As I asked originally; why does S&M need to be added? What would it give value to? Why would it be necessary?

"Well, sure, my people are starving, dying from foot rot, I spent the entire treasury on magic beans, gave our military secrets to the enemy and equipped my army poorly with antique muskets, but the collapse of our way of life is clearly because I was getting laid ten times a day with a bunch of different men and women?"

If Bull was a sub instead of a dom, my only concern would be that I'd never get around to anyone else. As it is, I'm glad I didn't try to romance him with a female character. (There is absolutely nothing wrong with big, manly guys topping women, it's just the precise opposite of what I find hot. If I'd gone into it unspoiled, it would have lead to one of those awkward '...wait, you want to top?' conversations.)

I think I'd rather have a future LI who might be interest in BDSM (wish OP would change to topic title) and have the option to discuss it briefly in the romance. That way, people who are squeamish could ignore the dialogue and the option altogether
