Hi guys!
First, I have to say that just yesterday I hear that DA:O for MAC has been released.
I was expecting it, but I didn't hear any news about that. That has something to say about what a crap they are trying to sell to us.

As I learn at this point is:

  • You can't use your PC key to enable MAC version.
  • So... you have to BUY another game for your MAC.
  • There plenty of problems with DLC.
  • You can copy your PC save games.
  • The game has some graphic issues, to the point that others like to play it on BootCamp, for a better performance.
  • Non existence Patch at the moment (thanks, Dogmatic Atheist !)
I would like to know:
- I can use my login name and get all DLC of my PC version?
- It will run on a ATYRadeonX1600, iMac?

I think PC buyers should have somekind of discount. If you are using the same account to play your character on PC and MAC, I don't know why you have to spend 50€ more on this. All MMO that have both versions are compatible. I know! This is not a MMO, but seeing how fast expands (and all the money they ask for DLC) you will spend more money than playing AION, WOW for a year. So the license for any platform should be free!

Sorry, sure you have talk about this a lot on this forum, but I just noticed that this versions exist and is not something to be proud of.

Bioware = :bandit: ?

You have to buy the Mac version, it's ported by different developers and they'll want their money. I agree a discount would be nice though...

If you copy your whole BioWare folder from the PC to the mac, and make sure to login to the same EA account, you will have all your DLC available. But there's no way to download official DLC for the Mac currently.

I haven't had any graphical issues, except for some reason FSAA is not available. It should be runnable on an iMac but someone else probably knows better.

Don't forget to add non-existent patch to that list of caveats. As well as shoddy support.

It really frustrates me because I'm actually really enjoying the game and I am able to run it with maxed out settings on my Mac Pro (and it looks really good), but I just wish I could get the DLC and the patch. Oh well. No more EA Cider ports for me. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...

Thanks Jhime.

But I don't really understand "But there's no way to download official DLC for the Mac currently"

Do you mean, for example, next coming expansion will not run on mac? Neither new armour and weapon?

Thanks for your help!

Jhime:

The new expansion has not been announced to support the Mac yet, my guess is that it never will.

Also, you cannot purchase individual DLC that did not initially come with your game like PC and console users can. So if your game did not come with Warden's Keep, you have no option to get it separately. You may be able to import the PC version but I'm not sure how much hassle it takes to do that.

What he said, pretty much... Since there's no word there's no way of knowing if the expansion will be supported or not. Unfortunately I doubt we'll ever get a negative confirmation, just silence. So I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Why do you think they will not release Awakening for MAC? That would not make any sense; I am so eagerly awaiting the expansion to be released. I certainly hope that will not be the case.

I don't know nothing about programming and all this stuff. But I wonder, if the main "engine" is translated into a code that mac understand, the expansion are just new maps, textures and sounds, it's just a guest.

But we saw in NWNII how it ends everything, so I can be wrong.

Just as ulisses78 said: In Neverwinter Nights II we never saw the expansions either.

Its a preconfigured Wine set-up. Which of course makes me wonder why there are an restriction on the Mac version at all.
