I found Inon Zur's DA OST more boring and generic than Trevor Morris' DA OST personally.
This.
The soundtracks for the Dragon Age series I've always found to be boring and forgettable, unlike the Mass Effect games. DA:I was the first one I thought that had a soundtrack that was on par with the ME series.
But from what I recall drinking potions mid-battle was how it worked in TW1 too.
Not only that, but you could hold 3 quick potions. The difference was that toxicity took a long time to deplete, not like in TW3 where you could have a full bar and it'd be gone by the time the fight was over. It also had an animation, which means you'd actually have to think before you pop a Swallow.

There were a couple of good ones though, such as the Main Theme in DAO and Mage Pride in DA2. I actually don't really know what DAI soundtrack is like, the only part I remember from the game is that little loop when Corypheus shows up. Not to mention there was little to no music playing whilst I was exploring.

Yes.

Oh, there were some amazing pieces in DAO and DA2. I'm not saying there weren't. I'm just saying that on the whole I find Trevor Morris' score for DAI better than Inon Zur's scores for DAO and DA2. Both composers are good.

Trevor Morris also used leitmotifs incredibly well, which is something DA was sorely missing. And in that I include the leitmotif for the Inquisition (cf. the main theme, dawn will come and rise).
Don't get too excited about the crossbows in Witcher though, they're more utility than anything else. Primarily used to bring down aerial opponents such sirens or harpies and underwater combat. Only moderately useful in some situations with explosive bolts which can ignite foes, but sword and magical signs are still your bread and butter.
Okay, I'll try not to over do it with the crossbows.

Well, Isabela does have that Crossbow Pistol thing in the MP.

Maybe one of the reasons I view Morris' work in a negative light is because of the near absence of music in zones. And the small little bits that did play were all the same.
Each zone should have had different ambient music to make each zone unique
Can't really blame the composer for that. He was just following orders.
Am I the only person who actually enjoyed TW1 combat?
I enjoyed it too! It was strategic without the spastic nature of an action rpg.
Any chance someone can give me a hint on how to deal with the plant beasts that keep destroying me? Using Quen in the swamp even..

I really hate archespores and Echinops as well, the easy way to deal with them is do upgrade Igni to have incineration, so light them up and back away.

I don't want to say that I am liking the combat more because it's getting easier.
I'd feel like this guy, and I really despise him yet I still watch the content (because it makes me feel better about myself I guess, human ego and all..)
Warning, excessive profanity, general annoying complaining.
Bah, I leveled the wrong things. I may restart my game.

That's not on the composer. Bioware didn't want music for zones. Can't fault him for living up to his contract. Just like I don't fault Inon Zur for not having character leitmotifs in DA:O or Trevor Morris for not having them in DA:I.
My issue with DAi is I can't remember a single song. DAO, DA2, Mass effect 1,2, and especially 3 I can remember music from.
DAI was forgettable.

Let's forget DA:I for a second. You thought the garbage that was ME1's track - aside from the wonderful Virmire theme and the main theme - was better than "the most awful thing ever"? That's the shocker.

I liked ME1, but I don't recall an overwhelming nostalgia for it's music myself.
I will credit DAI with having a few good ones I still remember months later.

I have the soundtracks to all of these games, including the extended version of DA2's and all of ME's and the DLC's for 2 and 3, and I find this a bit curious. Most of DA:O and DA2's soundtracks are generic atmospheric music that plays on a continuous loop in the game, but Origins only has a few moments where it actually reaches a high point, namely Ferelden At War, which plays during the attack of Ostagar, and again at the gates of Denerim, which I guess is part of The Chantries Hubris. Other than that there's I Am The One, which is probably one of my favorites off the track, but I totally skip over most of them. DA2 is arguably worse, since it doesn't seem to have any high points at all, just a lot of action-y combat tracks. I do like Rogue Heart a bit, but that only plays in the credits, and AFTER that other song.
Mass Effect 1 makes me especially curious, because the vast majority of tracks on the album is crappy synth music, though it has more enjoyable tracks throughout than Origins does, I think. The soundtracks don't really get interesting until ME2, which probably has some of my favorite out of the entire lot, including the DLC's. Among the entire library that I have, I'd easily rank DA2 the lowest, with DA:O right above it.
How it was used in the game aside I like DAI's soundtrack. What stands out though is that there aren't any unique soundtracks for the optional zones, maybe why there was so much silence.

Bloedzuigers get my goat for taking forever to go down and when they do, they explode, spraying acid everywhere. Still better combat than in the sequel.
Aard was my only real way of minimizing damage taken by these bloated sacks of filth.
I must say, I prefer slower combat like this then quick paced action slashers as of late.
