Only if they are playng COD. Many males like good and longer hairsyles if they can choose. Expecially in a fantasy enviromant like DAI. (at least I think, since I'm female. But I love making male characters with longer hair-I may be strange. I love my ladyes with short hair, and my dudes with long hair  :P )

Thing is, the ahir we got are still quite depressing, expecially if we think to the styles presented to present the races. I would kill for the male elf style and the human female one  :crying: (actually, I like all of them)

4218958-1375816395.jpgI prefer  the bada!@#$%&( John Shepard shaved haircut to be honest.

Well it was the concept stage of development, and things always have a chance of getting cut during that development stage

It's likely that Bioware wanted to do that but couldn't implement them

That's possible of course, but they didn't point out that those styles were not available after all. I just find it odd that they would have rendered them still thinking they could pull them off, then.. not. I understand that the one that hangs down your chest (middle-right) would be very hard to implement and probably look too awkward, glued to your chest and all. But you'd think they would have also thought that, and not released that concept. As for the others, they all look as doable as the ones we got, so I'm just confused as to why they might have had trouble implementing them.

When they rendered them they thought it was doable at the time, the whole point of showing concept is showing what they would like to do or atleast similar to it

But they always have a chance of being changed or cut due to issues

Again, I'm not saying any of that is false, I'm just thoroughly confused about the issues. 5/6 or those hairs don't seem like they couldn't be implemented (and you'd think even if they had issues they'd try a little harder since they were already partly done), and the other seems like they would have already realized it wasn't doable. That's all.

I wouldn't call a receding hairline a girly cut.

I don't really know what you are on about.

What was shocking to me was how fast hairstyle fashion had changed in Ferelden. Just ten years ago during the Blight most people had shoulder-length, often braided hair, now all of a sudden even the women are wearing undercut styles that would probably require trained hairstylists in every village.

Trained hairstylists and free mirrors and shavers for all.

I am sure they meant well, but actually the styles actually offend me. Just my sensibilities I know
I would love to know if they plan to provide any hair dlcs even the styles of Cassandra, Blackwell, Morrigan etc. I would gladly purchase. I dont care about clipping issues. it would help if we just knew one way or another.

How? Women don't get receding hairlines, 99% of the time. How could those styles be considered "girly"?

The styles offend me too, and I'm not joking either. They promoted gender-neutral hair but delivered anything but. And this has nothing to do with a style being perceived as masculine or feminine. The styles could look like anything, but if you have 3/4 of them have sideburns and/or male-pattern-baldness, that's far from neutral.

Like I said, it's not even relevant if you like the styles. It's insulting that you can't use most of the styles unless you want your character to not make any sense biologically speaking (barring exceptions of course) as well as looking... let's just say not so pretty. How would people like it, I wonder, if wearing certain amours arbitrarily added breasts to your male characters? Would you feel insulted then? Probably, and for good reason. They're both hormone-caused sexually dimorphic differences, so why not?

I try not to get too angry about things on these forums, but this particular issue really gets under my skin and I need to vent.

With more choise, the problem would not be there. Who would have cared for sideburns, balding and multiple shaved styles if there were many different styles to choose from? No one! But the styles are already few and (let's face it) not that great too.

But what are these hairstyles? The buzzcuts? Because buzzcuts don't count.

I would like to see some curly long female hair in the game since there literally is none availabe right now. I don't really like any of the female haircuts, except for the knott a little bit.

So a bit more variation, would definely be appreciated!

I think she is referring to the one that looks like varrics's hairstyle, the braid worn by Harding, and the shave on one side. And I agree with her. I might not have been so bothered by the buz-cuts, if the first 2 hairstyles i mentioned had a better hairline, or some morrigan-like bangs. As it is, all my quizzies share the same 2 hairstyles (the shoulder-length, "free flowing" ones)

Edit: These are the only 2 hairstyles I use:

Short "cute" styles for females are fine with me. Most of the styles are just plain ugly. LOL

Fugly hair is fugly.

Everything is either shaved/bald/mullet.

I'm not a fashionista, and even I can tell when things are bad.  Girls don't have male-pattern hairlines.  Wouldn't be so bad if the hats/helmets were attractive, so I could cover-up the nonsense, but helmets/hats are fugly too.  All of my characters sport the Marine style to avoid the horror.

Ehhh hair for a customizable PC is really difficult to do well - I mean, as far as actual movement and realism goes. I understand why we don't have a whole slew of L'Oreal hairstyles.

But I'd love to see some dreads or braids or something.

