My summarized opinions of DAI's writing

Blackwall, Cole, Solas, Iron Bull very well done. Solas especially, as he actually learns over time and changes his viewpoints.

Varric: Average, didn't really add anything new to his character in this installment, but did nothing bad either

Dorian: Good until you started pushing your LGBT agenda with his personal mission. That was really unnecessary, seriously Bioware, up until that point I didn't even care about your "subtle" attempts to push him as that way as I got to know him, but then you go full out and actually make it a significant plot point.

Vivienne: Enjoyed her, You were going to challenge the typical liberal minded "Free the mages" thinking and "muh freedom" with a more pragmatic, realistic person. Unlike most characters, it was extremely hard to basically mindlessly agree with her and stack up reputation circlejerk points, which allowed for a more elusive character that challenged the way you approached her.

Sera: bland, but not an especially boring or bad character

Cassandra: Super boring with super predictable character and "character development" tree.

Overall plot: Overall the story had a poor direction and the ending was very unsatisfactory

The only problem I had with the dance was the same I had with any of the "timed" bits. It drove me nuts keeping an eye on the counter. Though the fashionably late bit was hilarious!

Just a reminder: if you find very rude post, report 'em, ignore the user and let the mods deal with those people.

I suppose its a testement to the writers that next week my copy of DA I on the PS4 is set to arrive between the 19-22 of May.  You know...instead of some other game that comes out around that time.  :P

I personally just don't really have any interest in that other game, but rather, wish I was inexplicably getting DA4 next week. :P

I have some interest in it, but am very cautious about it too.  And when I am cautious I don't tend to spend money unless I am reasonably sure I will like something.  So I might get the game eventually if I ever suck all my enjoyment out of Inquisition, and ME 4 is not out yet.  Honestly when it comes to the Witcher I wonder if I shouldn't just read the books.

Last Wish is so much better than what CD Project Red has come out with thus far. The anthology is a rather clever and closer to the source material retelling of a number of fairy tales, plus Geralt doesn't come across as an oversexed thug.

Thus another reason I'm grateful to the DA writing team. They know that Mature doesn't have to mean gratuitous sex and over use of perjoritives.

Huh.  Interesting considering I was thinking in Witcher 2...towards the end...they were moving away from that.

I never could get through Witcher 2, partially because of that. I got so tired of it. Plus the combat mechanics annoyed the crap out of me.

I watched a couple promo videos for W3, and when the narrator started gassing on about spontanious acts of racial violence as a selling point, I shut it down.

That and sex on a unicorn.... Just wrong.

Yeah that did seem odd.  But hey, at least someone makes the same observation about the two that I did.  That DA knows how to mature.

Im not saying its a bad thing im only saying that is the reason of why DAI doesnt feel like a dragon age game.

And there may be elements that reminds us about something but a whole presentation

I find this funny considering that DAO and DA 2 are radically different thematically as games get. The only real connecting tissue is the setting itself, so I have to wonder what you mean by a "Dragon Age game"?

As for what you said about it being like swtor, that's ironic since I've seen in other places people accusing swtor of being a single player game.

Not a selling point, rather an indication that despite the sense of wonder there's also a lot of abhorrence that contrast the story.

Also, that sex on the unicorn is a reference to the books. Yen and Geralt used a stuffed unicorn as a bed, and it broke in half.

I guess this forum really needs these, what with all the stupid people. Especially in the Feedback and Suggestions section. Ew.

Books or not, nudity and profanity used in the promotional vids seem to indicate selling points. And I shall also pass; still hoping that future games may be more self-controlled.

I don't see it as a selling point, albeit that sex can obviously be used as one. The Witcher franchise has always portrayed an incredibly harsh universe where Geralt often comes to conclusion that despite the creatures he's hired to kill, humanity is capable to exceed in cruelty and monstrosity.

The promotional video illustrates what the Witcher universe is about, CD Projekt doesn't really deviate too far from the source material, so if these themes offend you then it's obviously never going to work for you.

Exactly. I would have loved to play in such a beautiful Open World, but I prefer games where the clothing remains on the characters, and the profanity is left in the locker-rooms. And the lack of Pause only aggravates the prospect. Will wait on SkyWind.

However, and I totally get from a practicality point, etc and so forth, I would have loved to have the option to wear a dress.  Because I love dresses and dressing up.  Again, as an option, not a requirement. But it really didn't take away from the enjoyment of the game, and I accept that when climbing trellises, pants are definitely preferable to skirts. :)

I agree. We really wanted to give the Inquisitor an option to pick their outfit for the ball (and in Skyhold), but sadly the technical issues involved put it on the chopping block.

Yeah -- there's going to be some crossover between DA fans and Witcher fans (like me -- I'm certainly looking forward to Witcher 3, though admittedly I've never liked their combat mechanics much) but there will also be some who like one or the other and just aren't interested. It's a strange kind of one-upmanship that occurs among some fans who believe that there is only one proper way to appreciate RPG's or to be an RPG, and that these games can't co-exist just fine. Me, I wish CDProjekt all the success in the world -- looks like they've worked hard on the game.

Can only speak for myself, but also am wishing the best for CP and CDP. Hope the game goes well!

However, as one that dislikes this type of objectionable material, I prefer it to remain optional, or easily skipped. In DAI, I bench Iron Bull and Blackwall; in ME3, I can bench James Vega. In most Bioware games, the sexual aspect is related to the Romances; easily bypassed if one has objections. As a Player, I am able to somewhat control the gaming environs.

In TW3, profanity is used commonly enough that it appears in the promo, as does nudity and sexual matters. This is not why I play RPG's; not even why I like to mod them. And as beautiful as the world may appear, I wish to avoid it being served with such garnishment.

As far as controls, there does not seem to be a Pause feature, which makes gameplay more problematic for myself. So between gameplay that may require frequent reloads, and environs that are purposely offensive, it is better for me to pass on the series again.

Nice to know I wasn't alone on this, and it was a minor "oh well" moment in the game. My three playthroughs to date are evidence that it hasn't inhibited the fun I've been having. ;) Thank you for the reply and explanation, David. I really appreciate it.

I don't know why I hate the Ball outfit on my female Quizzy so much - it just feels so wrong. But thanks for clearing this up. You have no idea how helpful it is for a rabid DA  fan like me to understand why certain choices were made. I can now officially stop my whining and complaining :P (about that)

Now how about those hairstyles.... (ducking and running.....
