I agree with this, though I liked the crazy terrain in DAI - the horse felt tacked on instead of useful.
I preferred a persistent horse,
i.e. one that doesn't spiritually dissipate (along with your companions)...

Yeah, well I wouldn't call the TV Series/Movie an exactly good source for inspiration or skilled writing, since it was so shitty that even the original author (Andrzej Sapkowski) hated it. Samurai Witchers anyone?
And female Witchers are a different issue altogether. They seem to be really uncommon/non-existent in the book and game canon which gives me the impression that Witcher schools simply don't take/accept them. Meaning if a Witcher found an orphan in a ditch and she was a female, he'd mostly likely just leave her there, as opposed to a boy.. the Witchers probably don't feel comfortable risking women and that men are more expendable. Call it medieval misogyny if you want.
So it's not that a girl couldn't become one, it's just that a girl was never "given" the chance and it seems like the devs and author himself (if his new Season of Storm book is anything to come by) still don't really feel like changing it.
Of course, the could try to write a possibility for a female Witcher, but I am afraid it would turn her too much into the "special snowflake" kind of trope.
Then again, we haven't yet seen anything like this from CD Projekt so far, so it could be good. Who knows.
Sounds good. Either that or perhaps like my original idea about the different Witcher schools with a semi-custom Witcher for a spin-off series or something along those lines. Something akin to Alpha Protocol or Mass Effect in terms of customization, backstory (maybe a bit more), while still retaining the strong writing for a pre-determinted, semi-established character.
The reason why there aren't female Witchers - or in fact many Witchers in general, is because the guild/profession is basically non-existent anymore.
Basically nobody knows how to "make" Witchers anymore - male or female. That knowledge has been lost, just like many schools and traditions of Witchers. Therefore I also don't think we'd get NEW Witchers - unless something happens, and something or someone rediscovers their ways and re-invigorates the guild. Not sure this will happen though.
Also, if I remember correctly, Ciri has been trained in style of School of the Cat (or at least her training included that fighting style - though Kaer Morhen is School of The Wolf. It seems this particular school only trained boys, which is why Geralt and the rest felt somewhat unprepared to train Ciri), which apparently trained female Witchers before it was destroyed.
The Witcher 3 also seems to have an unambiguously evil big bad(Eredin).Though I did not notice at first.
Honestly i'd like for the next Dragon Age to have a human antagonist, after the godhood stuff we went through with Corypheus it'd be nice to have an antagonist that was very conniving and smart and was fairly popular to boot. Loghain was interesting until he got exposed, it'd be even more interesting if there was no way to expose the villian. Setting a game in Tevinter would make it all the more interesting imo.

I don't know how they would end up doing that with a companion-based game, it's easy in TW3 because you're solo. Maybe your player character's horse sticks around and chews on grass while everybody else's horses disappear?
Also, I think the search function should be tied to something in the lore much like Geralt uses his witcher vision to find loot.

Then I guess it would work if the supposed spin off series was set further in the past where Witchers were more common or on the brink of destruction.
Also, where does it say that Ciri has been trained in a School of the Cat style? I thought Bonhart specifically called her out on knowing her Kaer Morhen-Wolf style of fighting, when she was in the arena. Or was it mentioned later in the game? (In that case, I wouldn't know because I've just arrived to Novigrad)
And to my knowledge, there has been no specific info about the School of the Cat, apart from Geralt mentioning they became psychopaths and assassins for hire (and of course, there's Brehen). Never heard of them training female Witchers, unless it was in the comics which are deemed non-canon.
But if it's true, then shoot some sources my way, I am interested in more Witcher lore either way.
EDIT: Did some digging. Is this a reference to Coen being possibly from School of the Cat, who was also training her? It's mentioned only on the polish Wiki and even there, it says it's unconfirmed and there's no clear evidence for that. I am confused. ![]()
I honestly think the witcher 3 is a bit over hyped. The pace of the game utterly kills it for me. I'm about 10 or 12 hours in and each time I put the controller down I find it harder and harder to go back to. I even stopped playing it for a while to play jaws of haaken so boiware must be doing something right.

Honestly, she is my favourite sorceress out of the lot. But that type of stuff is what I love about the Witcher, you'd never really see anything like that happen to a companion/LI in DA.
So anyone want to complain about a Circle?
Not even slightly.
Magic is so much better in the Witcher. Too bad it doesn't make you sterile in DA.
Playing TW1.. controls are still confusing but watched a youtube video to dumb it down for me. TW3 made me want more TW so I'm giving 1 a chance again.

Everyone has their opinion of the game, some like it better and some dont. But the fact of all is that the vast world outside the BioWare forums declared it light years ahead of Inquisition so I am sure bioWare can take some feedback and incorporate into their games =) which have been lacking on story and are pretty childish these days.

Stuff like that is why TW3 is on another level, compared to so many other games (or even DA:I). Heck, makes me want to play more right now.
Edit: To be clear, showing violence as it is, not the T fantasy shine that actually diminishes the impact.
I find it to be quite the opposite. I haven't been bored with TW3 yet. I honestly had to force myself through Hakkon. Same thing with my last PT of DAI. I skipped so much, which is unfortunate, as I hate skipping content--even if it's a subsequent PT. I am hoping their upcoming dlc is going to get me back into it.
Not even bothered with Hakkon at all been too busy exploring Witcher 3. I even found a pod of whales around the islands in Skellige, made me jump when one surfaced near my boat then the whale song started it was so beautiful I just sat in the boat and watched them.
I doubt there was a worldwide volte to declare TW3 bettern then DAIEveryone has their opinion of the game, some like it better and some dont. Joking aside, this 'rumour' that the Bioware forum hates TW3/CDPR is false. There Are a lot of people here Who like/love CDPR and their last game. And from what people wrote, it seems this forum reacted better to TW3 then the CDPR official forum.
that's the case with all forums though

What are you talking about? I saw what would happen to her by a mile (such graphic death was bit of a shocker, but I knew she'd die horribly).
Radovid and Eternal Fire folks are obviously touted as zealots with absolute hatred towards magic and sorcerers... what ELSE did you expect to happen if you'd send her to Vlad the Impal... I mean Radovid?
(especially that her reasoning behind going there was kinda... wonky, when you meet her on Fyke Isle)

Isn't it always like that?
Games own forums usually contain a lot of people who seem to dislike it a lot and compare it unfavorably to any other "competing" game. I've seen this in other game forums I frequent as well, long before I joined this one.
Am a fan of fewer cut-scenes, but I do not recall laughter being a personality trait. And if one only found two personalities, that is on the Player; not the game. More options are available than those examples. But then, I was willing to look....
Depends on the laughter, and what brings it on. But I didn't mention the giggle scene this time.
Sure I could have just made up my own headcannon and gone "lalalalala I don't want to hear" every time auto-dialogue or a cutscene does a 180 on the personality, but that doesn't really work.
You keep on saying this like you're being funny or clever.
Nothing clever about stating an obvious truth.
I don't see it. I know of plenty of RPGs where the character's motivation and personality are irrelevant, though; are those what you're talking about?
Do those games let you design your own personality and motivations?
