Just to be clear the 16 DLCs are NOT on disc content. I remember watching an interview with Damien Monnier shortly after the game went gold. He was asked if they (CDPR) were going to take a well deserved break, and he said something like "nope, we promised people 16 free DLCs, so we better start working on them."
Feedback... be more like The Witcher 3

Tbh, The Spoils of the Avvar(don't know why I keep insisting on calling it Spoils of War) wouldn't have left such a bad taste in my mouth if they hadn't long released an Avvar dlc that I felt was already overpriced. Then release a dlc with Avvar items for $5.00 that I feel should have been included with the previous dlc. And to have the armor as loot on a rng loot system? Jeez, if it's like half the schematics in game, one might loot it and one might not. I dunno. Just leaves me feeling a bit sour.
I definitely agree that the pack should have been included in the DLC and the only two reason I can think of is the exclusive deal preventing it or EA just wanting to make a quick cash-in (Both are very valid lol

Snip
Am i missing something? Did Bioware cut content from DA:I that they released as DLC later? The only thing that has popped up in Origin for me is that new pack for 5 dollars or whatever. And it is completely optional. Black Emporium has been free, the multiplayer dlc was free. And Jaws of Hakkon added 10 hours of gameplay for one playthrough for about 20 bucks. And i have played it more than once. I have paid 60 dollars for games that lasted 8 hours. I don't understand where you are coming from.

I'm not sure that "on disk" content matters all that much. You could always develop the DLC in a modular fashion in parallel with development and simply not leave any of the architecture in-game. I certainly don't get the obsession with people only working on DLC after release, since that's just a huge waste of resources (because not all team members would finish their part of the game at the same time; the writers aren't writing on the base game 2 weeks before it goes gold).

I never refer to MP dlc as I don't play it and it's easy to release those things for free considering how much they make from microtransactions.
I am glad you liked JoH. It didn't take me all that long to finish it and it felt stale. I feel it was definitely overpriced.
As to where I am coming from: You act as though CDPR is doing something shady by releasing the free dlc that you claim was already made before game release.
I was pointing out that if that's the standard for which you set, then CDPR should not be vilified for it, considering most companies release the same content for a price.

The writers and majority of art folks had most assuredly moved onto starting production of the two expansions before release, programmers would be the only ones with any major duties that close to release.

Right. So it makes no sense to say that the DLC wasn't being developed during release. And this is a good thing. Why would we want developers not developing games? DLC objections are always so strange.

The actual content of this was worked on quite a bit after JoH was finalized, yes some of the meshes and alike was used from the JoH but doesnt mean it was cut.Source: I was QA on both products

I will agree with this. It would make sense to brainstorm during process. For instance while making a section or wanting a new area. Maybe the idea came to them long before end of game production but because of time and resource, the idea for in-game wouldn't be plausible-- but they may table it for a dlc, since they're allotted more time and resource for those. Makes sense to me.

That's often how expansions started. Cut content meant lower marginal costs since you already built some of it.

Not sure if this was for my benefit or for in general. If the former, I never said it was cut content. I said that it really should have been in the dlc.One of the devs commented on the Spoils of the Avvar pack
If it was an idea born after the dlc release, that is one thing. If the idea was floating around before, I just feel like it would have been better suited for the dlc, especially since there weren't a lot of take-away items from the dlc and it was pretty pricey to boot. It's just my opinion. This is how they chose to do it and that is fine. I don't have to agree with it.
Either way, I won't be getting it. I don't use mounts in Inquisition and don't feel like looting around for the new armor and the price doesn't match the content. However, for those who do get it-- I hope they enjoy it.

I might pick it up, but it wouldn't be for the mounts. I'm like Kbomb up there, in that I don't really use mounts. The only zone I usually find myself mounted in for any amount of time is the Hissing Wastes. Even then, unless I'm going out shopping or feel like setting up camps before I start questing, I'm on foot.

New Gwent deck in the next free TW3 DLC (also a mission). So now I feel I need to talk about how awesome a mini-game Gwent is. This coming from someone who does not enjoy compulsory mini-games in games, as they are often repetitive and thus quickly become stale. When I entered that first inn in White Orchard and had to speak to a guy who was to teach me a card game, I literally groaned. Fast forward a couple of hours, and I'm bee-lining straight towards villages and cities to find more Gwent players whose cards I can win.
If you're going to include mini-games (definitely not saying every game should, as it's so, so rare for it to be done right), this is the way to do it. It's a clever strategy game, never repetitive, and with a clear progression as you win stronger cards. How awesome would it have been to actually be able to play Wicked Grace with the team, if it had been like Gwent?

They really should've just given this one out as a freebie for a little healthy competition towards The Witcher's free DLC items.
Charging $5 almost seems like a farce in comparison.

I agree but EA has always been about profit and they already did the BE for free so it doesn't really surprise me

This sounds like it could be fun. I also wish we had the option to play wicked grace for real. There aren't any "quirky" regional rules that spread like STDs in this one, are there?
And I'm assuming it's better than dice poker? Dice poker is terrible.

There are several vids on youtube explaining Gwent strategies, if you're interested? I found it to be relatively straightforward once you grasp the basics. There are 4 decks, each with their strengths and weaknesses (Northern Realms, Nilfgaard, Monsters and Scoia'tael). You start with a basic Northern Realms deck and play against merchants and innkeeps to win cards for the other decks that build up over time. So you can really change your strategy depending on which deck you or your opponent are playing, keeping it fresh. There are also some optional Gwent quests with harder opponents, allowing you to win special Hero cards like Geralt, Ciri, Roche, Yen, etc. Great fun.

Indeed, Gwent is polarizing, lol. From what I've seen around the internet, you either love it or hate it. Probably why they should keep mini-games like that out of games, but man, am I pleased they included it.

I'm glad they made it though even if i'm not a fan of that specific mini-game, Bioware should totally make a Wicked Grace mini-game even if I don't like that as well. Also I suggested in the Mass Effect forum a working poker table for the next game.
