Calling me, Eternal Phoenix, Lotion, Recon and my other allies more annoying than SJWs was your biggest mistake!

Actually this Mad Max movie is, in my opinion, a pile of crap.

Yes I actually went to watch it but only because my friend brought the tickets so I did not have to spend money for it.

See, genres such as science fiction, be it apocalyptic science fiction or space opera science fiction, has always been about understanding the world, expanding on the lore and creating a pocket virtual universe that people can enter at will, experience and leave, presumably entertained.

The new Mad Max movie does none of this. The movie was simply a story about "girl power" with lots and lots of pointless action scenes combined with strong censorship. The movies does not expand on the lore or allow us to understand humanity's place in a post apocalyptic world. The movie isn't even very realistic or believable.

Why ?

In many post apocalyptic situations, what we see is that biology and survival instincts take over. The simple reality is that men on aggregate are biologically superior to women. This is why there are so few female frontline soldiers and female firefighters. There have been many instances of Survivor style reality TV show battle of the sexes and the females there screwed up big time until men come to help them out. There is a very good reason why there was a division of labor between the sexes in a survivalist environment.

Secondly, the movie was content to sideline its main character whose name graces the title, Mad Max, in favor of a nobody all for the sake of girl power. Does that even make any sense ? Can you imagine watching something or reading something where the main protagonist is sidelined for the sake of pushing a particular political agenda and enjoying it ? Can you imagine playing Deus Ex where Adam Jensen is sidelined for most of the game to make way for Faridah Malik for the sake of girl power? Can you imagine playing The Witcher games where Geralt of Rivia is sidelined for most of the three games to make way for Triss Merigold for the sake of girl power ? Can you imagine playing 2013 Tomb Raider where Lara Croft is sidelined for most of the game to make way for someone like Mathias because of guy power ?

Thirdly, the pointless long action scenes. They are meaningless and don't do much. They are a lot like Micheal Bay's Transformers action scenes. I mean, I was not a fan of Mad Max and had never heard Mad Max at all until I heard of this movie. So when I saw the movie, I did not have any emotional investment in the franchise. Personally, all the action scenes reminded me of Micheal Bay pointless over the top action. There was no real meaning to them. It was simply fluff to entertain the simpletons that is the masses.

Fourthly, the censorship. The reviews for this movie were all good. All of them. Even The Dark Knight had its critics. Its as if no one was allowed to criticize the movie and indeed when criticism against this new Mad Max was there, they were dismissed or shamed as MRAs or pencil dick or what have you. Isn't it ironic that they have a movie about strong female characters but then practice censorship against anyone who dares to criticize ? That is the fundamental irony of feminism. They want empowerment but they cannot take criticism without losing their ****.

So all in all, the new Mad Max is a Transformers grade action film. If you have a strong emotional investment in the franchise, go and watch it. Otherwise, there is no good reason to spend your hard earned cash on it.

Cheers.

I would love to play as Faridah Malik. She's a fan favorite. A game starring Fly Girl would sell very well.

Charlize Theron gets me chubby. I can watch her all day.

Woah, somebody missed the point of Mad Max BIG time.

IIRC, he had thirteen lines in Road Warrior, and two of them were the same ("I'm only here for the gasoline") Now, I can't say much, since I haven't gotten the chance to see it yet, but from your review, it doesn't sound like you understood the movie at all.

ok Max has always been the Guy shoved into a role. he is only a Cog in a story the only one where he is the Main character is 1 even then id say the car is the star.

Max is about surviveing the events of the movie. He isnt the Vault dweller or the Currior. he is the guy with his headdown trying to get by when the weird stuff happenes.

look as 2 the guy everyone remembers? Humungus or the Coppter guy.

3 its either Tina or MasterBlaster.

Max isnt a hero or even an antihero he is a guy who just wants to get the hell out of Dodge but he cant deny his better nature.

Apparently Theron's character is getting her own movie. Based on what people are saying it sounds like they used Mad Max in the title card solely because they didn't think they could launch a franchise with Theron alone.

.... Even though George Miller has said there's another Mad Max script being written, and Tom Hardy is contracted to be in 4 more movies as Max.

Interesting. I'd be interested, Furiosa was cool. I read that Hardy signed on to do 3 more Max movies though.

I wouldn't mind them crossing paths again.

Oh, it's a franchise type deal? I wasn't aware. This was entirely my opinion; should have been clearer.

Through the contract doesn't mean as much as people think. An Avengers 2 character had a multi-movie deal but it doesn't look like that character will be back soon.

When you think about it - "Furiosa" and "Road Fury" - make a lot more sense in terms of the protagonist of the movie's identity.

The movie looks and sounds great. Surprisingly though despite the rave reviews it is being beating by Pitch Perfect 2 seems audience would rather see that than this movie this weekend, I hope it is profitable as that is the only the franchise will continue.

I'm the last person who would call themselves a feminist, but even I think i's a bit stupid when someone cries about "uh oh, girl power" just by virtue of a woman sharing he top billing, especially when one says that it actually ruined the film for them. That just strikes me as sad and pathetic.

This. All of this. I also LOL'd at one of the posters here, we all know who.

God forbid a movie doesn't have your usual "boy power fantasy" and has some girl action.

So far the only ones who made a fuss about the movie were the stupid MRA's (the male version of radfems) who cried about "omg a woman kick ass noooo this movie is a pile of crap". Not the "radfems"

Besides, you can be a normal feminist and not act like everything is man power.

If you're talking about Quicksilver:

Spoiler

Also, Fury Road is not a reboot of the series, nor is it a sequel, as per George Miller, though it is supposedly "loosely connected" to the older films.

meh, the CGI kind of took a hit in the second one. Although, still felt like it had a more solid story then the 3rd one. Still always going to favor the 1st though.

First one was too generic for me. 2 at least upped it with Jean-Claude Van Damne and giving Willis and Arnie more screentime.
