For some reason when playing mass effect the texture resolution is terrible.  This is most noticable on character models(everything looks pixelated).  There doesn't seem to be an option to increase the texture quality in the configure screen in or out of the game.  I also check images of the game online and they look much better than what i have on my computer.

Computer:
Windows 7
Intel Q6600 quad core 2.4ghz
Ati Radeon HD 4850
2gb ram

Yeah I get the same thing while playing in 1920x1080 for some textures. Looks like they optimized up to 720p resolution.

does this affect facial textures too on your machine? I guess the body textures are just not that good in this game

so you mean if you go above 720p textures get worse?

The facial textures seem to be ok. I just now that something is wrong with the body textures because everything is blurry(cerberus symbol looks like its made out of 20 pixels, jack body looks like a mess and can't make out any of the tatoos) I have looked at online images and those images look much better than what is being displayed on my computer

have you tried messing with your ATI grahpics cards settings in catalyst center

I could but I'm not having any problems with other games. Although I guess it can't hurt to try.

actually that helped. Thanks for the idea. I just turned off some of the things that said use application settings then turned everything up high so I'm not entirely sure which setting helped.

After some tinkering I found that it is the minimap detail level that makes the difference so if anyone else is having this problem just change that in the ATI catalyst control.

Hmm, for me the textures are higher than my system could handle in me1 and my fps is a constant 60.

In me1 i would get 60 on medium textures but would drop down to 30 at random intervals and could never work out why.

Q6600 2.4GHz, 8800GTX also stock speeds, 4gb ram, Vista x64.
