Because James is an awesome character and a great addition to the series and Diana Allers can be completely skipped after which she will die on a dreadnought.
James and Diana Allers - WHY do they EXIST?

I get Allers, use her up to Rannoch to get all her assets, then kick her off after Thessia.
Two birds one stone.

Allers is just a reminder how development started getting rushed.
Wong and Al-Jilani were supposed to have bigger roles. It's just another sign of how they scrambled with uninspired ideas to replace cut content.
Most of the things people complain about are all tied to the same thing. Kai Leng, Thane, Allers, Javik DLC.... it's all part of the same cut.

That one cut side-mission involving the two wasn't really "inspired" either, though. Did we really need more "Cerberus is evil" and to pull Terra Firma into it? We've also already got a "videotape stuff" quest in ME3.
It's bigger than a side mission. It was tied into the Coup later on... and you got to go to Kahje (or maybe it was just some Reaper base with Hanar.. not sure now). Having Thane involved also kind of continues the themes touched on in his loyalty mission, with Jorim Talid. For whatever reason, they've given Thane a place in the overall themes about alien/human relations and the Council. It's subtle, but it was there in his loyalty mission. And it's there again in the Citadel Coup. But it was even more fleshed out in the original cut....with many more players involved (including Wong and Al-jilani).
The Terra Firma stuff at least ties up loose ends about the group. They're kind of the opposite of Jorim Talid, for ME1. Except Joram's story can end... and theirs just hangs in limbo.
All you're doing is basically saying you like Kasumi's little "vignette" mission about this. When it's clearly inferior. She and Thane both were supposed to help you in this (or Kolyat, if Thane was dead).
Secondly, it would have set up the VS and Kai Leng's roles better in how their conflict would later play out.. I call it inspired because so many elements are connected to each other.

I admit I didn't like James at first. Mainly because I thought he was a poor stand in for Wrex or Grunt, but the big lug grew on me over time.
As for Allers I can't take her seriously, especially after that certain 'Gamer Poop' vid.

Alleys seems a joke character to add pr by using a games journo. Bad acting, poor characterisation. Such a waste when there were 2 existing great characters Wong and Al jihadists who could have functioned in a more meaningful war correspondent role.

There isn't any connective tissue between that side-mission and the Kahje/Coup content, though.
There are a lot of other issues with that reworked arc, especially how it further empowers Kai Leng and Cerberus, but that's not really the point of this thread.

It is the point for me. Like I said, Allers is a reminder. I blame her for everything! ![]()
j/k The sad thing is, I like Chobot.. and she's a fan, like any of us. She didn't do anything wrong. It just that what we got of Kasumi/Thane/Wong/etc all reeks of "Plan B".

James might be one of the worst companions in the series but to compare him to an npc is wrong. Diana is the bane of Mass Effect. I will never understand Bioware's thinking in including her into the game.

I really didn't like James at first but after some time he kinda grows on you. Give him a shot, he's not as bad as he seems at first.

I'd take James over roughly half of ME2's Dirty Dozen.
I'd insult you, but you have a David Lynch avatar. So I'm torn.

That picture would look better with Zaeed in it
Zaeed and... Kasumi. But yeah..
Those characters are like the best at what they do. Master Assassin, Pure Krogan, most power human biotic, Master Thief, most feared bounty hunter. Vega is just a noob. And written for noobs. And his Collector story sounds worse than Default Failshep.

What is the area of expertise of Jacob? And Legion?

Legion is like a mini-Geth Consensus. It's not really the "best", but the most intelligent mobile platform of the Geth.
Jacob isn't the best... he's there to be the normal guy. He's alright though. You gotta have some crew like this. To me, him and Vega are a tossup.

And what does that achieve on this team of all around bada**es? Garrus is a better (or at least equal) shot, Tali is a better (or at least equal) hacker.
There are three ME2 squadmates whom I'd gladly replace with Vega. Won't name them though, it'll go way off-topic fast ![]()

I don't blame her either. She is a media personality, not an actress. The blame for Allers lies entirely with Bioware and whomever decided it was a good idea to use someone who isn't an actor to voice a character. It also didn't help that Allers was a shallow character. There wasn't much to work with no matter who voiced her.

I don't think she's a better Hacker, except from a player perspective with their powers.. He's the one who can take control of multiple turrets, and she's only now dabbling with geth technology, sending stuff to her dad and such.
Legion has a better gun than Garrus ![]()

Yeah, geth turrets, on a mission he mentions himself
Both hack the Collector door with same success ![]()
I still give both Incisors ![]()
