Actually now after my post im swarming in daggers but nothing else lol.

can anyone confirm or deny that its related to what class you are playing the most? maybe my "luck" is just odd that way, looking for a pattern when its rng as always:P.

I think it's just the "p" in pRNG at work here.  I get many duplicates too.  3 consecutive daggers and then 2 consecutive staffs.  At least each one gets me higher base damage.. so I guess it's something.

There is also a possiblity their RNG system is glitched (like with everything else).  So maybe some RNG variable gets cached in memory and makes you get the same weapon every time.

Personally, I'm going to restart the game every time I get a new dragon weapon.. just to do whatever I can to make sure my pRNG state is "clean".

I got a purple last night after a perilous dragon fight.  Stinking rune.

Well then its just luck, people seem to think its around a 10% dropchance. Which seems accurate to me tbh. based on my experience.

Don't know if it's luck or mere rng trolling again, but the last few perilous runs have netted the same rare purple which was staff dragon again....fml I should post a picture.

I should post a picture of how many staff of dragons I have in my inventory compared to 0 one handers and two handers, I'm wondering if anyone has the same phenomena as I do. Anyone else have numerous duplicates of high lvl purple drops in perilous?

I have got 7 Dragon Bows. I could have got more by now, but I have barely played against Dragons since Saturday.

PUGing  (with console scrubs)

While XP and promotions would be nice: i'd rather get a single Dragon weapon first, and going less than 20 (and the downtime if promoting) means it's kinda dangerous, and a potential waste of my limited game time.

Promotions are guaranteed, loot is not. Due to this, I have always prioritized Xp over Gold, promotions over anything else. My time to play is also limited, I work 40-44 hours a week. Yet I have managed to get over 400 promotions so far. So I can't understand why people play as level 20.

I've killed many dragons on threatening and got just Blue junk dragon weapons, a lot of runes, sometimes just materials, some times gray items (even after they said that should be fixed). I've only managed to get a handful of Perilous dragon kills (because anytime I host as Zither my PS3 has a stroke) and have yet to get anything even slightly interesting. I think on perilous so far Ive only received a couple big stacks of metal. Very disheartening.

Killing Dragons on Threatening? You need 25 Materials to get to fight a Dragon each run, I doubt the loot you can get out of it is worth. There is no chance of purple drops on Threatening at all as far as I am aware. Better to do Perilous only, or save the materials for when you have a good team to do Perilous. Eventually you will get the good stuff that way.

I'd use the same core idea, but turned about.  Promotions are guaranteed, so are not time-critical - you can promote at anytime in the future for the same benefits.

Dragon weapons however may have time sensitivity.

Firstly Bioware may change the drop rates (and may have already done so since launch, confirmed once on the PS4, and maybe indirectly with adding materials into the loot tables), so earning them earlier with improved rates is more efficient.

Secondly at the moment people are taking their share of gong-keys, while in two weeks PUGs may have earnt what they want, and be less inclined to spend mats on keys.

Lastly the threads about "dragons too easy" may mean an adjustment to balance difficulty, so again, getting in as many runs now would seem better than later.

So my core argument is to do Dragon weapon runs as frequently as possible right now.

Up to now i have always promoted at 20, but given above:  taking time (any time) to promote and level is not good;  any character less than 16 has a chance of being kicked;  PUG teams are always risky at the best of time, so failing in zone 4/5 is both a waste of time and a key.  Playing characters at 20 is optimal in ensuring both success chance and time efficiency with respect to earning weapons.

Yes "losing" experience is not a good thing agreed, but i'd rather do time-sensitive tasks now for longer term efficiency.

This is obviously all in the context of PUGing, as a dedicated team willing to share level 1 carries, and i'd totally agree with people's other way.

In other news:  two dragon runs last night, two rewards of materials...

I got the purple shield after my first perilous dragon. Does not look that good - sticking to Emperor and Estwatch.

There is a very VERY small chance of getting a purple in threatening.  It was in the twitch stream.

Player on our team got the purple staff on threatening a few days ago.  However, I would NOT recommend playing threatening consistently in the hope of obtaining purple Dragon Gear.  The chance must be miniscule so in essence you are correct.

I hope BW is tracking the stats of how much is salvaged from each chest.  I think that's telling.  I almost always salvage every item from a large chest these days.

I got a greatsword of the dragon on my first perilous dragon. The RNG god can be a generous god at times.

I agree with this strategy. Once i realized that threatening is not really worth it, I've just been running perilous FC. Save for the occasional random when I'm leveling a lvl 1 and it throws me in an FC group, I just go with it.

I see your point and I agree with you now. But if Dragons weapons are what matter, you could play with dedicated teams instead. Games are much faster and chances of success is virtually 100%. With high DPS/Elemental weakness abuse the Dragon should be dead by the second time it lands on the ground. Those 23+ dragons you killed would have been multiplied.
No wonder people are saying Dragons are too easy and players are swimming in purple loot while others aren't. It is all a matter of efficiency. I know low prestige players who have got most (if not all) Dragon weapons by now. Not to mention no one stopped promoting. Also, I have a friend who got 3 Bows last night, so I presume the drop-rate is still the same.

I brought in a new DAIMP player to Perilous dragons (because why stay in routine?). He got a bow on his third day playing, and a maul shortly after that. His ME3 friends that've been playing DAMP longer are all jealous. I tell him to rub it in (between friends).

Tonight I am playing only Dragons, since I got into a team that wants to do it. In 5 hours I got 5 purples: 1h Sword (my 2nd one), 2h Sword, (my 3rd) Staff (3rd), Bow (8th) and Dagger (2nd). My teammates got less purples, like 2-3 each. Nevertheless, the drop-rates are pretty generous and surely they haven't been decreased despite the addition of materials as loot.

I can't believe it is that hard for some players here on the forums to get Dragon weapons while at the same time for me they drop as if it were Christmas.

The drop rate may be affected by A) how many goats were sacrificed to RNG and B) possibly hidden bonuses to drop rate (such as chests/items looted, or number of high dragons killed) C) BW's mood in changing drop rate on us server-side. I would bet one of these factors is true.

Regardless I've pulled a completely new player into my games, and the sob lucked out with brand new toys he's greatly enjoying this weekend.
