I was googling around...and I found some braided styles that could be used as example of what BioWare could have taken inspiration to make non-clipping, feminine hairstlyles that can give the idea of long hair. Basically these styles aren't much different in shape that the bun and the only braided style in the CC. Maybe the longer one is, but nothing is against making it shorter. (still the ponytail in the CC is not much shorter.

-snip-

I would have preferred something more short, like this myself:

short, wild braids.

-snip-

Yes! Gimmie! I would have loved some short pretty braids like that! The only braid option we have in the game is too much for my tastes and has a weird hair line that just looks awful on any ladies I've seen it on or try to make with it. Please please please let there be pleasant braid styles in the next game on in a DLC for this one.

I can't believe that not only are there still not plans for additional hairstyles, but that Bioware still hasn't officially addressed the issue in any capacity whatsoever :/

Yep. The total silence is very annoyng and depressing. I felt like the devs completely forgot about their own forums. Is not like hair aren't something that have been asked from before the game was out or what... at least spend a tweet or two to answer to why we have so many balding and shaved styles would at least be something. :(

Problem is, it doesn't just look bad on the ladies. They took a style that they obviously meant to be a conventional "feminine" one, then... gave it a receding hairline to make it so males could use it? I can't believe I need to explain that not all men have receding hairlines, and I don't know any who want them. So why bother? The end result is just that it looks bad on males and females instead of possibly looking good on females.

I will forever be flabbergasted and vexed at Bioware's logic when it comes to hair.

To me seem like BioWare decided to ruin even the already few female hairstyles (because let's face it: is quite rare that, balding or not balding, female players decide to go for the shaved styles.). Is quite depressing how they go for unisex with those that should be the female hair (I think the non balding are the feminine ones?) but left all the manly characteristcs for the others.

That's another huge problem, the one I talked to Laidlaw about. The hairs we have aren't unisex or gender-neutral. You can't have male-only characteristics on most of the hairs and call them either of those things. This creates a fundamental inequality between the options for males and females, and very unfortunately, one they apparently did not consider. What? Ugh. Sorry, I'm just pretty annoyed that the team didn't consider this, when they had to make a conscious effort to add sideburns and receding hairlines. Apparently they need more women on the team, which is a good idea anyway when you're creating a CC for males and females.

Rant:

Another thing I can't wrap my head around is the fact that (in real life) men don't need to have sideburns (which should have been in the facial hair section) or baldness, whereas females can't have them at all. So why then, if you're making options available to everyone, would you not simply remove those characteristics that are - at best - not required for males, instead of making them non-optional for males who don't want them, and females who shouldn't be able to have them at all? It's just a very simple thing, and it irks me very much that I not only had to bring this to their attention (where are your people who supposedly read the forums? You can bet this has been mentioned on Reddit too) and that when I did, I had to actively fight for this position before Laidlaw finally conceded that maybe, just maybe women not wanting to arbitrarily have sideburns was a valid complaint.

His original argument to me was that women simply didn't have to use those styles. So basically, their plan was to not only give females a lot of options they expected them to overlook, but also to create that fundamental imbalance of options for males and females and call that okay? Great. It's clear he didn't think about this at all and fumbled for a counter-argument rather than consider that I was right to begin with and just ended up embarrassing himself. And instead of fixing this, patching in a way to remove those sideburns if nothing else, they're content to do nothing. We don't matter, we're just people who buy your game. Obviously, putting just a little effort into fixing probably the most agreed upon problem with this game would do nothing for you as a company... No good-will generated, no possible money made... no, nothing

What I don't understand this nonsense female and male hairstyles. Bioware just pro equality and don't understand male and female can have same looking hair. It looks like Bioware made all characters but forget to make and put hair in the game. Ok I stop because I start ranting about how horrible hair in DA:I is.

My point all hair for both sexes.

If they add more hairstyles, I'm going to borrow Harry Potter's broom and fly my mage to the Black Emporium at once. I chose a short bob that I'm largely okay with, but yes, I'd like some new hairstyles one of these days.

A lot could be said about the current hair situation, really.  I, myself, have a major problem with the way the current hairstyles skin to the inquisitor's head.  Many of the choices they give you look like helmets and leave a gap of air between the hairline and the forehead.  Altering the brow and forehead dimensions can sometimes fix the problem, but one has to seriously compromise the overall look and shape of the face to do so.  The side-tresses of some of the up-do's stick out as if to accommodate the arms of eye glasses, and only add to the helmet look.  And that skinned under-scalp with the sideburns is just awful!  Why does that even exist?  Is that supposed to be your REAL hair underneath the hair helmet you're issued?  It looks especially atrocious when you pair fair skin with dark hair, and is extremely limiting.

One thing I really miss--and I think this was mentioned in an earlier post--are separate sliders for eye brow and facial hair colour.  Many real people have brow and facial hair that differ in colour from the hair on their scalp, so why not our inquisitors, too?  But I digress.

More care definitely could have been put into the CC's selection of hairstyles.  With that in mind, maybe they should work out the pre-existing cosmetic issues before implementing new looks.  God for bid, they introduce more hairstyles only to disappoint.

I guess I'm not allowed to have problems with anything because I'm not currently dying. This argument never held any water. If the world went by this standard, we would not bother trying to make things better while people somewhere were underprivileged. Is them dying horrible? Yes, quite. But why should we not try to fix other problems just because there are bigger ones out there?
