This thread is at least a week too early. The game isn't even out yet. While The Witcher 3 looks it might be a better game than Dragon Age: Inquisition, all we have to go on is marketing and reviews. We're only seeing the best parts of the game and haven't had a look at its rough edges yet.

Having said that on the opposite side there are people proclaiming already that there is nothing in The Witcher 3 that Bioware should be looking at. That is equally premature. It also ignores that while Bioware has been better than CD Project Red in some areas, there are also parts of the Witcher series that have been much better handled than their equivalent in the Dragon Age series.

Ignore the obvious bait by OP and don't let it influence your perception of TW3.

Oh god there are people whining about TW3 being too saturated now too.  This is why we can't have nice things.

You can't expect the Canadians to be like the Polish. The Poles are just better. Poland is not a frozen hell, Poland has better looking men and women, and Poland has better video game companies.

Yeah, DAI should definitely copy the Witcher. I mean, it worked out really well when Medal of Honor tried to rip-off Call of Duty, didn't it?

Well, it already attempted to copy the MMO formula and aspects of Skyrim...

And failed

What I like about the Witcher is how grounded in reality it is that the developers make it believable.

The story is not this far-fetched over the top "epic" storyline. DAI made me cringe at how hard it tried. This why despite DA2's problems I actually love the story. It was more believable and not as fantastically nonsensical like DAI was.

DAO at least made more sense because I carried the taint which is why I was a special snowflake. And the buildup to that was quality.

DAI just throws some random character in the middle of all this action and slaps the "mark" on your hand. Boring and generic.

I have a friend who is the same way. He is a bit of a music snob and the more popular a group or singer becomes, the more he hates them. I had another friend who stated every chance she got that she hated Jennifer Lawrence and if you asked her why, she said, "God, just everyone thinks she is so wonderful!"

I know it's a common thing, but I can't wrap my brain around it. Maybe because I value my own opinion more than I do anyone else's and I don't like others making decisions for me. I am glad though, otherwise I would have missed out on some really good games, music, books and movies through the years.

I've tried Attack On Titan (spelling?) after someone recommended it to me. I've tried Twilight too to you know, watch it with a friend. Some other really hyped up things. I wanna blame those two where I've had like four different people gush about them.. Yeah I will blame them!

In all seriousness I like to try things on my own without people pushing me in the direction and telling me how I'll like it. It could be a phobia of expectation versus experience. I'm expected to like it so I will resist it.. Something along those lines. Same with TW3. People are telling me I am going to love it and I have mixed feelings about 2 so I'm very wary.

Not sure if serious about The Witcher being grounded in reality, you do realize you get attacked by Dragons and ghosts in those games, right? There's still magic and elves and etc., it's not as fantastical as Dragon Age but it's not exactly grounded either. I did like how in DAI they reveal how you got the mark (by accident) rather than giving you some divine purpose. For the most part you're lying to people in that game, even the main villian - as godlike as he appears - is as grounded in that world as anybody else. That said DAI does suffer from lack of setup, our hero has no background and few opportunities to voice their own motivations or do things their own way - you're whisked along for a ride much like DAO only at least DAO felt oppressing.

I feel as though the people who say DAI is like an MMO, haven't played very many MMOs.

The interesting point is that the same criticism was leveled at DAO. It appears many tend to forget about that.

You forgot to change your username from when you were vehemently defending this game on these very boards for months after release, you know, like a fanboy. Remember your fights against dlux?

People can change their minds but massively 180ing on the game and then calling other people fanboys makes you look like a blowhard.

I never liked this game this account was my brother's

Why on earth would my opinion this much in such a short time? Sounds silly

DA:I was bad at launch and is bad now as far as I'm concerned

And my brother has **** taste, saying that DA:I is the best Bioware game

But you believe what you want to believe I guess

Mana regen, aggro, cooldowns. MMO was quite the common criticism for Origins.

I don't think Bioware should copy anyone. All this fiasco started when Bioware started taking feedback from other games like "Oh this works good in Skyrim lets do this"  and blah blah blah. They should just do what they did best. Every Bioware game that came out before 2010 had something beautiful and unique to that game which made it special. Heck, before 2009 they didn't even create sequels except for Baldur's gate 2( which still is one of the best rpgs ever made so can't argue there) thats how much they liked to innovate. Now they just try to follow and therein lies the problem. They should lead not follow. I mostly put it to EA's fault though trying to cash in money by making Bioware use stuff that worked for others.

I still love Bioware. I am still playing Inquisition and loving it. But I could see the potential in the game that could have made it one of the best RPG's, lost because of some wrong decisions like using stuff from other franchises that works best for them.

CDPR is on the way of becoming what Bioware was before 2010. They are not there yet but they are definitely getting there and they are getting there by trying to innovate and not follow and Witcher 3 is their Baldur's gate 2.

Who made Age of Conan then? I thought it was by a Denmark company!

They are, based in Oslo. They did make the Lego Minifigures Online MMO though, and Lego is Danish.

Norway is not known for its cuisine, though. Belgium , on the other hand, has great chocolate and is a beer paradise. And they made Divinity:Original Sin there (in Gent, Flanders to be precise).

The first thought I had when I first began playing DAO was "huh, the UI for this game is strikingly similar to World of Warcraft's". I mean, it's a pretty standard UI for a hotbar-based RPG, but I had just came down from a lengthy WoW binge at the time, so the similarity struck me.

Of course, I also never went on a hate-filled rant about how terrible DAO was for looking vaguely MMO-ish.
