So for awhile now been using 20% armour penetration ring on my reaver and someone told me that its not really worth it and I should just use a crit chance ring or another 5% heal on kill

Reaver id go crit or hok.  Crit if you can stay alive without the extra hok.  Flow of battle passive is huge for a reaver since having your rampage upas often as possible is key.

most enemies have less than 50 armor, so a 20% armor penetration ring is an extra 10 damage at best, and the few enemies closer to 60 are just not worth the bonus.

It is a basic 1-10 damage against all enemies, and is just not worthwhile

MGW7 is right, the armor pen will only take off 20% of an enemy's armor, but I'm not convinced it's worse than crit. If you can figure out your crit chance and crit damage bonus, then you can probably do some math to figure out how it compares to 20% armor pen.

Which leads me to something I've been wondering about for a while: Is it possible to be sure of your crit chance and crit bonus damage based off your cunning stat and any item bonuses? Each character starts with 10 each in constitution, willpower and cunning, and of course you get +1 cunning permanently every time you promote a rogue character, which gives +0.5% crit chance. And you can always check your cunning value. But does a character's current level (1-20) also provide stats that aren't shown?

Ive often wondered that myself be nice if you could view a char sheet with base stats and adjusted with gear on.

Enemies in multiplayer don't really have enough armor to make it worth trying to build heavy amounts of armor penetration, as MGW7's stated.

In addition, if this is for your Reaver the ArmorPen offers no synergy. Unless you are literally sitting at 100% Crit Chance, more crit% always offers more in conjunction with the cooldown reduction on crit passive.

And even then, if you actually do have such a high % crit rate, crit damage still does more than armor penetration.
