DA:I had surprising amount of swearing for a series that didn't use that kind of language before. Kinda threw me off at times, going "did he really just-".

Mass Effect was even more of a whiplash. In Mass Effect 1 there was rarely any swearing, and the times there were they were more minor swears. Then Mass Effect 2 showed up and there was swearing everywhere, even from characters from ME1 who didn't swear in that game.

This thread has turned into something funny. People who aren't even playing this game are still whining about the swearing.

It is because they are threathened by a big bad game that is obviously better than their current favorite game. Reminds me of the Marvel vs DC fanboy war. Bash the other product by default, and we "win".

Has no problem slaughtering people in the hundreds. Triggered by a little profanity. Classic BSN.

Hell, I think in Witcher, I wasn't allowed to behead someone without fading to black. (Reference, a quest involving a very disturbed individual that I'll always put down in every playthrough.)

You get to hear the beheading in DAI even when you judge someone to execution. Hah!

Yeah I think an appropriate moral compass would be more concerned about all the 1st degree murder you commit in DA and TW than whether someone says ****.

Yes. It's arbitrary. Congratulations on that revelation. Just like about every other facet of human communication and interaction?

There's really not a whole lot objectively carved into the universe as better.

Since it is completely arbitrary people need to quit crying about it. No one is hurt by hearing an f-bomb or two.

It's not the same. I'm not going to react the same to a child saying "darn it" and one saying "mother******"

Is that an arbitrary thing? I'm sure it is. I'm also sure pretty much all language is the same way.

That's just socialisation. What you're reacting to is the fact that a child swearing is outside the social norm.

Your reaction isn't proof that they're different. It's just proof you view them differently.

People sometimes at like saying mother**** will summon the demon MoFo, devourer of kittens ™.

Edit: And apparently that word isn't censored. Speaking of arbitrary, what?

Nobody's hurt by a stranger pressing his lips up against yours either. Does that make it okay for men to kiss you in greeting because it's an 'arbitrary' cultural norm that they shouldn't?

Arbitrary or not, these things carry meaning.

I didn't. I bought it knowing what it was, and I'm enjoying it. We don't all feel as strongly as you do about these things... but dude, this is a thread about the witcher. Why do you feel you have to try and convince us all to dislike it because there's swearing and some heavy storytelling? I'm okay with swearing and violence and heavy situations if it's in service to a good story. I enjoy game of thrones. I enjoy the witcher. I was underwhelmed by DAI but I enjoyed what story there was.

We're comfortable with it, otherwise we wouldn't play it. We can accept that you aren't comfortable with it, you should accept that we can handle it.

I'm not sure he's actually trying to convince others to dislike the game. He just keeps saying how the game isnt for him. Over. and over. and over. and over. and over again. Which is fine, people are allowed to partake in any particular topic they wish. After a while though, there comes a point where all you can say is "ok?" in response because what else is there to add? We've been told the game isn't for you ad nauseam, there's nothing we can do about it. The conversation just keeps going around in a circle, it isn't productive and at this point it's just beating a dead horse.

That example is nonsense. I'm hurt by someone invading my personal space and slithering their possibly disgusting lips over mine.

And speaking as someone who's background is a culture where men kissing each other on the cheek is the socially approved way of greeting (think Borat but for realsies)... why would you even gender it that way?

The demon MoFo devourer of kittens would be so much better then the crappy male desire demon they gave us.

Mother******. I said it.

Edit: Apparently nothing is censored. I had to censor my own F-word.

Now can we PLEASE get back to slaughtering the innocent in a brothel with our witcher blades while screaming profanities and running around naked?

*Choice* demon. I figured I'd be polite to people re: their silly preference given the thread direction.

Oh, give me a break. You're surely not deluded enough to imagine every norm you don't value is just silly 'arbitrary' socialization and every norm you do value has real, concrete, objective, scientific reasoning behind it?

I'm not the biggest fan of swearing, in terms of how much weight I give it on a scale of 1 to 10 though it's like a 2.5.

Where would you get that from? You asked what the harm would be from someone kissing you unbidden: that's the harm. I never denied that people who are uncomfortable around swearing don't feel uncomfortable. What I said was that their value isn't objective. That's not the same as impugning it in the way you think. Things are valuable even if they're not objective or metaphysical truth. Chill.

Oh, totally. I mean, it's the internet. I think it would be really unhealthy if we weren't arguing for him.

On previous page we also seem to have our very first SJW rambling as well. Muh power male fantasy!

Seriously, is it that hard to stick to the damn actual DA feedback? The thing this thread was meant to be about?

On topic:

Another thing that I wouldn't mind if Bio took inspiration from:

-The overall design of TW3 weapons and armor. Most of them are based on real life stuff, putting practicality before looks. Proper gambesons with jackchains, swords that actually look like swords and not an oversized sharpened bats etc.

- Finishers. They were present in Origins and although they could get a bit tiresome (Ogres), they were still kinda pleasant to look at and rewarding. And most of them usually happened on high-level bosses only(Ogre bosses etc.)

The armors in DAI are already bad. Following TW3 in this would be even worse.

The Witcher's aesthetic is incredible. Although I think that DAI has the most appealingly cohesive look since ME1, and I'm pretty pleased with it overall. If they decided to move away from giant clown hammers and whathaveyou, I wouldn't mind.

TW equipment design looks fantastic though. I've always thought that (well, since I noticed it in TW2 at any rate).
