Say goodbye to Doctor Who and Sherklock, Whovians and Sherklockians!

SMyPvr9.jpg

Shreklock after the BBC cuts. Eternal Phoenix will be hired to animate cartoon episodes of the series. BBC bosses are confident that the quality of the show won't change.

Admittedly the BBC does suffer from not being as unbiased as it should be. Though the Tories are probably just going to make them swing to the other extreme. They better not **** with Sherlock, Doctor who or Atlantis.

Any changes the conservatives make would be to the news, not to the programming. And probably not even that. You might be better served asking "What is the point of this story and to whom is it aimed?"

The answers are the Tory media flacks and the BBC news people.

There shouldn't be people in prison for inability or unwillingness to pay for the TV license, and there are right now - including elderly people who never had any other convictions. We can have Doctor Who without that, so that needs to change

Everybody knows their political thing is happening blatantly, but I guess urban media types have their proclivities so perhaps it isn't a conspiracy or anything. Problem is that the two things (compulsory, criminally punished fee as a public service + very heavy-handed political bias) are not really compatible with each other.

UK's media has always been heavily politicised and highly partisan. It was only a matter of time before such politicisation infects the BBC as well.

As for their programming, it depends on the size of the licence fee cut. If it's a severe cut, I wouldn't be surprised if they adopt more commercialisation and some aspects of private TV, such as longer seasons with "padding" and more liberal cuts to cram in commercials.

Atlantis got axed ages ago by the BBC to make way for "fresh entertainment programs" such as Dickson's Real Deal and The Gay British Backoff.

Sherklock and Doctor Who will probably join but don't worry, at least Sherklock will be getting an animated series continuing from the current and animated by BSN's very own Eternal Phoenix!

"The controller of BBC One says they have ambitious plans for new drama in Merlin's Saturday night slot for 2013."

And what did we get? Nothing.

I can understand the Tories and fully support them in their move to punish the BBC not just for their pro-left views but their crap entertainment (barring Poldark of course because Poldark is ****** awesome and I love period drama - Downton Abbey and Mr.Selfridge being my favs but they are ITV productions which just goes to show how far BBC has to catch up with a channel that doesn't even have a license fee. GG BBC or go home).

P.S

I just realized Dickson's Real Deals is a ITV programme but it's so boring that it feels like it belongs on the BBC.

Slightly but far more intelligent than any liberal party. Also they're less religious (if you can consider them religious at all, I don't) and don't oppose climate change.

As I understand, conservatives in the US are quite religious and stand for family values.

What is the U.S. liberal party called then? Labor?

Come on over to BBC America. We'll take care of you. Or Canada. Or Australia.

Granted, I don't know how the Doctor will fare as an American.

The Democratic Party (for the most part).

Politically speaking, our Democratic Party is similar to the Tories, except we're a bit more on the left side. The Tories are more middle-right (from what I understand), while Labour is farther left than we are. As far as liberalism goes, we're a lot less accepting of it in the States.

Meanwhile, the GOP is what UKIP is for Brits.

But that isn't who makes it.

Sherlock and Doctor Who are both made by BBC Wales.

BBC America is the independent American affiliate of the BBC. Despite the name, they're actually not technically related beyond licensing.

Ok. So basically, all they do is talk like all parties and sit on there hands and feet while doing nothing.

Not at all. As I said, the GOP is, politically speaking, more in line with UKIP than the Tories. Imagine if UKIP were in charge of Parliament. That's sort of what we have in Congress, sans of course Obama being a Democrat. We have a little thing called checks and balances. Not saying the British don't, but ours is relatively more substantial, or its meant to be. However, when said Checks and balances are ineffective due to pervasiveness of a political ideology, that typically means that culturally, we're kinda screwed up. Not that we're there, but a lot of Conservatives would take us back to the Salem witch trials if they could here.
