Like most new games coming out, I have little to no hope of this game being any decent. I REALLY hope I'm wrong...

The only way to play a Ubisoft game is on console. You don't really have to deal with Uplay on one.
Indeed. Playing on console has cut the amount of problems I've had with Uplay on PC considerably.
Given the concept art above, I kind of hope we can have a hand to hand finisher of a German suplex.

We know it 'may' be the same universe as previous Abstergo CEO Olivier Garneau went to a shareholder's meeting in Chicago appearing in Watch Dogs
He did?
I must have missed that.
Actually he never made it to that meeting as he was intercepted, then went missing.

I only played the 1st AC game, and my 360 is shot so I can't play the others. I may get this, but not if it's too deep into the main story

The 1st funny enough can be skipped. It really gets good with AC2, then Brotherhood, then Revelations. AC3 is sort of whatever(this is when the main story ended and it all starts to get muddled after this), AC4 is pretty good, I can't comment on Rogue, and Unity was mediocre.
Meaning, you can absolutely grab Syndicate. The main story is in this weird sort of limbo where nobody knows what the hell is going on so you'd be just as lost as everyone else.

Do we have to play any of the previous games to undrstand this?
I only beat the first AC game, and with all the other sequels, prequels, midquels, and junk on other platforms....I can''t just jump into the franchise.

Probably not and this one won't work either.
But people will still pay them $60 to be their beta testers. Better for us though. We can just sit back and laugh at all the rage. Going to N4G on release date will be very entertaining. I LOVE AC release days and the weeks after. Watchdogs was a hell of a time as well.
AC3 was the last game I will ever buy that says "Ubisoft" on it.

Interesting. I'll be keeping an eye out in the coming months for this.
I'm curious to see the locations, gameplay

All the mainline console games so that's 1, 2, brotherhood, revelations, (worst game) 3 (mediocre) 4, Rogue, Unity (Not played yet but it's apparently awful) and then the new one. Also Liberation and that PsP game if you desperately need to know some points.Do we have to play any of the previous games to undrstand this?

A question for those who played AC 1 and have a better memory, was Palmyra in the game?

I'd say Unity was the Dragon Age 2 of the AC series. If it didn't suffer from numerous graphical bugs (fixed now) it would probably be seen as being extremely underwhelming.

I'm still not sold on the premise, heck, I've lost interest on that front after they forgot about Desmond and the First Civilization and all that. Still, the Victorian steampunk-esque setting is appealing and there's also Evie with her... superpower?

I've always considered Assassin's Creed to be a bargain bin series. They're those games you get at Walmart during one of those lazy summer nights and you have nothing else to play and nothing else is catching your eye and you don't want to spend more than $20.
I'm so divided about this game.
On one hand, we have another Assassin's Creed game (and the gameplay has gotten so dry, just watching it makes me bored) and I don't trust Ubisoft anymore.
On the other hand, they're finally doing an era I'm interested in.
May end up getting it.... in like three years

Yeah, that's the issue. I was also interested in the French Revolution period but wisely decided to wait. ![]()

Played the demo for 20 mins on their 'Tour' felt good.
I have decent hopes for this one - market expectations couldn't be any lower after Unity anyway...

Nope, I mean turn up at a Ubisoft location and they let you have a go on the game itself for 20 mins. (in London about 6/7 weeks ago)
In the game there were 'animus walls', at a discrete distance from the demo objective, so my first instinct to head for St Paul's cathedral was thwarted !, but hijacking a horse & carriage was fun, careering down by the Bank of England was fun, climbing buildings was good,
and the combat gave more options than the usual 'hit, hit, hit, block;, etc.
They did some green-screen photos and you could get a tattoo and a shave (didn't bother with the last 2)...

maybe this link still works... Tour

I was impressed with the Evie gameplay. This being Ubisoft I've a hard time believing the final product will be like what I saw. It's kinda funny to see the blatant ripoffs of Arkham and Dishonored though I do feel it'll make for a better game.

If it works it's an homage,
if it doesn't it's a rip-off
