Thoughts on the Venatori Commander's recent buffs (Calpernia)

I'm curious what everyone else thinks.

 

Did she get over-buffed?

 

If so in what ways?

 

Is the barrier is too strong now?

 

Does she deal too much damage?

 

My initial thoughts were, wow she got quite a buff but meh whatever, she deserves to kick a little butt,.. however,

 

After a few recent matches I've noticed a couple of things that could cause some problems for certain classes.

 

I know this is suppose to be a multiplayer game, but some people like to solo and sometimes your entire party is in the fade and you are the only person left.

 

Having said that, I think her barrier is a little too strong now.

 

I just recently played a match solo and cleared the entire wave of room 5, with just her left standing. I was on the Katari.

 

Her damage is now on par with the other commanders, and trying to widdle her down was just insane. Her barrier is really hard for certain classes to break through, lego, Katari, and I'm sure there are others.

 

Just my thoughts. I think she is very easily beaten in a team set up, but one-on-one she may be the hardest commander to beat now.

I think her barrier is fine, that was a well deserved buff. I think the damage buffs were a bit much, though.

She needs more buffs... Too long has she been beaten down by every agent of the Inquisition.

She's still pretty easy if you ask me, just take a little longer to take down that barrier.

Pretty much yea , She still seems to easy.

 

Fortunately for soloer's there is something you can do! play the single player! :P  I mean if the devs balanced the multiplayer on soloing  , multiplayer would be kind of pointless .

its not the barrier so much as the constant teleporting when your the last man standing, that and the insane amount of damage she can take a full hp lego from full barrier to activating the spinning shield a sliver from death in one move whilst he still hasn't caught up to her last teleport ....

 

yes I was on routine and yes I have almost zero promotions, but at level 20 with what I consider to be ok gear (given I don't spend that long playing each week) yet getting killed by the one commander I was actually able to solo on the lego makes me just hate playing his weak ass even more than I already did

 

 

conversely I found her a lot easier to kill with a rouge than before, shame we cant pick factions to fight against as that would defo be more fun oriented, I would avoid the venatori more now than I did the cheap archers before ....

I think it was a much needed change. She's still the easiest of the 3 in a team setting. However I am a little miffed because it makes it really hard to kill her solo on my Alchemist poison farming build because she isn't sleep-able like RTC.

Maybe she could cast Barrier fewer times? Or maybe taking Dispel got more awesome. It would be nice if it did more Barrier damage than it does, though...

 

Anyway, I'm sure Biower is monitoring our wipe rate against her versus other bosses and will calibrate as needed.

 

On the subject, Red Templar Commander is nigh untankable, given the frequency that he uses his stunlock melee attacks. I find myself getting in 1-2 hits between his specials.

IMO, the only thing that seems to me overbuffed is her version of energy barrage. I suspect there is something glitching there as all her other damage buffs are reasonable. Her barrier is OK but her cool downs for casting barrier and her fade step can be slightly increased. Her current version is already somewhat tankier than Samson but does not have his bs stunlock abilities. That is why she might seem easier to people. She looks like an ideal boss to me as she has less bs but still tanky and dangerous although quite beatable.

I think one of the biggest problems with Samson is a bit like the problem the Primes stunlock or the Banshee insta kill in ME were. His attacks get 10000 time more dangerous when you're subjected to a bit of lag. You thought you moved outside his earthshaking strike? Nope. You thought you moved out of range for his crushing leap? Nah... At least, that's what my experience of him has been, he seems to be less dangerous (to me) when I am hosting.

 

And I think Calpernia has been made more difficult in a fair way. No way around it, she was hands down the easiest boss of all, no challenge at all. She still is the easiest one, but I think she's good now.

Go to sleep.

If you don't have an active ability or ability combo, since you're a warrior:

Shock weapon + Crippling Blows + critical chance

Use dispel. On keeper. Or AW. Or templar. Or virtuoso. Or just run away and kill everything else and save her for last, because the archers are still much more deadly. Four people whacking on her will make her barrier go away in no time.

Nah, she needed that buff. The shields a pain now, but, honestly, it should have been a pain from the get go. Hey, at least there's a reason to use those barrier damage weapons now, right?

The buff is fine, and it encourages more mages to use dispel.

Also it makes playing templar even more fun :)

Feels to me like another generic buff like with archers. They didn't make her better, just tougher.

She seems to do inconsistent damage.  Does her energy barrage maybe increase our fire vuln?  All i know is she 1 shotted me over 1200 health shortly after a barrage.
