I love BSN. its like a book of mental disorders brought to life. That said we as gamers really need to get off our collective high horse skip to ego if tldr

1.______ insults our intelligence

A. This statement makes it sound as if bioware (or any company really) is trying to trick us into believing something that is false, except they aren't their expecting you to except it, because they believe your a human with an imagination and an ability to understand that its fiction, we as a society think children cant tell the difference between real life and video games, i never understood this, until i read BSN. a child knows that lions don't talk and accepts it as part of the movie. Yet we bicker over space magic in a fictional game because it couldn't happen in real life (you know because fiction).

2. the money hungry suits don't care about the game they only want more money!

A. the Money hungry suits are doing their job in fact the reason they have their job is likely because they are good at making money. their job is to consistently bring in the most money possible, and gauge success off that. if you work at any business even a nonprofit your job is to help increase the bottom line in some way if you don't do that then your useless as an employee. If you want to blame someone blame the consumer listen corporations are a single minded entity they want more money. Thus whatever makes the most money gets the most support. I personally hate free to play games, thus i never spent a dime on any microtransaction ever. I Only buy games i plan on playing immediately i only purchase things i know i will enjoy. If you complain about microtransactions and play candy crush you have only supported the thing you hate the most. dont like it dont buy it.

Point being if games with no dlc and no microtransactions sold 2-3 times more then those who did then we wouldent have microtransactions.

3. all the sheeple are ruining____________

A we are all sheeple what sheeple actually means is that Sheep A doesn't care about the same Cause Sheep B is fighting against. We as humanity follow the group in most things what makes us individuals is the 1% of actions that we don't follow the group in the reason a game (for instance watch dogs) still sells millions after a huge supposed downgrade is not because "sheeple" its because most people either a. don't know or b. dont care and the small subset that does will feel offended and nothing happens.

We are all sheeple when it comes to everything but things we care about

4.____________is a logical fallacy

The dumbest internet argument of all time normally used by teenagers and college students who didn't finish that class. A logical fallacy does not exist to prove something wrong or right just weather or not something is logical. The thing here is because logic can only support a Fact, An opinion of any kind is sure to include fallacies because opinions are based in preference. Trying to support an opinionated argument with pure logic is almost impossible (in fact as someone who has had too for my education, i challenge you to try to logically get through any argument without weeks of preparation for a small 5 page essay)

Ego: It all comes back to ego, We sit in our chairs and laugh at the stupidity of the internet because we think our opinion matters to anyone but ourselves yet we sit typing out our rage at the internet masses because we think we are smarter then them, We know what they don't, we can see the plot holes the contrivances and they cant because if they could see what we see they would all agree with us.just like this thread in the most ironic way possible My opinion doesn't matter just like yours :)

if you want conversation you should post if you want to matter starta lobby

To me after all these years: 3/10

To others....idk...6/10 (throw in the word "Butthurt" it will get a bigger rise out of people, also use the phrase "You just didn't get it" or "you weren't paying attention" more, you might get more responses)

Hopefully you can take this knowledge and try again - maybe under a different username - a lot of trolls like to do that (lol when David became Bobvid)

@ Dream....10/10!

The perfect gif in the perfect thread! Kudos

Actually not troll or is it bait but if someone disagrees with me i am open to changing my opinion. but that's all it is an opinion meant to start conversation, There are no insults or vulgarities and is not meant to be taken personally. (unless you complain about microtransactions and play candy crush in which yeah you can take insult) or is the fact that posting on the internet affects the world and the path it follows about as much as the ant that died this morning effects our emotional state. It seems to me that a lot of people (not necessarily you) on bsn truly believe that they are on an individual level important to bioware and that there thoughts and beliefs should dictate the path there on.

heres an artical i found that has an interesting take skip to 1 http://www.cracked.c...tter-person_p2/

i laugh at that fact you can tell people they are not special and be called a troll what a world we live in

*Snip*

Regardless of the intention, once you said "we need to get over ourselves," you immediately lost everyone's attention. That's not a very good way to frame an argument.

Look, the political atmosphere surrounding gamers has been more than heated recently, and we have little need to turn the flames up further. "Gamers," don't need to change a thing about themselves, because gamer is such a nebulous term that you're basically telling everyone how to change. We contain multitudes. Yes, that means we have more than our fair share of bad apples (just like every other group), but that doesn't give anyone the right to condemn us as a whole.

If you wish to talk about space magic, do so.

If you wish to talk about microtransactions, do so.

If you wish to dispute erroneous logical fallacies, do so.

But do not condemn an entire group of people. Are there arrogant jerks on the BSN who become a bit too hostile with their convictions? Do we have those who are a tad too quick to pontificate? Obviously, just like any other sector of the internet. Calling everyone the problem isn't going to solve anything. Trust me, better men than us have tried and failed miserably. You can't have an intervention for a collective. Those who've done no wrong are insulted and those who have won't care. Just stick to the argument and keep people out of it.

I don't like to call anyone a troll, especially those who have some kernels of a good discussion lying within their arguments. I agree that microtransactions are a reality maintained by the consumers (though there's a bit more complexity and money grubbing happening between), and I agree that space magic is acceptable within Mass Effect to a certain extent. Although I'd argue that Mass Effect's space magic sometimes breaks its own internal consistency, but I can't say that now because that's apparently not your central argument. I would love to argue about all the little bits of minutia in Mass Effect, but I can't do that in a thread that's about how awful gamers are.

In fact, I'd love to discuss the current emotional and political culture surrounding the gaming world and the exact definition and examples of a logical fallacy, but I'd like to do it in a General Discussion forum, not the Mass Effect Forum.

Trotting out the 'gamer entitlement' rubbish is always one of the worst arguments itself. Make the slightest complaint or suggestion? ENTITLED GAMER SCUM!

Honestly, gamers nowadays do seem to have a pretty high sense of entitlement when it comes to certain things.  But also look at the state of certain elements of the gaming industry, such as day one DLC and pay-to-win models.

I miss the days of Shepdog or 7th Island Head...

Hell I even miss the silliness of the great Troll-Trinity: David, Wulfe, and Seival
