Can anyone quickly link me to the best post, or run down which path is inevitably better?
I know the F/R system in II is a little more, grey, since all characters consider Hawke a good friend, or respect them no matter which path you go down
But which one leads to a more, "lovable" Isabella?
Or do they both pretty much lead to the same thing, just with different dialogue?
I've done the full friendship romance with her before, but was rushing to a save point so i kept pressing the X button over and over
fun fact: the button broke soon after
Ramifications of both friendship/rivalry with Isabella?

I may be wrong but I think if you are on the rivalry path with Isabela she will not come back during the whole Quinari mess. So Friendship is way better.

She'll come back so long as it's past the 50% mark on either path.

Friendship results in Hawke getting along better with Isabela for more of the story. Rivalry ends with her being a better person, or at least more proactively heroic.

I prefer friendship path with my canon (sarcastic) Hawke. I don't usually romance her on friendship past the "just for fun" tumble, but the dynamic just suits that Hawke really well. I do like the rival (romance) with diplomatic Hawke, though, and find that story a little bit more interesting if you are going to do full romance with her. But either way, I think she comes around on her own by the end anyway, when she tells Hawke she'll be there for him/her in the final battle. You can tell she really considers Hawke a true friend and wants to come through for them no matter what.

Rivalry gets you a much better dialogue sequence when she finally falls for you IMHO.
There is no F/Hawke F/ Isabella romance on youtube last time I checked, but the M/F is there. Back to back, you get more angst on rivalry, and if your into gloating, you can take your Hawke that way.
I saw the tube dialogue choices for the Hanged Man on both, you can push it much further than what's there. The writers wrote some really good stuff, drag out the convo and enjoy it;)
