Kind of over kill there BW - I never got 4 gems in any of first 3 playthroughs, but I've gotten over a dozen already in this playthrough

You won't get them if you don't have an open requisition for them, though. I wonder if this means that Fereldan Locks are fixed, too.

I got the Fereldan locks fairly fast.
Now, I'm out of Velvetten, so stuck with the Gems req quest - for the 3rd time!

You can buy velveteen in Val Royeaux once you've passed a certain milestone in the game.

You can also buy Velveteen from the Black Emporium. I think it's tier 1(?) so it should be available right from the start.

Congrats. I have never seen an item called "decorative gems" in my inventory, in over 300 hours on the clock (which includes paused time, but still . . .), comprising 2 playthroughs. For a while, I was saving diamonds and the like in my inventory, thinking they might be these fabled "decorative gems".

I'm guessing that as long as you don't kill all the mages in the Witchwood cave, mages will keep spawning and dropping the gems

Hah, Ferelden locks. My Inquisitor has never seen such a thing. The Inquisition's opted instead to simply tossing prisoners into really deep pits.

Yeah, I get where they should be. I just have never gotten any. *Pulls out soapbox* Nothing required to complete a quest should ever be completely random, particularly if the odds of it dropping are very low. It gets quite tedious, and the possibility of a complete shutout is finite. (I.e., it can happen.) *Puts away soapbox* Fortunately, requisitions are of little importance.

you can buy it but it is a hek of a lot cheap from Val Royeaux compared to BE, it the same with most mechants that sell materials.
Still has the issue that you cant complete a lot of the requisitions after clearing the maps. Be nice if we got some banit / merc filler mobs in areas we clear just to keep them a bit lively.

I know but you can buy it a lot sooner from the BE. So if someone were so inclined to finish the requisition immediately and only needed velveteen, they would probably go to the BE. Plus, I was just telling him that it's an option.

Now they need to fix the Orlesian History quest in the Exalted Plains it won't complete for me!! I did the quest 3 times going back and forth to that one place where the Freemen of the Dales respawn to get tomes and writings and it goes back to not being completed.

Just a shot in the dark here, but what happens if you fulfill the Orlesian History at Skyhold instead of in the exalted plains? There's a requisition table in the building behind Cassandra and I'm wondering if completing it in there keeps the respawn from occurring?

The Orlesian History requisition completes, but it just instantly respawns.

I tried that and several other requisition tables. I just hate having an open quest in my journal. The OCD voices in my head would like me to start the game from before the Exalted Plains and avoid that quest.

All those re-spawning mages/sellsword seem to have pushed my experiance up FAST: I'm a level 8 in the Hinterlands, with only 2 Perks - so I'm fighting more in "non-influence" type fights. Still have Vandamer (sp?) and 2 Rifts to do in the Hinterlands
