This thread went to some interesting places. I will say this on the topic of kink: people are reading too much into people's outward personalities to try and guess what they're into in the bedroom. Cassandra's brash, combative exterior is a good illustration: she apparently likes to read the equivalent of "50 Shades of Grey Warden". Not saying that makes her a switch, or a sub, just that people aren't so consistent in everything.
Enforcing something isn't BDSM. At the very base of it, BDSM is ALWAYS consensual. Therefore, telling your mate "you'll do this whether you like it or not and whether you've agreed that I will be telling you what to do" is a long ways away from BDSM. I let it slip before, cause nobody made much point of it, but you did, and it kinda sticks out now. IB's behaviour, if that's how it is, is not BDSM, he's just being a f@cking @sshole. And having people think that this attitude is what a Dominant is like is seriously counter-productive to both BDSM and vanilla relationships. Boundaries always need to be set, regardless the "scene". Boundaries means mutual respect.

It may not be your idea of a "good" or "ethical" or "consensual" BDSM relationship, but it is certainly a BDSM relationship. BDSM relationships should always be consensual (I am sure we would all agree!), but aren't always fully consensual in reality.
Mutual respect should be the key.
I would like to make one more point with respect to this comment. I have no objection to there being rape in an RPG. After all, we already have murder as standard, so rape isn't really much more objectionable. But, there needs to always be a correct depiction of consequences. So if a character is raped by another, there should always be a story option where the rapist is condemned for their actions.

I can't really dispute this. Because there is a difference between "should/must" and "is". I tend to speak from the "moral" standpoint of the shoulds usually.
