Disappointing, I thought this was done IRL.

Click-bait much?
At least is wasn't real. Donged that bullet.
This dude obviously works for Kotaku. And IGN. Click bait game too strong
It's a novel way to deal with cheaters.
But I can just imagine it now if the wrong type of person gets banned.
"Virtual rape" "forced me to strip naked"
Wrong type = Female avatar.
As long as the avatar is male Tumblr shall remain placated.
Serves him right.
I read about this a few days ago.
Found it funny and the mods can get rid of hackers however they like IMO.
I think in Guild Wars 1 had something similar. They would have NPCs running around shaming a cheater a eventually a giant assassin will come and kill him/her.
It's just a PR stunt to say "Hey look, we're banning people".
I thought the goal of PR stunts was to make yourself look good in the eyes of the public? I mean NCSoft has always been pretty ban happy in the past so unless this is a PR stunt to say "Hey Look, we're banning people who actually deserve it this time" I am not sure NCSoft deserves a pat on the back for doing something they are already all too happy to do, we need to remember Guild Wars 2 isn't a sub per month game, once you buy your copy unless you are spending large amounts in the in-game store for useless junk and exploits NCSoft doesn't really care if you can't access their game.
With all the bans they handed out when the game was first released and for the pettiest of reasons I am not going to take NCSoft's word that they banned this guy for good reason.
The in-game part wasn't all that interesting; people in GW2 are always behaving in a goofy manner, including running around in underwear and leaping to their deaths (there's also a game bug that sometimes spawns you in the sky over your destination so you fall to your death upon arriving).
Regardless, glad to see this guy get his.
All this has me wondering, how is Guild Wars 2 nowadays? I haven't played it almost a year perhaps.
You now get a daily reward for logging into your account on any character; a ploy to get people logging in more often I suppose.
The "story" continues to be updated every few months and a new career is being made available soon if not already (it was announced on Twitch one weekend I can't recall). The rest of the game is pretty much the same as a year ago. I stopped playing last holiday season because I'd lost all interest.

Story in Guild Wars 2 was a bit all over the place. Such shame, since I enjoyed the first one with it's awful voice acting and hilarious directing. But at least it's focused, ties in together and actually has some changing effect like Ascalon being nuked.

They don't deserve a pat on the back even if the hacker did deserve it, because banning hackers is something that you should just do.
but people like actually seeing companies doing something about what they think of a problem so in that regard, this is a PR stunt.
These cheaters deserve worse tbh, maybe an IP ban or a System Vandalization fee. Maybe even both!
