack of armour types and individuality of look.

DAI wins this for me. Not even close.

The world is beautiful and the characters look more real, more flawed.

I liked DAOs concept art the best though.

DAI has the best artwork in my opinion. DAO is next, and DA2 I found the most bland, except for Fenris. He was very different from your usual Elf, but his outfit looked deadly to touch and sort of BDSM.

LOL! No it gave me a "look but don't touch or you will regret it" vibe. Even Sephy had a more welcoming outfit in FF7.

That's because he was an antagonist lol :P

Lol funny how I still ended up romancing Fenris despite how uncomfortable he made me at first. Anders romance was just too... fluffy for me I guess. Hawke was so girly in it, but with Fenris she was more herself, but that's just me.

Also I I used to think Varric was neat looking in DA2, but since DAI's graphics, it's hard to see him in DA2 now. I'm too used to his features in DAI. Cass too. Who is one of my fav designs.

Dragon Age Origins has the best artstyle of any Dragon Age game. 2 is too cartoony and Inquisition is too Disney.

I would definitely say that DA: I is the best for me as well.

DA2 is easily last.  It was really drab and just 'meh' for me, and I tend to enjoy darker atmospheres but DA2 just came off as dingy and unremarkable.

Inquitistion, I don't like the Origins outfits at all, and DA2's weapons and armor leave a lot to be desired as well