There's already massive amounts of clipping with armor and even the elf/dwarf/qunari inquisitors clipping with their own bodies. We don't need moving hair and it's not like it'd be the first thing clipping in the game. There's no excuse for the ugly, limited amount of hair we have when they could have easily ported the styles from DA:O/DA2 if they were too lazy to make new meshes.

The Black Emporium didn't have any so I doubt we'll be getting new meshes that aren't mods.

Be my guest.

And there is the other style, the one half shaved with the braid. And Harding Hairstyle have stange very hight hairline. Luckily not the balding sides, but is still strange having such hight forehead on a female character.

This is pretty much why I posted this because I was sure the black emporium might add a little something in there. But nope.

Gotta disagree here. It would continue to be a problem. Let's give an example. The longest style, the flowing one? It's one of the most normal-looking, most popular styles. And It has sideburns! And it's even the default female hair! Of course, like I said many times, the entire problem of sideburns for both genders would be solved if you could add/remove them in the facial hair section. Having them be arbitrarily pasted on certain styles is stupid.

But what are these hairstyles? The buzzcuts? Because buzzcuts don't count.

Why don't buzz-cutts count? They're available to females. For the rest, see Cathy's post, she sums it up for me.

This is pretty much why I posted this because I was sure the black emporium might add a little something in there. But nope.

I really hoped it would too. It was the perfect time, being advertised as a cosmetic DLC and adding the mirror. I made quite a long post about the BE, in fact. #ShamelessSelfPromotion

Exactly! I especially don't understand why the Harding hair has one. It's obviously supposed to look feminine but it has a male hairline, which is stupid, because not all males have receding hairlines, and if it didn't have one it could still be used on either gender in a neutral fashion. Instead, for some reason, they decide to have it only make sense on males. I don't understand. They did the same thing with the first style shown above, the flowing hair. It has sideburns! Why?

Yeah, those 2 styles are the only ones I use too. I used the longer one in my first playthrough, and was pretty... let's be polite and say "annoyed" at the sideburns so switched to the second one for my second playthrough. Now I have no idea what to do for any other playthroughs. Great.

It's a shame the "no sideburns" doesn't work with the new patch.

And that consoles are stuck with them :( Seriously, modders keep making these fixes that Bioware is apparently either unwilling or incapable of doing in much longer time-frames. It saddens me almost as much as the fact that they didn't see this as an issue before launch, when everyone did after. Reminds me of the Skyhold outfit. They really need to have more/better testers.

It makes me wonder how did the creation process went ....like...no one raised their hand about such glaring and easy to fix issues ( with story, at least they have the excuse of subjective opinion and interpretation)-.-

Yeah, sometimes I wonder if the Bioware team lives in a completely different world. People have been complaining about these things (and especially the Skyhold outfit) since before launch! So I don't understand how the vast majority sees something wrong with something immediately, yet the team can't. And that doesn't even cover things that are purely objectively silly, like sideburns.

Indeed. I can't agree more that the silence is inexcusable. Like I said above, people have been complaining about the Skyhold outfit for the better part of a year and they're still silent. Not to mention hairs, etc. Stuff like the male elf arms and female human body posture should have been priorities for patches. Instead they remove amulets of power for no apparent reason.

I probably sound like a bucket of vitriol and I'm sorry, but their decision making is so questionable at times, combined with their silence about the most voiced issues really gets under my skin. If they said:

- Yes, we are working on this.

- No, we have no plans to work on this.

- We will try to work on this, but can't guarantee anything and will update you.

Bam! People know what's going on, and what to expect. Just one of those sentences!  Okay... cooling off time :P

We want talk about the Qunari? I think is the only time I have wanted the buzzcuts. The hair on female Qunari are so horrible that many have decided to not even give a chance to the race because they are horrified by the hair. Large corncrows at bad resolution too distant one from the other, a baby mohawke that give the idea the poor gal have only that patch of hair, and a granny sad bun with a bald patch in the middle

And, of course, all of those are attached to the horns, so finding a good middle ground between a less hated hairstyle and the horns one like is usually a very frustrating compromise. I love the curved horns with the simple metal cover, but it came with the sad mohawke. I redefined my Qunari to use a middle ground in the end. Decorated horns and corncrows. But I'm really not happy of having to do such compromise to look at my character.  those are not the horns I wanted, and those hair are only less horrible than the others.

At least some answers on why precisely those hairstyls made it to game would at least give us a way to understand.

Because with this silence, we only see disinterest on BioWare part to our request.
