Am I the only person who thinks the Witcher series sucks?
Of course not. In fact, I can't say I really enjoyed my own Witcher experience. However, I recognize that there is some general gameplay elements from TW3 in particular that folks have stated that would work well for future BioWare games. I decided when the thread started to try come into it with an open mind. It's paid off. There have been some good ideas in here, and I've gotten the chance to get to know several posters as a result. The thread has gotten long, which is why occasionally stuff like anime comes up.
I'm not going to ask you to like the Witcher series. Heck, I didn't enjoy the Witcher series. However, the older I get and if I dislike something, the more I stop to consider if something truly "sucks," or if more of a matter of something not being for me. I do feel that there is a big difference in that, at least from my perspective. I don't think the Witcher is a bad series. Far from it, in fact. It overall looks like the controls are pretty solid, the graphics are good, the sidequests are fun and that the main story is engaging. I do know it's not to my taste, and it's unlikely if I will fully play the series. I still see what makes the game appealing for others though.
The only thing I could ask from anyone that doesn't like the games or didn't enjoy their Witcher experience to look at this thread in the context of what BioWare could learn to improve their games. I say this as someone that's a proud fan of DA:I, and has loved their experiences with the DA games.
Also, this has actually been an overall civil and productive thread to discuss concerns/problems people had with DA:I in general. I know it's rare in a thread with such a title (that could have been worded better,) but there hasn't been as much open bashing of the two series as you might think. Oh, it's there, but most of the posters in here would rather not waste too much time on that. There are plenty of folks in here that actually have played through both series. Some prefer one series over the other. Some other posters like both series more or less equally, but feel that both companies could learn different elements from each other. There's also a few like me, that haven't played TW series fully, are big DA/BioWare fans, but have been excited to endorse some of the ideas in the thread.
