It didn't help that the big bad was utterly pathetic - everything he does in the game fails, even the times when he did some damage to his opponents (at the Conclave and In Your Heart Shall Burn) he still completely failed to achieve his objectives - meaning that killing him never felt like any form of accomplishment. If anything, I felt sorry for the poor guy when I put him out of his misery.

Had the finale been as it is in terms of gameplay, but was a last desperate attampt to stop him after all you had done earlier had failed, it could've been interesting. But instead, you succeed at everything you do during the game, and it's Cory's last desperate gamble. I don't know why you bother going and stopping him, it's obvious he's going to fail given everything else that's happened over the course of the game.

By sheer dumb luck and a bold strategy which the Inquisition only survived through Sheer dumb luck.

All is a bit of a stretch.

If side content includes characters then they're out of their damn minds, that stuff was great. I also liked the random side content as well - the Venatori, red lyrium, chateau d'onterre, knight's tomb, old crestwood, recruiting agents, judgments, etc. were all great additions to the game.

Anyways I can get behind this thread, there's a lot of charm to the Dragon Age series that makes it stand out imo.

Knight's Tomb, that is the one I was trying to remember.

*sigh* And there we go again. Criticising. Bickering.

Why can´t we keep this out of this thread?

That´s what the feedback section is for.

As long as there's no name calling and as long as they STAY on thread, I'm fine. We're not forced to like everything in the franchise, but the thread is about the writers and how the Dragon Age universe wouldn't really exist without them to begin with. While most of us are thankful for their works, they get a lot of bad rap for any little choices that don't please some of the most picky people that followed them for years. I'm just asking those people to be aware that this thread is not to cause even more drama. There are lot of people who want to show their affection and love for the writers and feel like the toxicity of some of the other members will always intrude in their threads. Just be careful, stay on thread and if you got any debates to do please do so in the Feedbacks section or through private messages. Otherwise, I give full authorization to the moderators to shut down this thread, clean the messages that shouldn't be there and re-open it.

More sheer dumb luck, or divine bad luck. Plus Corypheus does managed to suborn one of the two factions (mages or templars), he's got the Chantry running in circles more focused on a new Divine than actually doing anything which is a major pillar, he's weakened the Wardens. The truth is, with the Conclave explosion he pretty much ended the world, because the center couldn't hold at that point.

If you talk to Cullen when at the Shrine of Dumat, he comments about the difference between Samson's new world and the Inquisitor's, saying he prefers The Inquisitor's. It's really less about "beating" Corypheus and more about trying to rebuild while he's only interested in destroying.

Which circles back around to the wondrous writing. I've been following things since BG, and while there have been a couple downs, nothing has ever made me give up on Bioware. The majority of the reason is in the writing. I put the team in pretty high company: Joss Wheadon and Joe Straczynski.

Also a quick bit of congrats to David. I'm going to miss your talent here, but I also look forward to seeing what comes next, and I hope it's a fulfilling ride. And a shout out to Brianne Battye. I admit I did a little girl impression when I saw Cullen in DA2, and now getting to know him better has been a real treat. Plus all's well that ends with cute former templars :).

So yes, before I start to repeat myself. Thank you guys for the ride. Look forward to more.

Can we be best friends, Ariella? I completely agree with everything here, up to and including the Cullen-induced squeals of joy. :)

High praise indeed.  B5 is amazing.

And you summed up my feelings time and time again on Corypheus.  Sure I would have preffered it if he won after Haven, there were still plenty of close calls and Corypheus's planning and plans were excellent his execution was a little lacking and the quality of his allies (looking at you Floriane)

I miss B5. I'm probably going to end up doing a marathon over the summer at some point to introduce my eldest to it.

I think part of the problem of post Haven was the fact you wake up to a camp that seems so well prepared. I've been playing around with an "extended cut" fan fic of what happens when the breach is closed. Admittedly it's an excuse to write romance for Cullen and a mage, but adding things like having someone there to kill the Herald should she be possessed etc... And going into the escape I just cannot figure out a way to explain how they got BRONTOs and all the supplies. I suppose they may have had somethings stored in the Chantry considering it was the largest and far and away most durable building in Haven, but the amount of stuff? If that had been cut in half, I think Corypheus' assault would have felt like more of a "win" because the Inquisition would have looked more desperate than just us being "told" it by the argument in camp.

It's a small thing however, at least to me.

I will have my own fan fic after all too probably...I want to, with my idea of an ending.

Mike Laidlaw isn't wrong that Corypheus should have punched you one more time after Haven. He's also right that stuff like that's easier to see in retrospect.

At this point I'm relatively sure we're getting at least one post-ending DLC centered around Solas. If two, all the better.

With two more (long) missions, the main story will feel long enough, I think.

My one regret though will be the way the Orlais Civil War plot was handled. The mission itself is fine, but they have all these zones in Orlais and very little development of Briala, Gaspard, or Celene. Much of the information they give that allows you to make an informed decision about who should rule is stuffed into Wicked Hearts when, I think, the Inquisitor should already have a damn good idea who they like better based on side content in places like the Exalted Plains or Emerald Graves.

Not to mention the climax of the game is chasing an Eluvian, which Briala has a whole network of.

With all that being said, I very much appreciated the game's strong thematic look at organized religion and faith, and I think the cast is the deepest of the series. And we'll always have the post-Haven sequence to remember.

DS9 had Zorro and the Alcalde as a romantic interest and a Klingon General respectively. Plus we got to see Nurse Ratchet get her just desserts. DS9 FTW!

Darrah mentioned that they'd tie up some of the loose threads concerning the post-credits scene, and Aaryn Flynn, in response to someone asking about darkspawn and Deep Roads DLC, responded with "funny you should ask!"

That Kotaku Q&A was damn juicy.

Obviously this is just guesswork on my part, but I'd be very surprised if Inquisition only gets 2 story DLCs.

I think two would be over kill...

Oh, I didn't mean two about Solas, but rather 2 explicitly post-ending. With the hint about darkspawn/Deep Roads DLC and the Weisshaupt epilogue, I think a Grey Warden DLC about the impending split could be possible.
