I definently want to play as a warrior what race would be best? For my specialization I'm most likely going to pick Templar!

Like I said, I play for more RP. If you want to play a Templar, human makes the most logical sense, as Templars are a human order.

And templar armor is restricted to humans.

I decided to rewrite the list a little:

  • Warrior
    1. Human
    2. Qunari
    3. Dwarf
    4. Elf
  • Rogue
    1. Elf
    2. Dwarf
    3. Human
    4. Qunari
  • Mage
    1. Human
    2. Elf
    3. Qunari

Okay, so after looking at this thread... I already have a Qunari Rogue. He's a level 5, and meant to be an assassin. But should I delete him and have a Qun Necromancer mage?

I could make my St. Nick character a Necromancer and have the Qunari be a KE...

I like my Human Templar, 2H Sword

Wrath of Heaven + upgrade 700% weapon damage, Spell purge + upgrade 600% , i use a 2H Sword for the higher Impact, i hit around 8k (T2 crafted 2H Sword)

i use a 2h Sword, just for more dmg,

As Don Re said, Two handed templar gets more damage, but they can make good tanks with the "there is no darkness" perk that increases Damage resistance (or whatever it is called) by ten percent. Combine this with the inquisition perk for the same thing, that makes some decent protection.

Weapon and shield Templar are probably the best of both worlds, but pretty much. Weapon and shield tree is designed as a more tanky tree and two handed as more DPS-based.

Honestly, there is not a "best" in the traditional sense. I tried an elf rogue and an elf mage, and while the elf mage is hard to explain, if given enough thought, it can work. The best for this game is mostly a pseudonym for favorite really.

I'd vote Qunari for mage/rogue/dps warr because you get additional weapon damage from the headgear. Champion dwarf is probably the best tank tho. Human is pretty nice pre skyhold tho.

Honestly there is very little difference. I'd pick what you like.

Elf mages. The "true" mages of Thedas before the ancient idiots went and taught humans the art. (Guess it didn't work in their favor)

i'd say an elf Knight Enchanter, which is this games version of a battle mage.

The Knight Enchanter has eleven roots, which would make an elf mage a perfect fit for the class. Not only that, but out of all the races, the Elves have the most unique dialogue and Lore in the game. The entire main plot centers itself around Eleven Gods, Eleven magic, and the fade. If you choose an Eleven mage, your keeper, after a vision of hers involving the conclave, sends you, her brightest pupil and successor, to investigate, because something big, that is going to affect all humanity, is going to happen there....but she doesn't know what.

It just fits.

Not a lot of love for dwarves. Never played one myself, being a bit of a magiphile. Not sure if it is because of the lack of RP attraction due to the limited RP involvement/opportunities or because the race bonus is anemic.

If dwarves had 80% magic resistance out of the box, or some kind of super-specialization on top of Warrior/Templar (obviously, should be called the Legion of the Dead variant) and Rogue/Assassin (Carta Operative), we'd probably see more interest.

Dwarf champion is a great character to play as. I find 2H champion very very fun to play and also makes a good spec for a qunari inquisitor - from merc to champion of the inquisiton.

Anything but human.
