No, as Bioware had characters tell tales of missing turnips, and then turnip soup served to a man shortly before passing away, as the aroma was a long held memory of home, as I recall. This is when Cole became my fave new NPC of the series.

I do enjoy Cole. I liked the awkward and unusual things he did around skyhold.

That's actually not true. It's just a fan assumption because all the Witchers you run into in the books and games are male. There is no point in the books where it is said that women can't become Witchers at all. I've never seen a female taxi driver, but that doesn't mean a woman couldn't drive a cab.

CD Projekt Red wouldn't have to break lore to have either a set female Witcher protagonist or a Witcher protagonist whose gender was chosen at startup.

The only lore-breaking that would maybe happen is that if the game takes place after Witcher 3, how are they gonna justify the creation of more witchers, wether they be male or female?

Basically every school stopped creating witchers simply because of the trials and how many children that end up dying. They are gonna have to come up with a very good reason and not just "meh we felt like creating some witcher's again because we need a chosen one.".

Would not know; never met a medieval peasant in a Fantasy setting. Perhaps they use proper grammar and have the self discipline to hold their tongues when speaking to those with weaponry....

They swore alright, in the sense that they seem to have had far less hang-ups when it comes to non-religious swearing, using sexual and fecal terms quite a lot in fact. It’s only much later that these terms began to be considered ‘obscene’. One of the reason this type of swearing still has some impact is possibly a result of a certain ‘cleaning up of everyday’ language in the modern era. Medieval Europeans (this also applies to other eras and cultures) may have been less shocked by much of our modern swearing than we ourselves.

Religiously-based swearing is another matter; putting God, Christ etc. in your swearing did occur, maybe even fairly frequently (we know it happened, but not how often) but the Church and local authorities could come down hard on the people who did this. Punishment could range from some time in the stocks and fines to branding and other fun forms of mutilation.

If CDPR really wanted to do a ‘realistic’ quasi-medieval RPG, non-religious swearing certainly would have its place, but defiling the name of major deity X…might lead to the local court ordering your tongue cut out or split in two.

If any CDPR dev is reading this: Feel free to use this as an idea for a quest in future DLC… ;)

In dragon age inquisition everything felt scripted, scheduled, calculated and mechanical,it was too formal (click here for tender moment, press enter for sex, press space for spontaneity).

Contrast the wicked grace scene with Geralt,Eskel and Lamberts drunken shenanigans.

I actually think TW1 did a better job than the sequels at portraying medieval mindsets, everybody hates you from the beginning and wants you dead - which is more realistic to that period.

That is an excellent description of my position.

As the player, I shouldn't be aware that anything outside the game (including myself) exists.  So anything the game says to the player I'm liable not to notice, because I'm not aware of the player's perspective.

This is something ME did badly on Ilos.  The game tried to tell me, the player, that I should take the Mako on the trench run.  But since I wasn't paying any attention to my own point of view - I observed only Shepard's point of view - I was unaware that the game had tried to tell me anything.

Uh, really? Pretty sure Shepard and co. would think "gee, any chance to use the mako is good", especially when going up against superior numbers with not a lot of time, and REALLY essentially when you step into the base and see a really long corridor that's really wide and can fit a mako.

That's like driving up to an interstate and thinking "nah, i'll walk it instead".

Aren't you the guy who was proclaiming some kind of crusade againts "TW fanboys"?

Then it's not suprising. If you already went into the games with such negative notion (or disliking it because of fanboys), then I doubt things are gonna get better from there. No need to force yourself there. ;)

I will admit some of their fanbase has soured things for me but they've been like that for years.  But I don't think about what some jackass on the internet has said when I am actually playing a game.  For me I guess I just get tired of playing as Geralt and I find the combat and gameplay to be a little reptitive for my liking.   The one thing the witcher games do handle well is the branching story paths which is why I do eventualy plan on doing a second playthrough.  I played through TW2 twice and oddly enough I liked it more my second time through.

I hear you, I really enjoyed TW1 and TW2 as well, i'm enjoying 3 too but part of me is beginning to question whether I really like open world rpg's not made by Bethesda as there is some tedium and boredom setting in with the side quests. I didn't really enjoy DAI at all until my second playthrough when I skipped a lot of side stuff, so maybe i'll do that with TW3 as well.

Gwent.

Bioware tak a a look at Gwent.

Best minigame ever.

I'm seriously addicted to Gwent. I'm obsessed with finding and winning all of the cards. Love the strategy needed to beat the better players too, with surrendering rounds, weather cards, leader abilities, commander's horn (sooooo useful) and decoys all making the difference.

They've become what pokemon cards were to me when I was 10.

Who's done with the Cabaret secondary quest? I thought it was one of the best optional quest I've ever played. It starts with a light atmospheric errand run and then suddenly evolves into.....

Spoiler

Blew my mind.

so let's steer this back to what DA can learn from the Witcher and not....whatever is going on now....

Do you think the Ciri sections are something that they should look at?  Instead of flashbacks being all cinematic (or even worse, all dialogue) would making them short playable sections with a different character and a different (if restricted) skillset be a better approach?

Oh yes that would be great, they could have done something like that in DAI, perhaps allowing you to play as one of your advisors on their war table missions or something like that. Perhaps play as Leliana as she carries out spy/assasin missions or play as Cullen in a few skirmishes.

It was great, blew my mind too. I am really enjoying the impact some of these quests have as they play out.

I don't think I'll ever play the Witcher game series. I'm very curious about the novels but they haven't all been translated yet. Also what I've seen in the gameplay doesn't offer any blocking or parrying moves in the swordplay. You'd think they'd finally introduce feinting with all that boasting of AI development. The lead character sounds too much like Clint Eastwood and his appearance is fixed. I'd rather customize my character in any gender or race available. Finally, all those sex scenes are like you're screwing in a Dutch painting. I don't want to screw in a Dutch painting!

What..?

Something tells me you clicked on a Teletubbies video and thought it was a Witcher 3 gameplay trailer. Parrying, blocking, dashing, rolling etc. is already in the game since TW2.

I mean, I understand that people can get confused or wrong info from unreliable second-hand source, but c'mon...

Unless you've been talking about the first Witcher.

Why do some people criticize games when they even haven't played it? I'm playing TW3 right now and I have no idea what you're talking about.

How much of that was the hilarious dialogue though you know? It's just something I think about, there usually has to be a kind of inspiration behind the idea. The notion that you should do it because CDPR did it and so on might not translate well by itself.

KotOR and KotOR2 both did it, as well.

I've long maintained that we shouldn't always have to take the PC as a party member during regular gameplay, and that's essentially what this would be.

you are flat out spreading false information about the game. But if your own misinformation stops you from playing it, the joke is on you, pretty much. :P

Here, a video showcasing blocking, parrying and finishers

Is your Shepard autistic?

She wasn't concerned for her own sake. She didn't want the Geth to know they were being followed. She wanted to sneak up on them.

It's hard to sneak in a battle tank.

It's kind of hard to sneak when they already know you're coming, as was established when the mako landed on Ilos.

I really don't see what's so great about, TW3. Honestly. I've seen gameplay, and played a friend's. I just don't see it. If people like it, fine, but keep it out of DA.

FEEDBACK!

Get someone at Bioware to play this game and have said person fight Wraiths, they are the most bullshit enemies in any game ever and enemies like them should never try to be copied! NEVER!
